A quiet cottage, plenty of space

House - Private room · Mulach St, Cooma, NSW 2630, Australia

The Space

Just on the edge of town and in delightfully quiet location. The only sound is from the creek and the sheep on the other side of the creek. Plenty of outdoor living space, a verandah and a lawn for soaking up the sun. The garden has berries, fruit, vegetables and herbs. You can walk out the front door and into the bush for a relaxing walk with good views and even meet some of the wildlife.
Free internet, parking, workshop, trampoline, Childrens toys and activities, 2 Km from the shops. The perfect place to stopover on the way to the coast or the mountains. Transport available to the Snowy Mountains during winter.
2 bedrooms, a large lounge living room and a smaller lounge, 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets. The kitchen has all that is required to serve up a banquet and a separate dinning room. A cot and highchair is available for small children.
Cooma is a great place to spend a few days. Just over 100 Kms away is the nation's capital, Canberra, as is the coast and the towns of Bega, Tarthra, Bermagui and Bemboka. A little further on is Merimbula, Pambula and Eden.
Less than 100 Kms away are the snow ski resorts of Perisher Valley and Thredbo. Other towns nearby are Berridale, Jindabyne, Adaminaby and Bombala.
For the fisherman there are plenty of locations to chose from: Providence Portal, Anglers Reach, Lake Eucumbene, Lake Jindabyne and many creeks and streams, just ask a local resident.

  • Adrian is a very friendly person who cares for his guests. It's like a visit to an uncle in the countryside. We had nice conversations with him. A great plus is the breakfast with him. The house is situated a bit outside of Cooma, very quiet and with a liitle luck you can see wild kangaroos (as we did).

  • Thank you very much Adrian, for sharing your house with us. We felt very comfortable and welcome. What a privilege to be in a real Australian home like I imagined it to be : gumtrees, plumtrees, sheep or 2 and a kangourou, clothesline at the back, veranda at the front : we loved it! We had a great time here, Cooma is a nice little town and we did some nice walks, like the one to the top of Australia (Thredbo : Kosciuszko mountain). We stayed 3 days, we highly recommend this BnB.

  • We stayed at Adrian's for one night but we really enjoyed our stay. Too bad that we couldn't meet him because he was away. The house is in the middle of natural, it's absolutely beautiful. We had a very relaxed time in his house. The bedroom was the perfect size and it was clean. We highly recommend staying there to anyone.

  • Our two nights in Adrian's cottage was lovely. Sadly he wasn't there for us to meet him and show us around. We met his daughter once who popped in and the lady who was house sitting, i talked lots with her. It was nice to have the cottage to ourselves though. Wildlife was all around us to. But myself and partner just took it easy, was nice stay and to have some space. Thanks Adrian.

  • Our 2- days at Adrian were exact what his airbnb- adress says: a quiet cottage with plenty of space! We didn't meet himself, neither his daughter. ( only by mail and telephone). But the welcome from Tracy, a longstayguest, ws very warm.

  • Adrian is a fantastic host, he was welcoming and very happy to give advice on what we could do in the area. His house is lovely and he gives a very nice breakfast. The cherry on top for us was seeing kangaroos in the garden and an echidna on a nearby walk.

  • Would love to have had more than a brief overnight stay here. Adrian was a great host even though he had family staying. He is a very interesting man and has some great travel stories and knows the surrounding areas very well. The room was comfortable and a beautiful outlook.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Settlers Cottage. It's in a very quiet valley, with horses & sheep across the road, and in the evening we saw several kangaroos. The house is very comfy & clean, & our daughter was delighted to find a trampoline to play on.The garden is very pretty, with bush right behind the house. Can hightly recommend.

I love to be out and about, mainly in the bush, be it walking, skiing, climbing , paddling..... or whatever. Recently I have taken up the sport of fencing. Keeping up my fitness to do all of these things is important but I am not fanatical about any one of them. I am self employed and contract out for a wide diversity of jobs, from optical fibre networks to gardening. I enjoy tinkering with electronics and building things. Cooking and gardening keep my busy at home and I will often cook meals just for the fun of it. My house almost always is full of music. All types, sometime up-beat, sometimes relaxing. I believe that sharing and helping others is important so I spend time and energy volunteering.
