The travel bug bit me on my first trip to Spain in 8th grade. I went on to study Spanish & Social Sciences, spending a summer volunteering in Mexico and doing medical interpreting. I have also been on my share of regular vacations and tours, but my favorite trips are always the ones where I get to stay with regular people in a regular community, rather than in a tourist area, but it's not always easy to do that in an area where you don't already have a connection. Air BnB helps make those connections : ) The biggest surprise to me has been how much I have learned, not from traveling, but from hosting. Air BnB has brought people from all over the world to my little, rural corner of SW Virginia.

Having grownup in Chicago, I developed a fascination with culture; where and how people live and why. I teach high school Spanish and am always on the look out for opportunities to travel and explore, especially Spanish-speaking destinations.

I like to hike and kayak and there are plenty of opportunities to do both, here in the New River Valley. I enjoy live music and craft beer and have a few, nearby, favorite spots for both!
