1,950-sq ft, 4 bedrooms + 1 office, 2 full baths, city and hills views, spacious garden, Eichler house, mid-century moderm, full of lights, kids-friendly, large living room with adjacent familly room/kids' play area.
House underwent a major renovation during the summer 2010. Mid-century modern Eichler 4-BDR + 1 office 2-Baths, 1-story house, with large living room and adjacent family room/kids' play area. Main living quarter is walled with large windows on one side, opening up to a large deck and garden with a lawn the size of a tennis court. The house is furnished in a modern style. The island kitchen is open and sits in-between the dining area and living room. Visitors are usually struck by the modern vibe, the open space, and the amount of light. The house offers city, hills, and sky views from the master bedroom and main living area. Spacious deck in front of the house, overlooking the garden, with views of the hills.
The house is located in the Terra Linda neighborhood of San Rafael, CA, 20 minutes from the Golden Gate and San Francisco, in beautiful Marin County, next to fantastic outdoors, and the wine country of Napa and Sonoma
Access: Guest shall allow Homeowner or his delegates (e.g., housekeeper, handy man) access to the property for purposes of repair, inspection, and ongoing maintenance. Homeowner shall exercise this right of access in a reasonable manner.
Number of guests: limited to the number agreed upon at rental.
Location:The house is located in Terra Linda, a residential neighborhood in San Rafael, CA. You will receive instructions regarding the key and general instructions one week before your arrival date, upon reception of the security deposit.
Media and Communications: The house comes with free Wi-Fi throughout the house, powered by cable Internet. The house has no TV. A landline phone limited to local and emergency numbers is available. The house has a Geneva L iPod/iPhone, CD, FM sound systems. If you bring your music on a iPod or iPhone, you will be able to plug it into the sound systems and broadcast music in the living area.
Smoking: There is no smoking in our home. If you smoke outside, please dispose of your cigarette butts properly in the trash. Ensure disposing of butts does not create a fire hazard in the trash.
Special care items
There are four special care items guests should keep in mind:
• The leather chairs and sofas in the living area are fragile items. They stain easily and can be easily scratched. Please refrain having your party from eating in the living room area. Handle any drinking in this area with care. No shoes on the furniture please.
• Use supplied table cloth over the hardwood table in the dining area when eating on it. Use supplied mats when placing hot pots on the table.
• Please handle the Geneva L sound system with care, do not place any object on it, as it scratches easily (be careful not to drop the remote control on it).
• The kitchen sink is equipped with a disposal unit/crusher. However, please do not dispose of anything (e.g., organic materials) using that equipment as it could result in clogging the pipe.
There is no A/C in the house. However, the house has excellent insulation due to its foam roof, and if you keep the windows closed during the hot day, it will literally feel like A/C is running in the house. Open the windows early in the morning and in the evening, only when the heat has abated.
Heat: If you feel cold, do not adjust the heat system manually since it’s a radiant system, the heat won’t quickly swing up. If you are cold, it’s easier to start a fire in the fireplace; the fireplace will quickly warm up the house. Make sure to turn down the cooking area’s ventilation to “low” if you are operating the kitchen at that time, so the smoke is not pulled in the house. Feel free to use the wood stored on the side of the house. Open the fireplace trap before starting a fire.
Pets: Unfortunately, there are no guest pets allowed in the house. There is a friendly house cat however who comes and go in the house. Guest needs not to block access to the cat who will make use of the self-service feeding system in the house.
Damages: Although we never anticipate any damage, we ask for a US$500 security deposit, fully refundable within two weeks days of departure provided the following:
o No damage is done to our home or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear.
o No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets or collection of rents or services rendered during the stay.
o All trash, rubbish, and discards are placed in the dumpster.
o All doors and windows of our home are left locked.
o All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure.
o No linens are lost or damaged.
o No early check-in or late check-out, unless prior arrangements have been made.
o The guest(s) is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner), or the local law enforcement.
Before your departure, we would appreciate if you would take care of the following:
o Place all used bed sheets and towels in the laundry room
o Load the dishwasher and start it
o Return all furniture and accessories to their original locations
o Gather all trash and place in the trash cans outside
o Check all doors and windows to be sure that they are locked
o Return house key in designated lockbox
This well equipped and comfortable home was ideal for our English family of four adults and one 3 year old's stay in the area. The location was excellent, with easy access to Highway 101, and the well stocked Scotty's grocery market just a few minutes walk away. We also enjoyed good hiking and mountain biking nearby.
Our host was very obliging and easy to communicate with.
We would be happy to stay again for a similar visit.
