My home is an old house in an old neighborhood a ten minute walk to historic downtown Charlottesville, Va. or bikeride to UVa. It's full of music and interesting things to look at. There have been lots of musicians, and children growing up here; it's held many amazing shared meals and very sweet times.
My rehearsal space and massage studio are also here- book a wonderful massage with me when you come!
Currently I'm loving the luxury of living alone but also enjoy hosting company (I just had the true joy of working with two musicians from Mexico who stayed with me for a month).
There's onstreet parking, high speed internet, a quiet backyard (with a great El Camino to sleep in under an amazing tree), a front porch to smoke on, a fireplace, and a hot tub.
There is only one bathroom, and the AC is pretty mild in the dog days, but it's a very cool house almost all the time.
Charlottesville's a great town; the University of Virginia is here, but also local Roller Derby and Ladies Arm Wrestling teams-
Funky, artsy space. Very close to downtown. Cathy knows a lot about the local scene and was very accommodating.
Staying with Catherine was truly a delight. She was a fantastic, warm, and welcoming host with an equally awesome home. We were there for a short weekend of adventuring in Charlottesville and this lovely home was perfectly situated-- 15 minute walk to the Downtown Mall and an easy car ride to the main roads. Catherine welcomed us with her homemade kombucha and a message for my partner. Honestly, does it get any better than that? We enjoyed listening to Catherine on her cello and drinking coffee in her sunroom-- the home for all of the indoor plants. We spent wonderful time in conversation and other times just passing ships, which were both great. A truly unique and inspiring home!
Catherine's home was a pleasure to stay in and a perfectly fitting environment for visiting for a Fleetwood Mac concert ;) She was more than welcoming towards my friend and I and I would absolutely stay with her again. The location is perfect! Super close to downtown, the corner and JPJ arena and is super homey. Thanks Catherine! Good vibes your way!
Catherine made me feel right at home the second I walked in the door. Her house reflects her spirit: unique and positive. Though I was only there for a quick stay, I felt quite comfortable. Catherine was a great host, my only complaint is that I didn't have more time to sit and get to know her.
The property itself was very convenient, as it was located close to all the nearby activity. I highly recommend this rental.
Every element of Catherine and her home expresses creative welcome, respect, health and positive life. I am so thankful that my adventure across the country brought me to her, and for the wisdom and peace I received from her. In addition to a fantastic home, I am a traveling athlete and I was able to leverage her massage therapy services towards a better result at a local competition. The entire experience was brilliant and I feel that even in just a short time I made a life long friend. Anyone with love and respect in their heart will experience the same stay. Thank you Catherine!
Cathy was a fantastic host. Her house was beautiful indeed, full of interesting books, musical instruments and art. I was alone in town so she even showed me around town and took me to a music show. I highly recommend staying with her!
Catherine made us feel right at home. She gave us several suggestions for restaurants, and shared lots of advice about the area. The house is so interesting, there are so many little corners and decorations to explore. We had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend a stay at this beautiful, unusual home!
I'm a musician, massage therapist, waitress and bartender living in Charlottesville, Va.
My most recent project has been being part of creating and playing music for an very amazing internatinoal exchange dance/art installation performance piece (much of our company is from Mexico) called The Unearthing (check it out on the web). We did free community workshops around boundaries, exchange, cultural identity, enviornmental sustainability (focusing on mountaintop removal); dance classes, and workshops with kids (I facilitated bucket drums).
I love and have done this kind of work before; mostly sessions on improvisation with music and movement, working with Canadian teenagers to dancers in Mexico...
I also look forward to hosting people through airbnb, which I just discovered.
I'm a licenced (and excellent) massage therapist- (website coming). Come to Charlottesville and get a massage while you stay, or recieve one when I stay with you.
