Interaction with Guests
I do live in the main house on the property which is at the opposite end of the pool. I respect my guests privacy and tailor my interaction to each guest. I worked for years in the hospitality industry and learned to "read" guests and their needs.
From beginning to end Rick was very responsive. On the day we arrived he met us as promised and showed us around his beautiful property. The Pool House is a humble yet well equipped home away from home. The one and only issue we had was the noisy refrigerator but we quickly resolved that by turning the temperature way down which was not an issue since we didn't have anything in there but white wine and H2O. Otherwise it was a great getaway and we want to return again.
My husband and I wanted to escape the city to celebrate his birthday. Rick's pool house was the perfect getaway!! The description of the house was accurate, the communication prior and during the trip was great, and our stay was very relaxing. We enjoyed the hot tub, reading in the midst of the redwoods and a bonfire at night.
Thank you Rick for being a great host!
The Monte Rio Pool House was a perfect respite for our weekend getaway for my husband's birthday. Tucked away in the redwoods, it had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend in the redwoods. Rick was kind and welcoming but left us to enjoy time alone. We will definitely be back!
Rick's place was a perfect retreat. The pictures don't do it justice. It's really charming and and rustic (in a good way). It's got everything you'd need or want (fire pit, hot tub, pool, full kitchen, dvd player (with a DVD collection that would make most cinephiles jealous). Rick really went out of his way to ensure everything was taken care of for a smooth and enjoyable stay. It's also very quiet and private and peaceful and relaxing with redwoods all around and the river and town of Monte Rio within walking distance. The surrounding area is beautiful, and we had some great daytime adventures (beach, river, redwood forest, restaurants, and the Korbel tasting room) but we were more than eager to get back to the Pool House!
The Monte Rio Pool House is such a charming and beautiful place. It has everything you will need for a great weekend (or longer) vacation. The amenities are wonderful and the house is so accommodating. Rick is a gentleman, he was very responsive and kind. He welcomed me and explained the basics of the house. The rest was a beautiful vacation. Monte Rio is located right next to the redwood forest and the coast. You can do both in the same day which was very convenient for me. I recommend this rental for couples, small families and single people who wants solitude and peace.
Rick's place was great! My fiancé and I were looking for a weekend escape from SF, and we certainly found it. His property is up high on a tree-covered hill - beautiful. The pool house itself was private and had everything we needed, he even provided toiletries. He was the perfect host, too - gave us a quick tour, and let us do our thing. Thanks, Rick, for a fantastic stay outside of the city!
Rick's poolhouse was a great find for my boyfriend's birthday. It was a little rainy, so we weren't able to use the fire pit, but the private hot tub was perfect for the cool weather. You can practically touch redwoods while you're soaking! The poolhouse itself was quaint, with all the amenities you'd need - coffee & coffee maker, comfy bed, plenty of fluffy towels, small but well-equipped kitchen, and travel size personal items in case you forgot anything. And the property is beautiful, hidden away up in the hills. Rick was very friendly and accommodating, even when our arrival was delayed, while still giving us all the privacy we wanted. We tried both cafés he recommended, and both were delicious. And the location is central to so many amazing things in that area - we could have easily done some wine tasting but opted instead for hiking, kayaking, and sightseeing. We saw so much wildlife; it was an incredible weekend. Thanks Rick!
