B&B: Comfort on the Azores paradise

House - Private room · Povoação, Ilha de São Miguel 9650, Portugal

The Space

Hello.
I would like to share my house with those who want to know S. Miguel, the largest island of Azores.
The house is located in Povoação, the first village founded by the Portuguese after the discovery of The Azores.

Nearby, you can find Lagoa das Furnas, Caldeiras das Furnas, Praia da Ribeira Quente and Miradouros in the road from Povoação to Nordeste.

To visit all the island, you need to rent a car; it doesn't matter where you're staying, you'll always need a car: the most interesting spots are not reachable by bus (in fact, the bus doesn't run often in the island). Concerning to the car rental, I can give you some suggestions, if you need.

The house has all the comfort: wireless internet, cable tv, fireplace, big garden, parking places, ...It's a recent construction, with modern decor and is located in a quiet spot with excellent views over the Atlantic Ocean. It's a residential neighborhood. The markets, bars and restaurants are in the village, about two minutes (driving) from the house.

This particular bedroom is cozy, full of light and has plenty of storage space. In there, exist two single beds, but they can be put together and they become a couple bed (180x190). I also have an air mattress for children and a baby crib (we can agree on a symbolic price). There are also a chair, a bedside table, a mirror and a bookcase.

You can use the kitchen and all its utensils, but you should leave it as clean and tidy as you found it. In fact, the guests may use the whole house, except the other bedrooms,

If you come with a group (more than two people), relatives or friends, and if you need more space, i can offer you two more bedrooms, but you have to book it separately on airbnb (please take a look at my other offers).

The guests are free to use the running treadmill, in the garage, if they want to practice some physical exercise. They can also running or walking outdoors: there's a perfect path for that, five minutes away (by foot)...

I prepare breakfast and everybody enjoys it: everyday I make homemade bread (still warm, depending on your waking up time :)) and cake and some local products: milk, tea, jams, butter, cheese, ...

I have a license for hosting, according to the Portuguese Law.

If you decide to stay with me, I'm sure you won't regret.

  • We were heartly welcomed by Carla in a wonderful modern home with an incredible view over land and ocean and a cosy wood fire against the freshness of the late winter on the Acores. Additionally - and that's what we really liked - we were instantly "used" as cushions by Carla's two cats. The bedrooms are really practical with lots of stowage place and the two bathrooms are as spacious, you could easily dance within.
Carla prepares an excellent breakfast with homemade bread and cake and assists in any questions you may have. It was a wonderful experience to stay with her and share the confort and beauty of her home!

  • I had an excellent stay at Carla's place.

    - accommodation was very comfortable. The house was clean and well kept, with lots of space to relax.

    - the location was convenient: it was nice to be out of the city in a more relaxed rural setting, but the island is so small one can easily drive from here.

    - the view is just as in the pictures!

    - breakfast provided every AM

It was an unforgettable experience. Carla is the perfect host giving suggestions of restaurants and places to visit. The house is wonderful and the Atlantic is always in the background. No doubt the place to stay when visiting the eastern part of St. Miguel.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Carla's house! Despite the amazing view on the coastline of Povoação (where the weather always seems to be better then on the rest of island (;) the house was clean & bright and Carla was a perfect host during the whole time! She even made breakfast for us (with delicious selfmade cake and once pancakes!).
We can fully recommend staying at Carla's place if you plan to visit the Azores.

  • Carla is a very good, good host. She take care of you and make you feel really confortable. Her house is fantastic, completely dived in a wonderful landscape. From the pictures you can see on the advertisment, you don't understand how good is the house with the long windows who look like as painting of nature scene.
    I'll recomend fully this place!

  • Paradise! Carla is a wonderful host in a great modern house with spectacular views and stylish interior. Carla is a very kind, open, supportive, and relaxed person. She prepares delicious and plentiful breakfasts with home-baked cakes/bread/pancakes. The surrounding of the place is perfect for hiking, beach visits and thermal baths, and all parts of the island are well accessible. Highly recommendable! Carla, thank you for our great 14 days with you. It was just perfect! And we surely will come again. There are still some hikes and beaches we did not explore, and some more whales to watch... Not to forget the shopping.

  • Carla was very helpful, friendly and nice. She offered to pick us up at the bus station and take our luggage to her house. Carla recommended and showed us some places which we should have visited.

The house was on the hill with a wonderful view of the sea, Povocao and mountains around the village. The house was large, bright and modern.

The room was clean and nice with nice and large bathroom and there was also a terrace where we could relax in the evenings with her pets (one puppy and twho cats). Every morning there was prepared breakfeast for us.

We were very satisfied and there wasn't any problem. We can recommend them to all couples who want spent lovely time in Povocao and like animals.

About
Hello! I'm a high school teacher (I teach Portuguese, Latin and Ancient Greek) and I'm very lucky for living in the beautiful island of S. Miguel, in The Azores. I'm a quiet person, who enjoys reading, relaxing on the garden, watching movies and do some hiking (Povoação, the village where I live, has a lot of hiking trails). S. Miguel Island, the biggest of all Azorean islands, is a truly nature's paradise. You can walk around the lakes, visit magic gardens, have a bath on natural hot pools, swim with dolphins, go on a whale watching tour, see volcanos, go to the beach, walk in the middle of the woods for birdwatching, geocaching, hiking, discovering waterfalls or just relaxing. The weather is very unpredictable. Never too cold; never too hot. Please, bring a rain coat and count the rainbows :) Prepare yourself for having the four seasons in the same day. After booking guests will be provided with some suggestions: places to go and activities to do. I have two female cats, Miona and Micas, and a baby dog, a German Shepperd puppy, called Zeus (edited: not so baby anymore...). We would like to share our place with those who want to know S. Miguel. Miona loves to have a different lap everyday and Zeus just wants to play with someone (Micas is more independent). And me... I promess do not disturb you and prepare delicious breakfasts for your mornings (I love to cook, and my homemade cakes are very appreciated :)). We hope to meet you at our place! See you soon!
