An old bungalow in the heart of Austin -- blocks from the Alamo Drafthouse Lamar, the Saxon Pub, and The Highball. I am a 20 minute walk to the free concerts at Auditorium Shores and just two miles to the convention center downtown.
I ride my bike downtown every weekend, and it is an easy 15 minute trip, using the very nice Lamar Pedestrian bridge (although on the way back be warned that there is a very steep hill at Flipnotics that will require you to walk up).
My house is a two bedroom, one bath within walking distance to Zilker Park. For rent is the second bedroom, which has a queen-sized futon. If you wish to have additional people in the room on air mattresses, etc I am okay with that. There is one bathroom, so it is shared by all occupants.
Visitors can enjoy free high speed wifi, free DirecTV on an an easy to use home theater setup, and free firewood for the firepit on the back patio. My home also has a charcoal grill and smoker, as well as stainless steel gas appliances. There is a frontloading washer and dryer in my bedroom that you can use if you need.
You may rent bikes at Barton Springs Bike Rental or I may even be able to rent our his & hers cruiser bikes if they are sold out, though an additional deposit would be required.
There is tons of available parking, as I have a gravel driveway and are located on a corner lot. Parking will not be an issue at all (at our home at least -- no guarantees for downtown!).
I will always be on call and available to address any concerns. I am hoping for laid back folks who are here to have a good time. I am not a professional hotelier, but I will try my best to be accommodating however I can!
Stayed at Rick's place during the SXSW festival and I couldn't have wished for a better place. Rick's house is clean and very well maintained. The room was perfect and comfortable. And the bathroom was awesome - by far the best shower I have ever used! Still can't believe Rick did all the work himself.
The neighbourhood is residential and quite but downtown is just a 10 minutes drive away. There's also a bus stop within walking distance and the bus puts you in the heart of the action - in 6th street with all its bars and restaurants.
The airport is 15-20 mins away.
Rick himself is super nice and extremely helpful. (He even offered to pick me up at the airport!) He made me feel comfortable and at home and if I have to stay in Austin again - I hope his room will be available.
