Great location
93% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
The best hidden gem in ABQ. Originally built as a brothel with attached "wine room" and saloon, this newly restored gem (featured in ABQ The Magazine) is truly unique: featuring thick adobe walls, original wood floors, 11' ceilings, covered portal, brick paths and a fantastic outdoor space (including a vintage 'Alburquerque trolley car'). If you're looking for an authentic New Mexico experience, this is the place for you. Tales of buried money, hidden rooms, and Billy the Kid await you inside. The property is centrally located and just 1-mile from the Historic Old Town Plaza, Museum Row, Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and Downtown ABQ entertainment district.

Guest access
The property has 4 casitas under one roof. The owner suite has a private patio and is located on the east end of the property. Guests can rent one of two casitas located in the middle of the property (a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom). The sleeping rooms are the original brothel rooms. The front entrance to both casitas are located on the south end under the portal (covered porch). Each casita has patio seating under the portal and access to a common area with built-in seating, vintage swings, and a "Ball of Fire" fire pit. All bedrooms have private patios for early morning coffee sessions.

Other things to note
This property also functions as the Painted Lady Bed & Brew. A twist on the traditional B&B concept, Painted Lady Bed & Brew is the first of its kind in New Mexico and one of only a handful of such unique establishments in the country. The Lady was completely overhauled in 2015 with the hopes of bringing people together over a beer. Guests that book on the company website receive a complimentary craft beer happy hour each evening (available to airbnb guests based on availability).

Location

Wells Park, Albuquerque, New Mexico

The brothel is located in the historic Wells Park Neighborhood. The Old Town Plaza, Museum Row, downtown, Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and 4 breweries are within a 15-minute walk. Try the green chile crust pizza at Golden Crown Panaderia, a 5-minute walk through the neighborhood (try our official state cookie there, the biscochito!). For guests with bicycles, one of the city's main bike paths is just around the corner, too. "The Big I" (I-40 & I-25 intersection) is less than a minute away and affords easy access to the rest of Albuquerque.

Co-founder of Albuquerque Tourism & Sightseeing Factory (AT&SF), I have the distinct pleasure of introducing people to Albuquerque. Born in ABQ, my love of the city started at a very young age. I fondly remember watching cartoons where Bugs Bunny made that famous wrong "left toin at Albukoykee." I felt a great sense of pride in this city and wanted to make sure that Bugs never got lost in Albukoykee again (hence the start of ABQ Trolley Co.). After a short stint as a ball boy for the UNM Lobos men's basketball team, my first paid job was selling concessions for the Albuquerque Dukes. I started on 50-cent hot dog night (yikes!). I love hosting visitors at my home, a renovated 19th Century brothel. I am also the proud owner of a three-legged dog named Bill Murray.
