Very beautiful the villa! Like the most beautiful one ever see! Can't be more happy to stay!!! Love it and sure will go back again!!
What can I say about Made that hasn't already been said in the reviews below! By far the best airbnb host we have met on our travels so far. There wasn't a single question or task that was too big or small for him. From arranging extra adaptors to pulling strings and getting our party of 5 a (last minute) table at Locavore.
The villa is equally impressive! Exactly as it appears in the photographs. Perfectly located on a rice paddy in (what seems) the middle of nowhere BUT in fact you are only 5-10 minutes away from Ubud-town by car. Bikes are also available but we preferred the amazing drivers on hand... By the end of our 45 day stay, we knew them all... Ketut, Dewa & Nyoman.
Things we miss already... Sugi's banana pancakes made fresh in the villa for breakfast, Wayan's guided walks through the rice paddies (make sure to pack a pair of old tennis shoes), Putri's authentic Balinese dinners (again) made in the comfort of your own villa. And finally a special mention to Darma the surya light healing massage therapist -- I cannot recommend this treatment highly enough. At 8pm the massage table can be set up in the master bedroom for a 90 minute treatment (with low light). Your best night's sleep will follow.
For the foodies: chef's menu at Locavore, the dendeng balado at Hujan Locale, ceviche & steak at Pica, cold noodles at Minami, brunch (on a Sunday) at The Elephant.
For the spa enthusiasts: Tjampuan Spa (get there early to spend time in the grottos -- hot & cold plunge pools), Cantika for a facial in the garden (all of their locations are off the beaten track & so much fun to find).
Until we meet again...
This place is absolutely amazing - imperfectly perfect (as Made described it, and it couldn't be more accurate!). The photos do not do it any justice, you really have to be there and see it with your own eyes. It is the perfect home away from home, set amongst an abundance of nature both in the surroundings of rice paddies, animals and the beautiful garden, and within the open living plan having the fresh Ubud air constantly travelling through the villa.
The house is perfectly designed for it's surroundings, and is very open with many many windows to enjoy the beautiful views. The kitchen is very well equipped, and has great touches with the large central wooden bench top, as well as the drinking water tap system. The bedroom is even better with a large double bed equipped with mosquito net but hardly needed. The porch that looks out onto the garden, rice paddies and pond is also a perfect touch to relax and take it all in. The bathroom provides an even better experience being virtually outdoors (at least the shower and bath are, amongst the natural centre piece in the form of a Frangipani tree. It gives you a feeling of freedom in nature in a way.
We couldn't speak more highly of this perfect villa, and we can't forget the wonderful staff in Sugi and Nyoman who can prepare some wonderful breakfasts (definitely request Sugi's traditional Balinese pancakes, you won't regret it!) and are perfect housekeepers. Also Wayan the gardener, who is very friendly is mostly always on hand for any assistance.
Which leaves Made, the manager of the villa, who is a wonderful person and has such amazing amount of life experience, and wants nothing more than for you to have the best experience and stay in both the villa and throughout Ubud. We've definitely made a friend in Made.
Can't wait to be back here!
Leaving the place was the hardest thing we had to do. The place is simply amazing. No words can describe how wonderful the house is. Its location in the rice fields yet so close to town makes you have the best of both worlds. In the morning you'll be pleasantly woken up by the quacking ducks and in the night you'll be lulled to sleep by the sounds of crickets and frogs creating a soothing symphony and the fireflies adds some lighting to the show. Its nature at its best. You really have to experience it for yourself. But, in our opinion, what makes Bennu House such an amazing place is the people. A big thank you to Kate for allowing us to share her piece of paradise with us. Made is such a joy to be around with. He is extremely helpful and takes feedbacks seriously. All and any issues were dealt with instantly. Pak Wayan the gardener was extremely helpful and would come back after his working hours just to check how we are doing. We would sit around drinking coffee and he would tell us about the people and the culture in Bali. Missing him so much already. Sugi and her aunt serves delicious breakfast and having a conversation with them is just a joy. Komang and Dharma gives the best massage in Ubud. Its a must try while you are there. Now we're back home, we just can't help missing them so much. My wife and I will definitely be back here soon. If you're thinking of where to put up in Ubud while you're there, look no further. This is a slice of paradise you have to experience for yourself. Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you Made and all your staff for making our stay there the most memorable vacation ever. Looking forward to seeing you again in the near future.
This house blew us away! It really is like living in a dream. My husband and I chose to live here for the first few days of our honeymoon and boy, was it the perfect choice! Its a beautiful timber and glass villa set amidst the rice fields with coconut palms in the distance. We'd wake up in the morning relax on the porch and watch as a fleet of 40 ducks would pass us by, the same would be replaced by fireflies at night. The whole setting is surreal. Every detail of the house is so well planned, there's such a strong sense of beauty in even single artifact. The hosts Made, Phillip and Kate were lovely too. They helped us out with all the questions we had or things we wanted arranged, right from arranging a bike for us, to stocking up the fridge with beers to helping book rafting tours. The place is so quiet, serene and peaceful, and yet only 10 mins away from the Ubud centre (when you take the shortcut). Breakfast was cooked every morning for us at the villa by two wonderful ladies who always made sure we were comfortable. The traditional Balinese pancakes they cooked were my favourite. The place has absolutely no insects or mosquitoes which was one of the doubts I had while booking the place. It truly is a wonderful place to be. The pictures shown are extremely accurate. What you see is what you get. All I've done since leaving the villa, is rave about it! It truly was a gorgeous holiday in the most beautiful home!
Winderful place! U feel really free in the middle of rice fields. House completely met our expectations: great design and fubctionality. . Our host Made made advices regarding restoaurants to visit and provided us with motorbikes at rrasonable price. Must be visited 100
We had a wonderful time in Bennu House. This place was fantastic. From the moment we got there we were captivated by the view. The villa’s spacious, clean, comfy, nicely decorated and quiet. We enjoyed every second of our holiday in this villa and would love to stay longer next time.
Made and the rest of the staff were exceptional and made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable. Booking was a breeze. Communication with the host was great and helped make the trip so easy to organize. Made respond time was fast and helpful. He gave us all the information and clear direction how to reach the villa which turned out really useful. He helped us to arrange the bike rental, taxi service, and helped us to book a wonderful cycling tour. He knew a lot about Ubud and gave us many good guidance and advices.
Sugi kept us very happy by cooking delicious food for us every morning and we had a feast of exquisite Balinese dinner as well.
It was truly a memorable holiday for us.
