Absolutely wonderful place. Great location well appointed and host is most helpful indeed. I have only praise for this stay, will definitely be back.
David's apartment was very clean and overall a really nice place to call home for a stay in New York. A lot of other reviews mentioned David's great communication however we did not experience this at all. The xbox to watch tv or Netflix on was broken so the only access to tv was through Apple TV where you have to pay, which means his claim that the apartment comes with tv is fairly pointless. David failed to respond to us when asking about the xbox cord that had obviously been bitten through. We had an issue with the super of the apartment forcing his way in due to a plumbing issue, and David's response to this was neither timely nor helpful.
The apartment is located on avenue C a few block away (probably around 10 min walk) to the L train. The apartment is opposite a recycling or power plant of some sort which meant it was quite loud at night and the bedroom was incredibly bright so not the place to stay if you want a peaceful relaxing sleep. It was also situated amongst projects which isn't the most ideal walk home from the station at night although nothing actually happened.
I don't mean to sound negative, I am just wanting to fully outline the issues we did not for see to any future guests. The apartment itself is clean and styled nicely.
The photos perfectly reflect David's apartment-- full of character with fun artwork and quirky charm. Clean and well-kept. The bed was comfy, the shower had great water pressure, and the wifi was impressively fast. We had no problems picking up the keys from a shop downstairs and David was responsive via text when we had questions on anything in the apartment (tip, the heat in this place works GREAT but takes awhile to cool back down-- open lots of windows ;) The bedroom does face the street and can get a little noisy throughout the night, but it's NYC and to be expected. There are bus stops directly outside the apartment and it's a 10 min walk to the L-train, which takes you quickly into Brooklyn or to Union Station, where you can transfer and get just about anywhere in Manhattan. There are plenty of fun East Village bars and restaurants within walking distance and it was great to stay off the typical tourist path and explore local spots.
Thanks for a great trip, David! We would definitely stay here again!
Had a great time in Manhattan at David's place. Fabulous location, everything as advertised. A lot of cool, weird art. Perfect for a vacationing couple who likes their privacy. Would definitely stay here again!
The apartment is great: clean, warm (during an arctic freeze!) with very cool decor. It is spacious for a NY apartment and just like the pics.
David was extremely easy to communicate with. His apartment was clean, spacious and full of personality. He had some awesome books in his collection and the art was eclectic and interesting. I'd definitely stay in David's space again.
David was incredibly accommodating, and his apartment was amazing. Overall, it was clean, accessible, and fun...we had everything we needed there.
I work in the meat packing district and like to leave town quite a bit. Im a normal young guy looking to rent my apt to similar like minded people. I love traveling and meeting new people.
