Island Breeze Bungalow is located in the heart of Hawaii's tropical rain forest. The bungalow is located half way between the town of Hilo and Volcanos National Park.
We have a plantation-style bungalow (780 sq ft each) with vaulted ceilings, a spacious master bedroom featuring a king-sized bed with luxury linens, a glass tiled walk-in shower with garden views, full gourmet kitchen with stove/oven and microwave, and it's all connected by a gracious 2,200 sq ft lanai (deck) and a beautiful pool. The Island Breeze Bungalows are located at the end of a secluded road in Hawaiian Paradise Park (HPP). We have built a loyal following of repeat guests.
Our luxury Hawaiian Vacation Rental has a custom pool, fun patio, a BBQ, 2 mountain bikes, and a set of snorkel gear for your use. Our pool is eight feet deep and lighted for those midnight swims. Hawaiian Paradise Park (HPP) is ideally located on Hawaii Big Island half-way in between all the sights in Hilo and the spectacular Volcano National Park.
This is a non smoking adult rental. There is a $50 cleaning fee.
We had a wonderful time at Hamlet's bungalow! We were expecting it to be nice from the pictures, but it was even nicer in person. The thatched ceiling inside the bungalow gave it a nice tropical feel. Eating breakfast on the lanai facing the backyard and pool each morning was great. The bed is huge and very comfortable, and the bathroom with the walk-in shower was quite luxurious. We enjoyed listening to the coqui frogs at night through the open windows, and the roosters in the morning did not bother us. A number of little extras were included, like beach towels and mats, and Hawaiian coffee (and sugar/nondairy creamer). There were lots of things in the cabinets and under the sinks in case we needed them... even a mini hair straightener. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything we would have needed to cook full meals, though we only ate breakfast there. My boyfriend enjoyed using the pool twice, although I refrained since it was unusually cool and rainy when we were there. We only saw Hamlet when we checked in, even though he lives right next door, but we knew we could contact him if we needed anything, and it was clear he respected our privacy. The location worked well for us for visiting Volcano National Park, the Hilo area, and exploring the Puna area. It was slightly off the beaten path but not hard to get to. The value for the price was incredible - I have paid much more for places half as nice. I highly recommend staying at Hamlet's if you are in the area!
Hamlet is extremely warm and welcoming while completely respecting a guest's desire for privacy. He is knowledgeable and enthusiastic when asked for recommendations about activities and locations on the island.
Hamlet's bungalows were exactly as described on the listing. They were clean, tidy and very well equipped with a great interior decor rivaling the best of hotels! The kitchen is very well equipped with the usual stuff: pots, pans, cutlery, glasses, stove, oven, drip coffee machine, fridge, dishwasher, etc. And Hamlet even left out a fresh bag of coffee for our stay :)
The photos do a very good job of showing the place. We found it a great place to relax and explore the east side of the big island.
Outside of the bungalows is landscaped very well and the surrounding neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. We feel asleep to the noises of the forest each night.
Hamlet stays in the second bungalow on the grounds and was very welcoming, polite and friendly.
We found it a great place to stay but this might not be for everyone as it is about 20 or 30 minutes drive to restaurants, shops and supermarkets.
Hamlet met us outside as soon as we arrived. He seems knowledgeable about the area and happy to help. He's also out of sight unless you need something. He has a designated parking spot for guests which is very close to the door--so that was great. I felt like the bungalow was actually a little bigger than I expected from the pictures. It's conveniently located between Hilo and the Volcano Park--which was what I wanted. The neighborhood is quiet. We did hear the occasional dog barking but it didn't disturb us. There are lots of birds and frogs that were actually nice to listen to. The house is very clean, well decorated, and had all the amenities we needed. I was very happy with our stay and hope that I'll be able to visit again in the future.
Stayed here during our honeymoon. Loved it and would recommend it n stay again. It's on the the more wet n less tourist side. Takes about 2.5 hours to get to Kona side with best dining. It was remote enough for us. Close to NP. Hamlet was personable n helpful with local information.
Staying at Hamlet's Island Breeze Bungalow was a very positive experience. Hamlet's place was exceptionally clean, spacious and comfortable. The bungalow is surrounded by a gorgeous garden and is teeming with wildlife (we loved all the sounds of the outdoors). The windows and sliding doors are large and let in nice cool breezes which the many beautiful fans pushed around to all corners of the house, although you will find it difficult to remain indoors all day. Hamlet has an excellent eye for style, no need to opt to stay in a posh hotel, all the luxury can be found here. His pool and outdoor kitchen were a dream to use. We were able to make many a romantic dinner ourselves. Hamlet made himself available to us if we needed him, but definitely respected our privacy. Hamlet was also very flexible and accommodating when we were initially trying to book, very easy to communicate with! Down the road you will find the rocky coast, whales were easily sighted, and the views are magnificent. This is the place to stay if you are looking for a secluded oasis away from the bustling city to relax (it is only a quick drive into Hilo to get all your necessities). Also a great launching pad to explore the wonders and beauty of the east side of the Big Island. Many Mahalos, Hamlet!
