This quaint 2 bedroom (king beds) and 1 bathroom home is located in Playa Grande in an area called Palm Beach within the providence province of Guanacaste Costa Rica. This oceanfront cottage 1000 sq ft with beach, garden and oceanfront.
This secluded beachfront 2B/1B home is located right on the beach with the perfect surf break footsteps from your living room. The house is fully furnished in Palm Beach Estates Playa Grande community with a supermarket and several restaurants in walking distance.
Within walking distance you can find a surf school, a market and three excellent restaurants. The beach is protected for the nesting of the Giant Leatherback Sea Turtles from October through April - a must see. The beach is open year around during the day, but during nesting season, you are required to be with a tour guide to be on the beach after dark. Take early morning beach walks and you may be surprised by turtles hatching and making their way to the ocean. The house is located in Palm Beach Estates - a quiet, private community.
This house would be best for people who want to be away from the crowds and enjoy the beach and surf steps away from your backyard.
If you are looking for a place more touristic with lots of choices of restaurants, night clubs, Tamarindo would be a better option. Tamarindo is 15-20 mins by driving, water taxi is availble from Playa Grande to Playa Tamarindo.

The surfing environment and selection of restaurants is phenomenal.

Great house in a beautiful, quiet area of Playa Grande. Check-in with Karlos was super easy, the living area is spacious, beds are comfortable, shower pressure is relatively good, the patio has screens so mosquitos were a non-issue, the main peak at Playa Grande is about a 15 minute walk up the beach but there are also waves right out in front, great restaurants and a convenient store nearby. All around awesome experience--would definitely book again!
Wonderful, spacious house with just few meters to the great beach Playa Grande. Perfect for surfing, relaxing and some good restaurants close! We really enjoyed our stay!
Amazing place and stay at Playa Grande- perfect for quiet and restful time- photos illustrate well what the house has to offer- 2 spacious bedroom - large deck- it was very difficult to leave. I highly recommend this place.
We started at Playa Grande but wound up moving to another one of Maggie's properties at Playa Flamingo. Playa Grande is beautiful and definitely perfect for surfers who want quick access to the beach, but we weren't into surfing and wanted a location where there were a few more people and the waves were a little more tame.
Juan Carlos, who was our host in CR was wonderful. So accommodating and very nice, helping us move to a place that suited us better. We wound up staying in their one bedroom at Playa Flamingo -- which was perfect. Clean with great light, and we could hear the crash of the ocean even up on the hill. We walked to a beautiful beach every day and had a very relaxing stay.
Overall our holiday was excellent and we were grateful that there was an alternative to the Playa Grande house for us to move to. We would definitely come back.
This was my third trip to Playa Grande. This a very spacious 2 bedroom. You can walk out of the back of the house directly onto a path to the beach. The property manager was very responsive. The internet works great.
Great location if you are into secluded beach houses!
There are restaurants all within walking distances so if you do not want to take day trips to other parts of Costa Rica, a car is not too necessary (just make a stop at the grocery store on the way)!
The only thing we really truly missed is a BBQ or fire pit or something. We missed cooking/grilling outdoors, also mosquitos are pretty intense out there, but being outside on the patio is so lovely- smoke from a fire would really help a lot.
I would come back in a minute.
Maggie and Johannes' home in Playa Grande is a truly great spot! You are literally steps to the beach with beautiful scenery and nature all around you. It is a bit far from Tamarindo and other local spots for food, etc. though so I highly suggest renting a car for your time there.
I will admit the house was a bit rougher than we expected to find it, though it was still an enjoyable place to stay -- the main problem we had were the mosquitoes so just be prepared for that.
WiFi and TV were not working for some time while we were there, but the WiFi did eventually get fixed (was out due to a storm, not the owner's fault at all). And really, who needs TV anyway when you are on vacation?
Bottom line, if you are looking to get off the grid in a beautiful, secluded area of Costa Rica this is the place for you!

Living here is loving here. We started a software company in Costa Rica and now we are the National MLS (Multiple Listing Service) provider for Costa Rica Real Estate Association. Our tour office is located in 650 meters south of Flamingo Beach Resort, next to a great restaurant Coco Loco right on the beach.
We manage several lovely homes here in Playa Flamingo, Playa Potrero, Playa Grande, and Playa Ventana, some are ours, some are our friends'. Each house/beach has its own characteristics and we hope that you will enjoy every minute of your time in Costa RIca. We live off and on in Costa Rica as my husband and rescue dog are both natives of Costa Rica, we recently moved to Sarasota, Florida.
For Costa Rica listings, I have my property manager who is Tico (Costa Rican) and very responsible to taking care of all tenants and houses. Hope you enjoy your time staying in our lovely homes. Thanks :)
