The Space

This windmill has a great location, between the countryside and the coast, making it the ideal place to spend a few days with someone special in a quiet and magical place!
It was restored, respecting the original architecture and providing all the comfort that you need to have a pleasant stay. It has the sleeping room upstairs and the living room, bathroom (with a large round tub) and kitchenette downstairs. You'll find good space outside to apreciate the view, have your meals or just read a book quietly.
The windmill is situated between the small village of São Francisco da Serra and the beach of Lagoa de Santo André. Isolated in the countryside, with a breathless view that covers the coast line, you'll be close to the main towns, as Santiago do Cacém, Santo André, Grândola and Sines.
The nearest beach - Lagoa de Santo André - it's about 7km's from the property. A few more km's distance, you can find Lagoa de Melides. You'll be only about 2 km's from São Francisco da Serra, where you can find some coffee shop and grocery.
It is a great and quiet place, that you'll love to meet and stay in, wonderful not only in summer, but also in all other seasons, due to the mild weather and the beautiful landscape that only this region can provide.
Under request, we can provide you bikes.
If you want to know more about it, don't hesitate to contact me, I would be glad to help you!

  • Fairytale experience. The mill is super cute and comfortable. The area is gorgeous and the views from the mill stunning. Only downsides were the bed (small, hard) and the absence of screen doors for the bedroom windows.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Cristinas windmill. It is located directly in the nature with a perfect view over the countryside. The communication was easy and friendly and all our needs were met. Thank you again Cristina for this great vacation!

  • The romantic windmill is just that, for the most part; isolated, quiet and relaxing. However, in my opinion, there are a number of problems with the property, that could and should be corrected. I am well acquainted with (and comfortable with) vacation living in fairly basic facilities. Windows and shutters should be able to be opened without struggle and the likelihood of injuring ones hands on the sharp corners of the latches. (My wife had that happen, on the window of the door.) The latches upstairs, are old and/or improperly installed and extremely difficult to open and shut. Downstairs, they are newer, and function okay, but with the aforementioned sharp corners. The bathroom door latch is installed with the base protruding well beyond the edge of the door; I ripped my shirt sleeve on it. Potentially much more dangerous for the uninitiated, is the extremely hot (just under the boiling point) water, that comes geyser-like from the taps. I have had similar experiences in vacation rentals on the Canary Islands, and was not taken unawares. The floor had been recently mopped, but nothing else was really clean. I realize that this is not easy in an old building, but that does not excuse mold/mildew on the egg shelf of the (quite old) refrigerator, or trash (old plastic bottles, etc.) at the edge of the patio-paving. Cleaning and airing of the storage closets in the sleeping area would be a good idea, too. The mattress on the bed is extremely hard; An extra pad should be provided for guests who are not used to such austerity. That all having been said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the windmill, and would recommend it to all who want peace, solitude, and quiet. (Except for the wind; the windmill was located here for a reason!)

Dear David, thanks for your review. I don't agree with that, but it's your opinion and I have to respect it. All the best for you! Best regards, Cristina.

  • The windy-hill-mill is really an exceptional place, we really enjoyed our stay there!!! It offers more space that one would expect, was well equipped, clean and very cozy. The bed is comfortable and sleeping under the wooden mill work is truely an experience. The mill offers a wonderful 360-degree-view over the countryside with the ocean at the horizon... I sat there for hours, only hearing the wind and enjoying the sunshine... muito obrigada!
Cristina and her parents provide a lot of useful information about, beaches, shopping, sightseeing... and though we haven't met personally, communication via email and text messages was always prompt and friendly. Highly recommended!!!

  • We had an amazing time at the windmill recently when we stayed for three nights. It's a truly unique setting and the views are stunning. It's easy enough to get to, but when you're on top of the hill it feels like you're miles from anywhere. It's beautifully tranquil and a perfect place for some peace and quiet.

I'm Cristina and I live in a beautiful flat in the middle of Alfama: Lisbon's oldest and most typical neighbourhood. I love it so much, that hosting people, is like a "three in one": I share the pleasure of living in a beautiful house in Alfama, I meet great people and I earn money to pay my bills. Currently, besides my Cozy Room, I've an entire apartment with a fabulous view in the same building and a lovely windmill in Alentejo coast (feel free to take a look in my other listings section). I love to read, to write and to listen music. I miss my dog and I love my cat. I love Lisbon and the secrets that the city reveals to me, in every walk, in every talk, in every look.
