About this listing
My apartment is perfect for couples who want to be in the middle of things, yet sleep quietly as well. Located in the Leidseplein area and nicely decorated, staying here will allow you to experience Amsterdam to the fullest: the way a local does!
The apartment is a so-called 'bel-etage': just a bit above ground level, with its own entrance. The living room is large, the bedroom has a comfortable double bed and the shower is pleasant. Add a fully equipped kitchen and you know why this self catering accommodation beats staying in a faceless hotel. All media options are here, such as digital TV, fast wireless internet and a Playstation 3.
It's full rental, so you'll have access to everything. I provide towels and linnen, but bring your own toothbrush and shampoo.
Interaction with Guests
I'll be there to meet you when you arrive to show you the place. After that, I'll be out of your way but always within reach by phone or mail.
The apartment is located in the Jordaan. This famous old neighbourhood with its picturesque canals is very dynamic and offers loads of restaurants and boutiques. The Leidseplein – to which locals jokingly refer as ‘entertainment area’ – is just around the corner and has many bars and clubs.
As you can read in the reviews, the apartment is within walking distance of all the main sights. You are 10 minutes away from the Museum Quarter with Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum and Rijksmuseum. In the other direction, it takes you less that 10 minutes to get to the Grachtenhuis, Flower Market and Begijnhof.
The Leidseplein is a major transportation hub. There is plenty of public transport with trams 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 10. The airport is 35 minutes away by bus 197. Central Station is 10 minutes by tram. There is bicycle renting nearby.
Other Things to Note
Please note that the photos taken by the official Airbnb photographer are wide angle. My couch is big, but not that big!
Feel at home, and treat it as your own. No parties please, as I enjoy my good relation with the neighbours. I don't smoke, but you are welcome to.
Linda was very quick to answer any questions and was very flexible in terms of arrival and departure time. Her apartment is very well situated and comfortable.
Je suis venu avec un amis pour visiter Amsterdam, elle nous a très bien accueilli, super gentille et qui nous à tout bien expliquée. Le logement super pour deux personnes et assez typique, pas loin de tout encore merci Linda!
Linda's place was very nice, the location is great, the apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Perfect for 2 visitors, we'll probably come back next year :)
My boyfriend and I stayed in Linda's apartment for 4 nights in July. We never had the opportunity to meet Linda herself as she was away on holiday but her friend Victoria checked us in and explained everything about the apartment and local area. We loved the prose co and stroopwafflesFirst of all, the apartment could not be more central. It takes only 5 minutes to walk to the Leidseplein and about 15 minutes gets you to the Anne Frank house and the central attractions. However you are away enough from the hustle and bustle tourist scene if you'd prefer to live more like a local. Linda left us some great information about places to eat and explore - I can't remember the exact name of the Italian place on her list but it was wonderful!! Linda's place is as described - the apartment is much bigger than it appears in the pictures. We would stay again
We couldn't have asked for a better place!! Clean, bright, and in the center of it all. Linda had GREAT recommendations for places to go in the area and, knowing it was our honeymoon, even gifted us a bottle of bubbly to celebrate. Her place made our visit easy and delightful, a perfect place to rest and put your feet up. I give this place a very high recommendation.
Linda a été tres acuillante en nous donnant toutes les infos dont on avait besoins. Son appartement est agréable a vivre et tres proche du centre ville.
Linda was an awesome host. She was flexible with both check-in and check-out times. She was there to greet us and gave us lots of information about the area and things to do (restaurants, grocery stores, bike rentals, etc.). She explained everything we needed to know about the house so we didn't have any trouble while we were there. She's super friendly and was easy to communicate with prior to arrival too. The house is in a great area. It's close to everything and you can walk anywhere in the city. Even though it's close to everything, it's quiet and peaceful inside the house. Linda was so kind and helpful and left us a couple of treats, too. I would definitely recommend staying here.
About the Host, Linda
I am researcher, blogger and teacher with a PhD in social sciences. I live in parallel worlds: I take any opportunity to pack my bag and travel as much as possible. On the other side I'm a highly ambitious and enjoy my work to the fullest. In both worlds, it's my aim to learn as much as possible.
My travel experience is broad: in addition to European countries I've done things like watch dinosaur tracks on a wall in Bolivia; roam around deserted forgotten cities in Syria and visited a pirate cemetary in Madagascar. My next destination will probably be Iran.
I've been a part of the couchsurfing community for a while and enjoy sharing the good vibes of Amsterdam with fellow travellers.
