Interaction with guests

Ketut will be on call to answer any queries. He will call by each morning to make sure everything is ok with both you and the house.

Other things to note

“Will air-conditioning be required?”
As Ubud is much cooler than the coastal areas a fan is usually sufficient for our guests. The nights are warmer from November to March.
We have good strong fans to keep the air flowing.
“How do I get to/from the airport?”
We offer an airport transfer service for a fee of Rp300,000. Alternatively, you can get a taxi from the 'arrivals' bay. The journey usually takes about an hour, depending on traffic.
“Are the mosquitoes a problem in Ubud?”
Like all tropical locations, Ubud has mosquitoes (non malarial) - This differs at different times of the year. All beds have mosquito canopies and insect repellant is on hand if needed

Also, the area is teeming with birds and wildlife, occasionally these critters might "trespass" ... as they have no idea of man-made boundaries. The staff cleans thoroughly daily, so be assured we move them on and there are no actual "residents". If you are squeamish about such things then you may want to find alternative accommodations in area

This place is beautiful and very quiet. If you don't want to stay at the crowded center this place is perfect and it is not too far from the center. Nano was also very friendly and always ready to help us.

Nano's place was great! As described and has all you need for a relaxing stay. Easy to walk to town or very good if you want to rent a scooter (with or without Nano's assistance). No air con but it cooled down nicely in the evening so the fans were perfect. Would definitely consider staying there again next time we're in Bali.

If you're looking for a quiet and beautiful place, then this might be the one! There is no air-conditionning system but fans are actually enough. Nano has been extremely helpful.

Nano's villa was an exceptional experience and exactly the reason we enjoy using AirBnB throughout our travels. I would live there in a heartbeat and certainly didn't want to leave! Service and contact with the host were exceptional throughout and can't be faulted. It appears exactly as in the photographs, if even more impressive in reality. The Villa is tucked away down a side alleyway and provides a high walled, beautiful, quiet garden oasis on the fringes of busy Ubud. It is very well equipped with the basics and meticulously cleaned daily whilst you are out and about. The pool is cool and refreshing and the outdoor bathtub is a real delight, particularly on a starry night. If you are precious about humid heat or insect life as many reviewers have identified this is not the place for you - we thoroughly enjoyed the warmth, escape from ubiquitous air conditioning and glimpses of a friendly gekko or butterfly. There are plenty of fans, insect repellant and mosquito nets on the bed to keep you comfortable. The villa is walking distance into Ubud but it is a fair trek, particularly in hotter parts of the day. We also couldn't find an ATM nearby which was a minor inconvenience in a cash-run area. Plenty of high quality, inexpensive warungs are on the doorstep though so you won't go hungry! Overall a fantastic stay; we would recommend the villa to others and would visit again.

This house was a great way to end our Bali trip! It is beautiful, clean, spacious and very private. The pool is nice and cold, therefore a great way to cool off in the humid Bali-heat. The house was well equipped with everything you will need. Keep in mind though, there is no airco, but two very well working ceiling vans. We took a cold shower before bed, to cool off (together with the ceiling vans this was enough for us). The center is a 15 min walk, but then you're only at the beginning of the center. As the center is huge, it's good to put some walking shoes on ;) Gekko's, lizards and squirrels are everywhere! We loved it, but if you're squeamish about this, then it might not be the best place for you ;) We encountered heaps of ants in the house on the last night, but with the supplied bug spray, we could get rid of them ourselves. Restaurant tips: in the street around the corner, there are some great places to eat! Element: for some non Indonesian food. Good cocktails too (they have happy hour from 13:00 to 20:00) Pacha Mama: very hip Mexican place with some amazing food! They don't serve meat, but the owner told us that they are starting a meat restaurant upstairs. Warung Mendez: good Indonesian food (although not the best we had on Bali) One last thing: AirB&B shows the villa name as 'Pondok Maya', but actually it's called 'Naya', which gave us a lot of issues, as the driver couldn't find the right place. I would 100% recommend staying here! It's well worth it and Nano is a very sweet guy, that replies to your question very swiftly.

Response from Nano:
Thanks Kyla for the lovely review of your stay. Just want to clarify for future guests that the property is indeed Pondok Maya (not Naya). It is part of the Jagi Bungalows compound. Nano waits for a call from drivers to give exact directions as it is just a little way down a path behind Bubu Warung. So pleased you enjoyed staying with us.

We had a great couple of days in this nice cottage. The garden is great, a lot of different well-kept plants, nice fauna (gekkos, squirrels) and an inviting pool. The cottage is situated about 15 minute walk to Ubud centre, where it is very busy with scooters, cars, fellow tourists and local Indonesian vendors. It was really nice to return to a quiet and private home, with a fully equipped kitchen and a stunning bathroom and meditation area. The first two days though, the place was run over with ants (approximately 400–500 of them). We found a lot of ants in our bed. We notified Nano (who took great care of us during our stay) and a solution was promised, but sadly not delivered on. Although Nano was not at fault for this (he is the always happy and smiling employee), if it where my cottage to rent out and guests were in a similar situation, i'd offer them a compensation for the 1–1 1/2 days (not offer them the task to find a new cottage on such short notice and move there with all the stuff they brought). All in all, I'd still recommend this cottage to fellow travellers.

Response from Nano:
Bali is in the tropics. Ubud in the jungle. When it rains heavily there can sometimes be an influx of insects as they are disturbed. We explain this in our house manual and do our best to alleviate such things. If you are uncomfortable with some insects or lizards etc I really recommend staying in a hotel that is fully enclosed. Bali is a tropical country. Our lovely staff clean every day, provide insect repellants and go out of there way to ensure comfort for the guests. We offered this guest full refund to find alternate accomodation but they declined. To ask for financial compensation but stay at the property is unreasonable. I'm pleased you enjoyed the remainder of your stay however as it is such a magical spot.
