  • Really enjoyed our stay in Austin as Michael's house was perfect for our group. With the amount of beds and couches, our group of 9 was able to sleep easy without having multiple guys in one bed. Location is great. Walking distance to Rainey Street, which seems to be the new place instead of 6th, and very close to downtown overall. Backyard has ample space for hanging out, grilling and such.
We had a small issue with the Internet/TV service but Michael being a great host got it fixed right away and was always a phone call or text away for answers or suggestions for having a good time in Austin. Would absolutely stay again if/when we return to Austin.

  • We were happy staying at the Downtown Eclectic. It was a short walk to the convention center, had a lot of beds, and worked out well for our group. If I was doing the trip again, it would still be a fine choice. One thing I loved was the shower head coming out of the ceiling. It's like a firehose (in a good way).

  • 10 of us stayed at Downtown Eclectic on a trip to Austin for my brother's bachelor party. We all had a great time.

First off, the house's entry is with a keypad-- which is super convenient for people coming and going. The front and back patios are very cool - perfect for lounging, hanging out and having a good time with a bigger group. I hosted a welcome gathering in the back, and everyone was impressed with the space. The inside isn't a temple to modern design like a lot of Airbnb houses -- but that's actually an asset when you have 10 guys staying. We all felt comfortable, and the house has good amount of seating. And with 5 bedrooms, we weren't too cramped.

The location is great. Close to cool bars / food on Rainey and East Austin, and about a 20 min walk to the madness of 6th Street. We rented cars and had enough space for 3 in the driveway. Driving from here is great-- convenient to everything.

Michael was a great host and was very responsive the whole trip. He even delivered us a hairdryer when we couldn't find one in the house. Thanks, Michael!

Would stay at the house again, for sure.

  • Unfortunately,we chose one of the coldest weekends to come down to Austin for a visit, but fortunately the heat in Michael's house was more than up to the task of keeping us comfortable. The house had plenty of relaxing sleeping options for our whole group of 8. The house was in a great location for hitting up the bars of East Austin. We would definitely do it again over a warmer weekend to take advantage of deck and grill behind the house.

  • Awesome place with a big patio. A lot of beds. Perfect for a trip with some friends. Good location (5 min cab ride to anywhere downtown). Michael was incredibly useful to help me book restaurants and find my way around the city. Thx a lot!

  • What an amazing experience! We had a wedding party come in and for bigger groups, this is the perfect house. Michael made the stay so easy for us, and the house was perfect. We were walking distance to some of the best parts of the city, which is important when you don't want to drive. Michael was extremely knowledgeable about the city as well. I would give 6 stars, but it's not an option.

  • This house is perfect for a laid back crowd not afraid of being off the beaten path. It's about a $7 cab ride to Congress/6th St etc and there is a coffee shop (Cenote) within walking distance. The neighborhood is quite 'eclectic' and the house is simple. Having keypad entry is great for a large group. Having a car is a must. The accommodations are simple but get the job done!

  • Michael and his brother were really nice and helpful hosts. The rooms in the house are spacious, nicely decorated, & very clean. While the living room and kitchen are a bit small, we still managed to have a little pre-party at the house before going downtown since the backyard is huge. Michael even told us we could rent a jumpy castle from the shop down the street if we wanted bc the yard is so large. =) The location is fabulous bc it is only a short walk from downtown and the river. We did have a minor problem when my friend dropped a hot coal and burned a hole in the rug when taking it out to the hookah. The host was understanding and let me compensate him directly and fairly, and didn't let this incident ruin his perception of my group. I would recommend staying here to anyone looking for a comfortable stay near downtown.

  • We stayed at this house for a week. When we arrived Michael was expecting us and gave us the tour and the keys. The house was impeccably clean and stocked with fresh clean towels and even some fresh food in the fridge! He seemed very knowledgeable about the city and gave us great tips. On the 2nd day, the air conditioning broke and Michael came over in under 10 minutes and fixed it right away. Excellent service, better than a fancy hotel. We will definitely consider staying at his house again in the future.

I'm an outgoing 32 year old gentlemen. I love traveling, food, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, music, animals, sports, and gambling. I own five small businesses and employ over 150 pp. I'm more familiar with my city ( Austin Texas ) than most and consider myself a fine host. Treat others as you want to be treated. I'm very active and spend alot of time outdoors taking part in many sports and leisure activities. Besides Austin my favorite places are, (in no particular order ) Lake Tahoe, Santa Cruz California, Costa Rica, New York City, and Las Vegas. I like to read, cook, garden, and farm. We have a sustainable garden and urban farm on property that partially sustains one of my restaurants. Don't worry, no crowing roosters in the morning, just hens and ducks. Besides being a fine host I'm also a great guest. I'm a pleasure to be around, funny, keep a tidy environment for the most part, cook, and am one of the least selfish people I know. My life motto is "The most important thing you will ever do in life is what you are doing right now."
