Had a really pleasant weekend here. Very quick (4-5 minute) drive into downtown Ojai, and the apartment was very cozy. Peaceful and easy, and really enjoyed how clean and organized the place was. Looks in real life exactly like the photos, too!
Kim's place was exactly what we were looking for. We needed somewhere private, and quiet to work on some music and get away for the weekend. Her place was perfect, in a very nice location, and Kim gave us all the privacy we needed. There were lots of cool locations to hike nearby, and the room/house itself was set up perfectly. Highly recommended.
We needed a place to stay while looking for a place to rent in the area and Casita's Suite was perfect. Private entrance, fenced off yard (which our dogs loved), charming neighborhood and cozy sleeping/living area with a kitchen (small, but fully equipped).
The bathroom does not have a sink, which was slightly odd, but the kitchen sink worked just fine.
I do agree with a previous entry about the neighbors dogs barking, but they might have been more vocal because of our dogs.
The owner was really nice and helpful, and gave us a couple of tips on what to do and where to go.
Where do I begin. Such a great, cozy casita in a humble loving neighborhood. A perfect picture of Latin Americana. The owner of the space has done such a great job of keeping it homey. And the coordinator is attentive, warm, and professional. Minuets from cute local stores, and easy access to Santa Barbara. Rest your head at this relaxing, quaint, air b&b.
With amenities such as a mini fridge, AC, full stove top, and a deep tub with an overhead shower this suite is ideal for an Ojai Valley retreat. The bed is comfortable and the bookcases are well stocked. I appreciated the private entrance.
If I'd seen the previous review (from Jon) I wouldn't have booked this place but it turned out to not be at all bad as he wrote. Granted, we did have the fan on all the time which mostly masked the sound of the main house's heating/cooling machine on the patio. Heard the dog over the fence only once, when I was outside. I think they must have moved the fridge behind the wall because I didn't hear or feel it ever and I'm extremely sensitive to such things.
We did have to turn the small fridge in the room off at night, it starts pretty quiet but after a while reaches a high pitch. But again, I'm a light sleeper.
Loved the book selection, some really nice classics. The furniture and odds and ends were nice, felt like a real house. Appreciated the real light bulbs in the lamps (not CFL). Loved the well stocked kitchen and the real pots and pans (not the usual cheap teflon).
The deep bath/shower was very nice.
Everything was clean and no strong chemical smells which I was grateful for.
The weather was hot while we were there but the full shades and a/c and fan worked well and it cooled down quickly.
Communication was quick and easy but there must have been a misunderstanding as we emailed late on the last night inquiring about how late we could check out (as it was stated "flexible check out time") and were told regretfully check out was now 11am. We protested and then got to check out at 1pm so it was fine.
All in all a good stay. The area is quite peaceful.
This spot has some good things about it for sure but.....first off the good. It has nice furnishings, It was pretty clean and there are good books to read. The books are very helpful since the wifi is painfully slow and theirs no TV. It also has a pretty nice patio that has mountain views. On the other hand, no bathroom sink, dogs right over the fence that keep up a sporadic but consistent ruckus all day. The back wall apparently has fridge on the other side because you can hear and feel it come on about twice to three times an hour. There's also a central heating of cooling monster on the patio that comes on a few times a day that sounds like a diesel truck. Fortunately it didn't stay on too long but then it wasn't all that hot. If Ojai is all sold out this is a decent last option.
