Great discounts for long stays! This is a sweet little, fully-furnished, independent, 1 BR apartment (within a larger family house) with a private entrance. It includes a bedroom (full-size bed), large full bath, open plan living-dining-kitchen with a sofabed, and an attached sun room leading out into the back garden. Wi-fi, basic cable and all utilities are included along with linen, kitchen and dining ware, basic toiletries and starter cleaning supplies for free use during your stay. The washer & dryer are conveniently located on the same floor.
Guests have sole access to the one-bedroom apartment accessed via a side door and staircase. The laundry room is shared with guests who live on the upper floor.
Interaction with Guests
I may be there to check you in or, more likely, would be traveling myself. In the latter scenario a friend would be there to give you the keys and I will be in email contact through out to ensure you have a pleasant stay!
In much-sought after JD, the neighborhood is safe, peaceful, and beautiful - ideal for the suburban power walker or the more adventurous nature explorer (there's a nature reserve down the street for starters). It's also super convenient - by car, exactly two minutes to interstate (481), five minutes to Wegmans, ten minutes to downtown Syracuse/SU/SUNY.
There is no public transport of note nearby - just a once-a-day Centro bus going its own way. So you would need your own car while living here. The driveway is quite big and can accommodate several cars.
Other Things to Note
1) This apartment sits below another and there may be a bit of noise transference from the floorboards above.
2) Snow shoveling is not included in your rent. So while the town is very prompt in shoveling road snow, the driveway snow would need to be shoveled, for which I have kept shovels handy!
3) I do not provide any dining services, but a well-equipped kitchen is available for you to make your own meals :-)
Sorry, this is a no-pets, no-smoking, no loud music/partying place!
Served my needs, but not as nice as I expected it to be. Mostly clean, but refrigerator smell, dirt in corners on floors, and old crayons in couch cover were disappointing. Apartment could use some updating as table and chairs were unsteady/tippy, both closet doors were off hinges, hole where microwave fan should be, and drop ceiling was in rough shape (present but bowing). The furace broke while I was there in the winter, so after 2 cold nights and 2 calls to the neighbor, we got it professionally addressed. Had to replace 3 light bulbs when I moved in, as homeowner isn't around to check those things. Water pressure good, always warm, kitchen is nicely stocked with cooking tools. House is currently for sale so there were 9 showings during my 10 week stay. I never actually met the host as she was overseas, so her neighbor was the main faciltator and she was great. I had trouble meeting the neighbor to get the keys to check in since she was returning from vacation, so I had to bum around for several hours until I could meet her. Neighbor did help with snow removal after a big storm which was very generous. Nice that its a whole unit to yourself.
Thank you for your detailed feedback Erin. It would have also been nice (and certainly fair) to also mention that you availed of a VERY big discount throughout your stay, which you had requested, and which I agreed to at a big loss to me :-) Also, if you may recall, the house showings were agreed to by you before you confirmed your reservation! Given the fact of the deep discount and the straightforwardness of the deal, I'm wondering why you now think it fit to list out petty things like changing light bulbs during a 3 month discounted stay, and unforeseen maintenance issues even though they were promptly addressed, etc etc. Really, what gives?! No house, even your own when you get it, is perfect. What is relevant is not to pay peanuts and compare it to a 5 star hotel (which I never misrepresented that it was) but to judge it by the price you are paying for it. Just some friendly advice :-)
Excellent apartment complex. Spacious and comfortable. Mandy was a great host. Enjoyed the stay.
Quiet neighborhood, great place, comfortable bed, good quality carpet, always hot water with good pressure, has all of the necessities for cooking, has a cool side porch-like thing with screens to keep out the bugs.
Neighbors upstairs are very quiet and checking in and out was a breeze!
There are two entrances for the driveway so it was very easy parking and getting in and out.
There are some ridiculously awesome smelling flowers upon the entrance of the garage; gave a nice feeling coming "home".
Mandy was really welcoming and the place was clean!
If you have a long stay, there is a washer and dryer in the basement; super convenient.
Would stay there again!
This sweet apartment is a pleasure to stay in.
It offers everything you need and and has the most comfortable bed I ever slept in-I'm not joking!
Mandy is an awesome host. Though she is on the other site of the earth most of the time she does everything to keep her guests comfortable.
