The space

This magnificent 1 acre estate is a fully walled private zen garden complete with a koi pond and a beautiful pool with a surrounding outdoor kitchen, barbecue, bar and fireplace. This spanish style villa has 6 spacious bedrooms including two very large Master bedrooms, 7 spa quality bathrooms so every bedroom has it's own attached bathroom. We have a large gourmet kitchen with a butlers pantry and a separate dining area. There is a very large living room, a game room, and 4 indoor fireplaces as well. We have a motor court to accommodate guests parking. There is wireless internet and cable throughout the property. The property is near Tuckers Grove Park, a few minutes drive to the beach as well as the airport and a 10 minute drive to downtown Santa Barbara. We have a state of the art security system with cameras on the entry points and outdoor walkways. We have an on-site caretaker in a detached guest house. We will personally make sure that your stay is a memorable one. We love hosting guests in this stunning sanctuary. You will keep wanting to come back to this very special Oasis among the beautiful Santa Ynez Mountains on the central coast of California in a legendary place known as Santa Barbara. Please no wedding inquiries! Unfortunately the local laws do not allow us to do that sort of thing. We are inundated with wedding inquiries and just don't like having to say no multiple times a day. Thank you.

2 day minimum for pool heat. No parties, weddings, rehearsal dinners. There is a 10% tax that Airbnb doesn't collect. They think they will be able to someday soon as they collect it for L.A. and San Francisco. You must pay that before checking in. We accept many forms of payment. Just let me know what works best for you. The town does not want vacation rentals to have lots of cars impacting the neighborhood.

Guest access

Guests will have access to every amenity offered. Our true check in time is 3pm and check out is 10am, however, both of these are very, very flexible if you don't mind the possibility of very unobtrusive workers possibly starting or finishing their jobs. We want every guest to be able to maximize their stay.
We ask that they not build wood fires in any of the fireplaces and only use the indoor gas fireplaces on the property.

We have a pool that can be heated but we charge extra to heat it since many people don't want to use the pool. The charge is $75 per day in the summer and $100 during the colder months. There is a minimum 2 days of pool heat as the most expensive part of heating is getting it up to the warm temperature. The price to heat for one day is nearly the same as for 2 days.

Interaction with guests

We have either ourselves, a cleaning person or a caretaker living on the property at all times. The guest houses are completely detached and privacy has never been an issue. Depending on what day of the week you stay some workers may be around. Just like a hotel we need upkeep. We have a pool service, a pond service and gardening. There is the potential of utility meter readers coming on the property as well. It is a resort like atmosphere which feels like having your own private resort but like all hotels and resorts there is onsite management that would never lessen your fun unless you are destructive, throwing a party or in some other way breaking the household rules. Most cases the caretaker is only seen on check in and then never seen again.

Stay here and enjoy the entire property. Please, no parties or gatherings. We have a 6 car limitation so that all cars can be parked behind our gates. We hope no cars are parked, loaded or unloaded on the street. The strict vacation rental policies in Santa Barbara force us to ask that it is outdoor quiet after 10pm. There are lots of fun indoor activities. We have a variety of board games, billiards, and shuffle board for your enjoyment after 10pm. There is a 10% transient tax we must pay to the county that is not included in the airbnb price. Please tell us about any children prior to booking so we can discuss keeping them safe around the bodies of water on the property. We have several methods. Please no smoking. Please treat the property as a sacred space and you will enjoy it to its fullest potential. Each situation is different so each booking is different. We will discuss our expectations of our guests on an individual and personal basis. If you have more people on the property than you have registered your deposit will be adjusted accordingly. We are very reasonable about visitors. We just don't appreciate people paying for 8 people and inviting 12 or more without paying for the additional guests. To be clear, children are actually people even if they are small. Small children actually add so much extra cleaning. We love kids but just know they are considered guests.

This home was perfect for our family holiday with 4 generations. Each bedroom having it's own bath was great! The garden and Coy Pond are unique and a very special treat. The game room and extra amenities are perfect to keep everyone entertained. We held a 90th birthday dinner for 16 on the outdoor deck, and it was a fantastic setting and perfect evening. Virginia was a wonderful hostess and always available to help with any need. The owner was very responsive to our special requests and feedback for future guests. Overall we loved the home and enjoyed our stay, rarely leaving since there was so much to enjoy on site!

The space is so beautiful, and it was the perfect place for our family to stay during our wedding weekend. Everyone was comfortable and had so much fun with the pool table and shuffle board. The host was very responsive and helped us out a lot by giving us a tour of the huge space before we all checked in.

This was my family's second stay at this treasure. Three generations with beautiful combinations of in and out gathering spaces. We are in love with it!

Great place! I would highly recommend it. Virginia was nice and accommodating. The only complaint I would have is that the pool table should be replaced and kept up-to-date. The cue sticks are almost unusable and there was only 1 cue stick to use which was a little annoying. It also needs more trashcans around the house. The rooms can get a little hot, so having central A/C would have been great. Otherwise, this was fantastic house and I would definitely recommend it and stay again!

Response from Virginia:
So sorry we have been heavily booked and didn't know the cues were broken we have all new ones just waiting to be used. We will put them out. Sorry you didn't like the pool table. Odd, a few guests before you there was a pool enthusiast that told us our table was great. Classic, and one solid piece of slate so it performs better than most. He must have been just being nice. Sorry about the freak heat wave. The house is 100 years old and has had several million dollars worth of improvements but AC hasn't been necessary for our climate and would really ruin the indoor/outdoor living vibe with doors open all the time. Sorry about the crazy weather.

Amazing place for a large family to enjoy some time together! Tucked away in a nice neighborhood, you'd never expect this beautiful protest behind the gate. We loved cooking and eating in the amazing chef's kitchen, relaxing by the calming fish pond, swimming in the elegant pool, and showing in the spa like bathrooms. Virginia who checked us in and Jenn, the owner, were a pleasure to communicate with and were very accommodating to our family's needs. Highly recommend staying in this beautiful place!
