Interaction with Guests
I live in the same apartment and sleep in a separate bedroom. I work in the city centre and I am out quite a lot, so I won't be there all the time. I am glad to share many nice tips about my city.
The Czaar Peterstraat is located at the eastern part of the Amsterdam city centre. The street itself has some great delis - Mondo Mediterraneo, Fromagerie Kef, Sprezzatura, Olie & Zo - and a cozy coffee bar Helena Primakoff. At one end of the street is the famous IJ Brewery and Bar, located in an old windmill. At the other end, hidden behind newspaper offices, is Amsterdam Roest. This is a new bar in an old factory.
The beautiful Artis Zoo & Hortus Botanicus are at walking distance, just as the Eastern Docklands. This latter area has been an important harbor area (the Dutch once ruled the world from this place) and is now known for its modern architecture.
Good restaurants close-by are the Lloyd Hotel, De Plantage (at Artis Zoo), Wilde Zwijnen, and De Kas. For going out in the neighborhood, check out Club Trouw, Club Canvas, and Cinema Kriterion.
The apartment is located 10 minutes by bike or public transport from Amsterdam Central Station. Using public transport, take Tram 26 from Central Station in the direction of IJburg and get off at Rietlandpark. From there you can walk into the Czaar Peterstraat.
Tram 10 stops in front of the apartment and takes you in 10 minutes to the city centre (canal area), the Museum Square (Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, and Van Gogh Museum), the Vondelpark, and the Westerpark.
Other Things to Note
PS On the apartment photos there are two white closets in the living area. These have been removed. The place looks more spatious now.
When leaving the apartment:
- don't forget to take the key with you,
- please lock all doors and close all windows,
- turn off the coffee machine, lights, and heating,
- and carefully close the building door at ground/street level without locking it.
Although Roel was away in Rome, his housemate Nathan was very nice and hospitable. Apartment is in a nice area, with shops and bars around it and very easy to get into city centre (a short bus/tram ride away).
We had a great time staying with Roel. He is a very friendly and accommodating host who had some great advice for us when exploring the city. The apartment is very cosy and comfortable. The neighbourhood is great and there are some really interesting shops nearby. It only took us 20mins to walk into the city, or an easy 10min tram ride. We would definitely recommend staying with Roel.
Roel was a phenomenal host to my boyfriend and I. He gave us great tips for things to see and do around the city. The room was very clean and the apartment is very conveniently located along a tram line. I would definitely recommend this space! Thanks again Roel!
We spent 4 night in Roel's apartment. It has been really great, clean and design'ish flat. The location was perfect. Everything was cool, no remarks at all.
We really enjoyed our stay.
The flat is 15 minutes from Central Station, tram 10 is also very close, so the location is perfect! in the street there is a nice bread shop, wine shop and great italian deli.
The flat is bright, clean, nicely furnished, and there is everything you need to feel confortable!
Roel is a very nice host, I stayed 2 weeks with him and we had a lots of nice diners and he shared good stories about the city and its people. I would definitely recommend to stay at Roel's ! he is a very nice and genuine person !
Although we're been in Amsterdam only for three nights, during new year's eve, we found Roel's place absolutely clean cozy, tastefully furnished and well warmed up. The appartament is not exactly in the city centre but is well connected with only 10 min by bus! Roel let us to use cd player (with an assorted collection of music), tv and washing machine, also if we didn't need it...Unfortunately we met him just for the check in, but he's a very nice master of the house with a lot of usefull advices about places to eat or to go during your stay. I heartily recommend this spot.
