Live Inside an Artist’s World — An Off-Grid Creative Sanctuary in Lefkada
This is not a conventional place to stay. It is a living artwork set in nature, unfolding in the ruins of an abandoned village called Roupakias on Lefkada. We live and create here together, in a fully off-grid artist’s space surrounded by silence and landscape. Art, architecture, and nature shape daily life here. When you stay, you don’t just observe art — you live inside it.

The space
The Space | Off-Grid Living in Nature
Your accommodation is part of a fully off-grid property, surrounded by olive trees, silence, and open skies. We are located 3 km from the nearest village and 9 km from the sea, offering deep immersion in nature while still allowing access to Lefkada’s beaches and local culture.
We are slowly restoring the stone ruins of Roupakias with care and respect, preserving the spirit of the place rather than replacing it. Electricity comes from solar energy, water from natural sources, and daily life follows the rhythm of daylight, weather, and season.
This is a remote, quiet, and peaceful stay, ideal for guests who value simplicity, sustainability, and authenticity.

Art, Studio & Creative Experience
Art is at the heart of this place.
The space is filled with original artworks created on the property, each piece shaped by the materials, stories, and energy of the land. Art here is not decoration — it is how the space speaks.
Guests are welcome to:
Visit our working art studio
Sign up for a private lesson
Learn about the creative process and ideas behind the work
Experience what it means to live within an evolving artistic environment
Some guests choose to purchase an original artwork as a meaningful memory of their stay. These pieces are one-of-a-kind and thoughtfully priced, reflecting the time, craftsmanship, and intention behind them. There is no obligation — only an invitation for those who feel a connection.

Located in rural Lefkada, surrounded by untouched nature
9 km from the sea and some of the island’s most beautiful beaches

A car or a scooter is necessary due to the remote setting

Why Guests Choose This Stay

Stay somewhere truly unique and meaningful
Rest, reflect, and feel part of something evolving and real
Many guests arrive for a stay and leave with a lasting connection to the place.

A Gentle Note
Living off-grid means choosing awareness over excess.
It asks for respect — for nature, for art, and for the people who care for this place. In return, it offers something increasingly rare: presence, authenticity, and silence that speaks.

Guest access
Guests have a private area with their tent and a private compost toilet.
The tent area is located down the hill, and access is via a staircase. Guests should be comfortable using stairs.
The outdoor shower is located in the common area and is shared between us, our volunteers, and guests. The shower is outdoor and cold-water only, in keeping with our off-grid lifestyle.
Breakfast is served in the shared outdoor common area, under the fig tree.

Other things to note
As part of the ongoing restoration of the site, there is another small living space on the property, which is occasionally used. The place is shared in a respectful and quiet way.

We have a lovely dog Rudy and Cricket the cat. Both are well socialized, friendly, and used to being around guests.
If you are uncomfortable around animals or have strong allergies, please keep this in mind before booking.

Neighborhood highlights

The Southern tip of Lefkada has a nice balance of being touristy but not over-crowded. Vassiliki Bay is a world famous spot for windsurfing and offers access to many cool activities and evening events. Some of our favourite local greek cuisine restaurants on the island are also located nearby. The ridiculously spectacular "Porto Katsiki" beach and the Light House are both located on this southern tip of the island.

My biography title: Lizard that lived in an Oak Tree
We are visionairies, artists, builders, and long-term travelers living off-grid in rural Lefkada. Together, we are restoring part of the abandoned village of Roupakias with care, creativity, and respect for nature. One of us creates art on site, the other builds the structures that sustain this life. We love simplicity, culture, self knowing and meaningful relationships— and we also love to have fun. Mariusz is a DJ & at times we host on-site events or exhibitions to bing joy to the community.