The neighborhood is really nice and quiet and the neighbors are welcoming and helpful.
I would return at any time.
This place exceeded all expectations. It appeared just as the pictures portrayed it and Mandy has thought of EVERYTHING! Fully furnished is an understatement, anyone coming into this sweet little apartment need not worry about bringing anything with them except their personal belongings. Mandy greeted me exactly as planned and gave me a warm welcome to the place making sure I had everything I could need and she continued to provide wonderful company well into my stay. The neighbors were so polite and receptive of me and I felt completely safe from the very first day in this brand new town. The full kitchen has new appliances and any and all cookwear, utensils, etc... is right there for your convenience and she even included towels, linens, cleaning supplies and coffeepot! It was beyond move-in ready and I have been extremely comfy and cozy in this perfect little place!
Staying at this "Sweet Little Apartment" in Jamesville was a delight. This space suited our needs on all fronts; location, convenience, proximity to shopping, wifi, TV, laundry facilities and a lovely neighbourhood to stroll through.
Mandy was the perfect Hostess in spite of being half a world away. By the end of our stay we felt as though we had made a friend.
I will certainly be recommending this option to my siblings when they come to the Syracuse area to visit friends and family.
What a great first time experience on airbnb.com!
CAUTION! The day I moved in for a 3 month stay, I ended up cleaning the bathroom and refrigerator due to mold and wiping down all the spider webs throughout the apt. The walls are in desperate need of paint and it smells like mold and mildew This apt is in the basement with no way to control the heat or air. The refrigerator leaks due to a bad seal and will ruin you food I ended up replacing the shower curtain because it was so moldy. The bathroom sink backs up when you run the washer. The landlord told me before I moved in the deposit was $200 but after I moved in it was 600. She did say I could break the agreement and she would send the remainder of the rent back but she never did. I had to dispute my credit card charges to get my refund. She lives out of the country. It is difficult to deal with her due to this. Also if you have a complaint airbnb is basically no help. I was offered a "special offer" but was charged full price when I used the resolution tool the landlord said she never received it so she would apply the overpayment to my next months rent. Then she totally disregarded what she promised in writing. This was my first experience with Airbnb and will never use them again. Also there is no phone number to contact a person at Airbnb. Everything is done by email
I would like to remind you that you liked the apartment, made no complaints when you
checked in, but shortly thereafter commenced a series of complaints about almost everything - regardless of the fact that the apartment had been inspected before you checked in, and was inspected after - both times positively. You also know that the airbnb guest checking in the day you left found nothing wrong with the apartment (do read Martie's review) and called the same place "a delight". So how could you have seen mold, mildew, spiders, leaky seals and whatnot, when the previous guest, the current guest, and I myself have looked in vain for evidence of this alleged decay but found nothing?! Given these facts and your subsequent demand for a full refund after staying there for 20 days, I am tempted to believe that these complaints served the sole purpose of creating a case for a free stay.

Hi there, I'm Mandy - never-say-die globe trotter and inveterate rolling stone - former journalist, designer, management professional, academic and entrepreneur - to name a few :-) I'm also a greenie, and have a little organic farm on my terrace in Mumbai that keeps me grounded when I'm not traveling! Besides travel, I enjoy the good life, great music, soul-stirring movies, awesome literature and inspiring company - the last item being the reason I've been an airbnb host since 2009 :-)
I have homes in India and the US, so catch me wherever...and know that even if I'm not home when you visit, I'd have a reliable and friendly person hosting for me. My homes are clean, comfortable and conveniently located - five listings in Mumbai (same location - good for group reservations) and two in upstate NY (same location).
IMPORTANT: Please see photos, descriptions, and previous guest reviews before contacting me, to save our time. Also, know that I may simply not respond if:
a) you have a blank profile
b) you seem to be email bombing many hosts to begin a price war
c) you have no introductions, verifications or reviews, are quite mysterious about your purpose of visit, but still want me to rendezvous with you somewhere and take you - a complete and utter stranger - back to my home for a viewing of the room :-)
That having been said, I'm glad to answer GENUINE inquiries from GOOD FOLKS! And if you end up being my guest, will gladly go out of my way to make your stay a GREAT experience :-)
