Interaction with Guests
Ketut will be on call to answer any queries. He will call by each morning to make sure everything is ok with both you and the house.
Penestanan is becoming an incredibly popular village. Just far enough out of the town centre to get you away from the madness of Ubud Centre, but close enough to walk or scoot into town if you wish to,. There are many artisans and cute cafes etc. At ight you will often hear the Gamelon music coming form the village nearby....
Hire a scooter, walk or catch a ride with a local driver.
Other Things to Note
“Will air-conditioning be required?”
As Ubud is much cooler than the coastal areas a fan is usually sufficient for our guests. The nights are warmer from November to March.
“How do I get to/from the airport?”
We offer an airport transfer service for a fee of Rp300,000. Alternatively, you can get a taxi from the 'arrivals' bay. The journey usually takes about an hour, depending on traffic.
“Are the mosquitoes a problem in Ubud?”
Like all tropical locations, Ubud has mosquitoes (non malarial) - This differs at different times of the year. All beds have mosquito canopies and insect repellant is on hand if needed
Light Menu available for small extra fee:
*10% service charge will be added on all food service.
*You will be billed upon check-out.
Check in is any time after 2:00 pm.
For arrivals at the house at or after 9:00 pm there is a late check-in fee of Rp 150,000. This late fee will not apply if you use one of our drivers to bring you to the house, as they will also be able to walk you and your bags into the house and complete the check in process for you. They are all either family members or completely familiar with our property. The manager will then see you the following morning.
This cottage is beautiful and in a perfect location. This is the absolute perfect place to stay in Ubud right in the heart of the artists village. Ketut is incredible! He was an excellent tour guide and we hired him to take us to the airport too. I highly recommend for your stay in Ubud. Also, try Warung BuBu while you're there! Delicious! Thank you for having us!
This is a beautiful house in Penestanan, a quirky neighborhood a 15 minutes walk away from downtown Ubud. There are plenty of coffee shops and restaurants around. The house it self is beautifully done, with great interior design and nice amenities. It was hard to choose between the hammock, the pool, and the oversized bath tub in the outside shower! House keeper Petut doubles as a driver for outings. The house is set in an urban environment and daily life goes about during the day (renovations next door); the evenings were very quiet though. Loved it!
Had a very relaxed few days at Jagi Bungalow (if you can't find it, it's behind BuBu Warung). The villa is a lovely place to hang out to get away from the centre of Ubud. Great options for dinner within walking distance and Ketut was very helpful.
What a great place! So clean and spacious. Outdoor bathroom was lovely. Enjoyed jumping in the plunge pool after a long hot day of sightseeing!
We arranged for airport pickup but most drivers we found knew where "Jambi villas" was. The house manager Ketut was very polite and took us to money exchange free of charge. Susan was easy to contact and responded to messages right away.
The listing looks just like the pictures except the pool is way smaller than in the image. The villa is one large open space bedroom and small kitchenette. The closet is in the bathroom. There's a small bamboo door that separates you from the neighboring villa. It has no lock.
Some things to note for travelers: Open space concept and roofing means lots of geckos running around. The pool is in the shade and quite cold even on hot days so we barely used it. Some mornings the villa was very cold. The neighborhood was not as quiet as we hoped, suffered through hours of loud construction sounds and Villa is next to path so we could hear locals (staff?) driving/walking/laughing all day. Neighborhood is away from 'the center' of Ubud but still touristy.
On the plus side very safe to walk around and not easy to get lost. Villa was cleaned well everyday.
Some tips- restaurant (warung) attached to villa is good for breakfast/lunch but not for dinner, avoid chicken sandwich completly. Portions are also noticeably smaller than other warungs.
Take a left when leaving villa and walk two minutes until you see a sign called 'Kaduk'. The lady here (Kaduk) speaks excellent English and can do everything from book you tours/drivers to your laundry. We had no plans and just took a half day tour to all the sights- very fun.
This was a nice central place to start our honeymoon in Bali. I stayed 5 nights which may have been too long. No regrets, villa was gorgeous.
Beautiful Balinese cottage, we had such a relaxing stay and would come back again. Saw some beautiful little spots in Ubud. Ketut was very helpful and kind. Thank you so much!
The villa was everything we hoped for, and more. It is really good value with a relaxed, classy feel; as beautiful and peaceful as it appears in the photos. The design allows you to feel close to nature and benefit from natural cross breezes, attractive garden and look up at stars from the open roofed bathroom. We thought it was a good move to stay in this quieter part of Ubud, up a winding road, just a short ride out of town. Ketut, the manager, was totally reliable, helpful and generous with every effort possible- from airport pick up, help with local information and waiting around for us. His unobtrusive support, humble manner and honesty was a major part of the success of the stay. Susan and Ketut both maintained excellent communication which overall combined for an effortless holiday. So much to see and do in this area- my daughter and I wished we could have stayed longer than 3 days and have had more time to hang out at the villa to make the most of this safe and divine space.
