The Space

With twin beds and sloping ceilings, furnished and decorated extremely comfortably in contemporary style, your room has uninterrupted views of Brandon Bay, the mountains and the Maharees Islands, as does the separate bathroom (bath, loo and shower) for your exclusive use. Bedlinen and towels are provided. Breakfast, either continental style or cooked is included in the price. Finn Cottage is detached and very private, situated on a small and quiet lane above the bay and the Wild Atlantic Way to Brandon Head. It is directly on the walkers' trail to Sauce Creek, The Dingle Way and Araglen. It is approximately 20 -25 mins by car from Dingle town centre over the Conor Pass and is perfectly based for walking The Dingle Way or climbing Brandon Mountain. More leisurely walks can be enjoyed on the many pristine and beautiful beaches, from where dolphins, gannets, other sea birds and the occasional seal can often be spotted. The garden has seating areas where you can enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of tea or coffee and watch the ever-changing sky and seascape. There are often cows or sheep grazing peacefully just beyond the garden. Sue's studio is usually open if you wish to look at her paintings, prints or greetings cards - all of local landscapes and animals. There is no compulsion to purchase - browsers are welcome! There are excellent pubs, many offering food, within a few minutes drive of the cottage. There is also an excellent shop and artisan bakery in Cloghane village. Finn Cottage is not equipped for wheelchair access and is a non-smoking household.

Guest Access

In the evening you are welcome to share the sitting room with the owner (and young, friendly, unsmelly, non-shedding dog Oliver) during your stay. There are no self-catering facilities, but if you have special dietary needs please let me know at time of reservation and I will advise if I can help with this.

Interaction with Guests

Sue will be available to answer questions about the area and local amenities.

The Neighborhood

The tranquillity of rural Ireland - like going back 50 years in England. Fewer cars, no hassle, nearest traffic lights at least 25 minutes away, no aircraft noise, the friendliest people, the relaxed and hilarious repartee of conversations in the pub, the sea.

Getting Around

The price we pay for living this rural idyll is that the nearest public transport is Bus Eireann in Dingle. But there is a bookable minibus service to Tralee which local residents use all the time. It's cheap as well! You need private transport if you are disabled, as was my husband.
