Martina and Richard's B&B has a comfortable bed and an amazing view of the Kinsale harbor. Breakfast in the morning was delicious -- probably the best breakfast I had in Ireland! The house is just a quick walk down to one of the best-rated pubs in the area, the Bulman. I was appreciative of Martina and Richard's sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. The house and room were very clean, although there was a powerful scent of cleaning chemicals (just as a note for those who are sensitive to such products).
Just back from a lovely few days exploring the wild atlantic way. Our first stop was in the beautiful, luxurious, warm, friendly "anchor b&b" in Summercove. Kinsale is a lovely town but this little "suburb" is a real cute corner of Ireland. We woke up to a stunning view of the bay, a great breakfast and a wonderful experience at the historic Charles Fort, just a walk a way. I would thoroughly reccommend this as a place to stay.
Martina was visiting with family during much of our stay, so we mostly interacted with Richard who was a very warm and generous host. Their home is lovely, and the bed incredibly comfortable.
After we got in in the evening, Richard offered to make a dinner reservation for us and then drove us into Kinsale to make it in time which was very nice after a long day of driving.
The breakfast in the morning was tasty and the coffee the best we had during our stay in Ireland.
I would definitely stay at Martina and Richard's B&B again- a great view of the harbor, comfortable room, and wonderful hospitality.
We would highly recommend this stay to anyone looking to stay in Kinsale! The location is fantastic- it is a bit of a walk from the town center (with lots of hills), but there is plenty to do right around you and the views from the house are gorgeous. We arrived late so took a drive into town with plenty of great restaurants and bars. Then we drove the car back to the house to park and took the very short walk to The Bulman Bar- one of our favorite pubs from our entire 2 wk trip in Ireland. Richard was very welcoming and we really enjoyed talking with him. He gave lots of great suggestions on hikes to do and places to eat- all of which were fantastic! The house is right next door to Charles Fort, which is a great attraction along with beautiful a beautiful hiking trail along the water. The accommodations were just as beautiful as pictured and breakfast is great! Highly recommend staying here- we only wish we had stayed longer!
We enjoyed our experience in Kinsale and our hosts made us very comfortable. The accommodation was better than we expected (and we had high expectations) - the night views were wondeful. There was a breakfast menu - and cooked to perfection.
Martina and Richard were marvelous hosts. They put us in a room with stunning views of Kinsale across the water. Their home is immaculate and wonderfully comfortable. They were generous with local knowledge and recommendations for walks, restaurants, and sights to see in their area. We would love to return and spend more time in this beautiful area of Ireland.
Richard's and Martina's lodge is a dream, situated at a hill with a pitoresque view on the bay and Kinsales harbour. We absolutely appreciated our stay. Every detail in the house is lovely and elegant and Richard's way to welcome and host us let us feel both home and like on a luxoury holiday. We slept very, very well and the breakfast was amazing with a huge variety of fruits, cereals and bread and all kind of irish breakfast. Richard was a great host and I wish him and Martina all the best and many nice guests. We did not have the pleasure to meet Martina yet, but I'm so sure we will when we once travel to the southern coast again. Thank you, Richard!

I was born and raised in Summercove and so am a true native of the area. I met my husband Richard, when he came over for the Kinsale Jazz Fringe Festival and he ended up moving over just over 2 years later.
We have both traveled extensively and enjoy other cultures, cuisines, music and meeting local people. Our favourite way to travel is to book a flight and a vehicle and then see where it leads us. Now we've found airbnb, future trips should be even better.
