In the village you find some small local supermarkets and two restaurants are a short walk from Palmeira guesthouse (5 minutes). In Tavira you can find bigger supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl as a lot of good restaurants! In summer there is a lot to do in Tavira, music, cultural events and a lot of nice terraces to have a drink. Tavira has beautiful old buildings, a Roman bridge with beautiful river, churches and a castle.
Also fisherman’s village Santa Luzia is really close with a cute boulevard, lots of good restaurants with a beautiful view over de Ria formosa.
The nearest beach is Praia do Barril, about 2km. A short 4 minutes by car or a 10 minute bike ride takes you to the Ria Formosa where you can either walk to the beach or take a cute little open train that takes you to the beach. A long white sandy beach that stretches a far as you can look! With some nice restaurants and bars its a real nice place to get your sun, sand and chill mode on :)

Around are lots of nice places to visit. For example Olhão with its harbor where you can take day trips to islands like Armona and Culatra are a real treat. Here you can also find an amazing local fresh market. Fuseta is a smaller village with beautiful beach very suitable for young families as the water is shallower and protected for big waves because of an island in front of it. From Palmeira guesthouse there is a beautiful bike path to Fuseta all trough nature, crossing salt pans with Flamingos.
From Palmeira guesthouse, its a beautiful 15 minute drive by car to the waterfall Pego do Inferno. A real gem!
Also Cacela Velha & Fábrica, Loulé and Praia Verde are real must see places.
Inland there are hills and beautiful walking trails.

In January 2017 we started with the renovation of this old farm with orange orchard to open our guesthouse in April 2018. Year by year we make it more beautiful :) On the land around the guesthouse, besides oranges you can also find avocado, grapes, pomegranate, figs, pear, kaki fruit, apple and lemon trees; fruit of the season is free to take for guests! Come and experience to be in the middle of the orchard in our little getaway with pool! We have three accommodations, a lovely herd of chickens, two cats, Indian runner ducks and little Coco & Izzy; our farm doggies. We welcome you to Palmeira Guesthouse! Jurgen and Carolina
