The Eagle’s Nest was named for the mating pair of American Bald Eagles that nest in the trees above the cabin. You can hear their majestic calls above the sound of the surf. The upstairs level is open plan with a full kitchen & bath with hot water & flush toilet. One queen bed and a futon to sleep four, with room for two more in the lower level upon request, with its own kitchenette & half bath. Guests have access to a 700-foot long private beach with kayaks available for rent.

The space
The Eagles Nest can sleep up to four guests between the queen-sized bed and the queen-sized futon in the open-plan studio apartment. The downstairs apartment, the Wolf Den, can sleep two more people on a queen-sized bed as well. There is a full bathroom upstairs in the Eagles Nest and a half bathroom downstairs in the Wolf Den, as well as a full kitchen on both floors. Guests also have access to 700-feet of private beach overlooking Halibut Cove & Kachemak Bay where you can hear the eagles calling to each other overhead and see otters playing in the waves as you hunt for mussels and seastars at low tide. Keep an eye out for migrating pods of humpback whales and orcas that sometimes swim by!

Where you’ll be

Halibut Cove, Alaska, United States

Halibut Cove is a quiet artist community located on a remote island in Kachemak Bay, about a 30 minute boat-ride from Homer on the mainland. Nestled among the mountains and glaciers of the Kachemak Bay wilderness, and surrounded by the stunning blue waters of the bay, lies the surreally quaint village of Halibut Cove. The cove is a close-knit community, with art galleries, a coffee shop and one of the best restaurants in the Kenai. While there are no roads, visitors can walk the paths and 12 blocks of boardwalk that skirts the water’s edge and provides a scenic view of the mountainous east side of Kachemak Bay. There is one restaurants and a coffee shop, but no grocery store, so supplies should be purchased in Homer and brought to the Cove.
