It is paradise for those who was tired of hurry-scurry and a civilization: only ocean noise, rustle of corn and sound of bells. That's why here was shot the documentary film about life of the fisherwoman: for the century here changes nothing. And to Porto only one hour! Half an hour of walking and half an hour by the subway. We saw many tourists who specially come here and big money pays for opportunity to feel this life in the fishing village with its unique spirit! Half an hour of walking and there is the cheapest outlet near Porto, where the excellent prices of excellent clothes! House simple and very comfortable. It is spacious and all in it is enough. My big family perfectly in it was located (us two and four children). Incredible view of the ocean! ! ! Days it is possible not to come off! We have a wide experience on travel. This one of the best! We traveled across Minuo. The car took in Villa do Conde. There is the cheap car rental. Very beautiful country! Tremendous mountains and lakes in the national park. And Porto - one of the most surprising cities of Europe. He absolutely isn't "changed and beautified" for tourists and has the "unforgettable face". Thank you, Manuela and George, for everything! Good luck and health!
Manuela gave us a warm welcome, there was fresh bread, tea, milk and home made soap on the table. The location and the village is great; waves hitting the rocks and friendly locals. The interior and the supplies of the apartment are sober and quite basic. A few essentials are missing.
The location is really quiet and the car could be parked on a private parking space, which was gave us a save feeling, since we had a rental car.
I would come back for a summer stay, but I can imagine it getting quite cold in the winter because there is no central heating. Though it can be really cosy with the fireplace and electric heaters.
The nature trail was a nice walk along the super clean beach, it has some archaeologic highlights.
Check out the " supermarket" which seems to be from another age.
We had a wonderful time in Via Cha, about 30 mins outside central Porto. It's a tiny fishing village on the blustery Atlantic coast. The main square still has the communal sinks and washing lines where the local women do their washing. The fishing boats were always banked up on the sand and the fishermen mending their nets by the time we got up. It's a quiet village, with a few cafes, a bakery and a couple of restaurants, all of which are phenomenally cheap! 60c for a coffee! It was a great location for us and our two little boys. The local news agent sold buckets, spades and specially got a kids fishing rod for us. We spent hours building sandcastles, fishing (kind of) and picking star fish off the beach. We spent 4 days there which was perfect.
The apartment was lovely. It really is right on the beach, just a quiet road separating you from the roaring waves. Lovely sunsets accompanied by a sundowner from the comfort of your own sofa. Lovely. It's a decent-sized apartment which easily accommodated two young kids and three adults. Our hosts were really helpful, even picking us up from the local metro without us asking! They have had the apartment for 20 years so know all the good local restaurants/cafes to visit. My only complaint is the lack of kitchen implements. No colander, no sharp knives or scissors made eating at home a test of our ingenuity. Our nail scissors have never been so utilised! Despite the cheapness of eating out, I think it's unusual to want to eat every meal out of the house. But other than that, it was perfect, and we all had a wonderful, relaxing holiday.
Manuela and her husband were waiting for us when we arrived and were helpful with the information they gave us. The apartment is in a great location facing the sea and it was lovely watching the sun set in the evenings. Vila Cha is a small fishing village with a few restaurants and cafes, quite quiet in the evenings but with lots of character.
It was a shame the second shower was not functioning very well as that would have been useful for our 2 daughters, and unfortunately because the oven door was broken we were advised not to use the oven. However, this did not detract from us having a lovely week in the area. We visited Vila do Conde, Matosinhos, Braga and Porto, all very lovely places.
In the comodities description we mention 1.5 WC; the shower works with hot and cold water although the water pressure is weeker then in the other bathroom . The oven is not mentioned, althouigh it is there; unfortunately it had the door brokened and we did not had time to change it.
This is a good, clean, holliday apartment, in a fishermen village, with a special location, with reasonable price (320€ per week for 6 = 7.6 € /day/person . That is how it is described. It is not a penthouse in a deluxe resort
We had a lovely time at Manula's townhouse. We were met by Manuela and her husband when we arrived and they made us welcome and made sure we knew all the working of the house. They advised us on possible places to see both in Porto and surrounds. The house was on the beach with a beautiful view of the beach which was just across the road. Parking was easy and local shops were just a minutes walk from the house. It was very quiet and we would happily stay there again.
