Interaction with Guests
We like to interact with our guests but are mindful of their need for privacy.
We live in a very small town of Kerikeri that has a real village character. Kerikeri is well placed to explore this area of Northland with about thirty minutes drive to the sea both north and south.
A day return trip to Cape Reinga is possible as is a trip to the scenic Hokianga Harbour on the west coast. Our house also enjoys marvellous rural views across a valley and river to farmland.
It is essential to have your own transport to get around as there is no local public transport system.
We are happy to provide a pick-up/drop off from the Kerikeri Airport or Coach stop.
Any other help with travel can be arranged with prior agreement.
No smoking allowed.
We have a dog who is very protective of her own patch, so no visitors dogs allowed.
Paik and Roy were wonderful hosts and their house is fantastic. We would love to visit again sometime and have some of Paik’s homemade breakfast. If you are looking for a place to stay near Kerikeri this is the place to go.
Paik and Roy are gracious hosts who treat you like visiting friends at their inviting home. We chose their beautiful home because the appearance of the house appealed to us AND LOCATION. Location for a tour day trip to Cape Reigna & 90 Mile Beach with (website hidden) Tours which picked us up at Kerkeri Bakery 5 minutes away from their house. In the morning Paik served an abundant hot and cold breakfast with many delicious choices and to say the least we were pleasantly stuffed. After, she drove us 5 minutes to our pickup for 7:50 am. We were one of the last pick up for this tour while some people were picked up at 7:00 and had to ride that much longer in the morning and on return. We paid $124 each and spent 1 hour less on the bus. Paik recommended restaurants and the Bake House to experience. Places to see in Kerikeri are the oldest Stone Store which is about 15 minutes away, the Bay of Island Honey Shop with the largest beehive in New Zealand, a chocolate factory, a macadamia nut grower and so much more. We said to Paik and Roy that they are "The hosts with the most". We recommend a minimum 3 day stay for this area.

Roy and Paik seem to acknowledge the fact that BnB's don't have to be in a quaint little cottage & run by jaded/nosy hosts. Simply put, they have really packaged up a delightful experience at their stunning home in Kerikeri. During my 2 day stay with them, they defied every BnB Stereotype I had in my head since childhood.
Every element of the stay was completely 5 star - the breakfasts were thoughtful and memorable, with Paik offering up 3 different varieties of museli, fresh fruits, and a full American breakfast served with preserves made from fruits coming from her own garden, she was as thoughtful & easy to talk to as your favourite auntie. Roy steps in and spices things up with great conversation & wonderful recommendations, but without being too overbearing or nosy. Take a walk with him and Sascha (their great dog) and chat about the expatriate life in New Zealand.
The room itself was very well furnished & modern, the white padded carpet throughout was soft & high quality. I fell straight to sleep on a comfortable bed with 6 Fluffy feather down pillows on it, and woke up to a view over a 5th generation 1,000 acre farm that's picturesque countryside at it's finest.
The bathroom is stunning - marble mosaic on the walls & a solid travertine sink, heated towel racks & a quality rain shower head. They had a fast internet connection with tons of blu-ray movies to choose from for entertainment, but when I was at the house, I enjoyed conversing with them too much to turn on the TV.
Their pool was clean & is swimmable during the summer, and the guest rooms are on their own side of the estate so there's plenty of privacy to be had if you need it.
In closing, this is the best AirBnB experience i've had to date - Don't waste your time with the hotels & motels in the area on your northland visit, go up and see Roy and Paik for an experience you will remember!
One of the best airbnb experiences so far. The house is stunning and spacious and the room I got was roomy, cozy and bright. I woke up to the views I would love to wake up every day to. The hosts are lovely people and I am so glad I got to know them. I also loved that this place is out of the way yet close enough to Paihia for my daily adventures. I totally recharged at the place. It was an amazing stay I would certainly recommend it to anyone.
My partner and I stayed in Kerikeri for three nights. Roy and his beautiful family were so warm and inviting. The house was beautiful and the breakfast was amazing (don't forget to try the homemade jam). We would love to stay here again if we head up north again.

About the Host, Roy
I am the male half of a couple who have recently moved to Kerikeri. I used to work in the petrochemical industry as a mechanical designer but have now retired. Paik my wife who is a Chartered Accountant works from home as a sole practitioner. We have travelled extensively and continue to take occasional vacations overseas. After a couple of cruises we are hooked on that form of holiday.
We have two grown up daughters who no longer live at home.
We offer B&B in our modern new home which has spectacular rural views. So far we have really enjoyed hosting our mostly overseas visitors and everyone to date has been very satisfied with the facilities we provide. We have recently decided to join Airbnb to both canvas for clients and also help us find suitable home stays on our travels with other members.
We live in a beautiful area of Northland close to many wonderful beaches and heaps of water activities. We are located approximately 2 kilometres outside of the Kerikeri village high up with extensive rural views. A stream runs along the valley below. We are part of a housing development that is stalled at 30% complete. All section are 3/4 acre and reasonable private to each other. The house has floor to ceiling double glazed windows that slide open to give extensive indoor/outdoor feel to all the open plan living areas. We also have a home theater projector system plus seating to watch movies. The patio is covered by electrically operated louvers and there is a lap pool for those wanting to take a dip. The house enjoys good access with a turning circle and four car parking. There is a covered canopy at the double door entrance.
We offer two rooms both on the ground floor with their own Italian tiled en-suite facilities. One room has a king sized double bed the other two king sized single beds. The rest of the open planned house is shared with us. We provide cooked or continental breakfast.
We have lived in New Zealand for 35 years and although only being in Kerikeri for four years we have a very good knowledge of local attractions to assist visitors with their plans, if they request help. We also are happy to include an airport pick-up and drop off if needed. Paik is a keen gardener and I am a keen sportsman, we both enjoy the card game of bridge and play at the local club.
We enjoy meeting new people and our guests always make favourable comment on how easy going we are in trying to make them enjoy their stay with us. The social interaction with travelers is a big reason for us to be involved in the B & B homestay business. We look forward to making many new friends via this site.
