About This Listing
Camp Aloha is a five-acre tropical farm. Our home is 600 feet off Painted Church Road up a tarmac (blacktop) driveway through mango, macadamia, avocado, banana, and even bamboo groves to views from the pool and lanai that can make you slow down.
We remodeled the South end of our home. The TV room, bedroom with king bed, bathroom (shower) and adjoining hallway are all private. The lanai and kitchen area are occasional shared as is the rest of the farm. You are welcome to walk the farm and take advantage of the ripe fruits and amenities. We only host one set of visitors at a time.
We are 700 feet off the county road up a paved driveway. Parking is private and included.
Interaction with Guests
We spend some time with visitors and often do a quick farm tour. We rarely have guests when we not planning to be here.
Our neighborhood is very rural with most residences on family farms. There is a National Park and great snorkeling just about two miles away. Sandy beaches are more like five miles away.
There is not convenient public transportation. Most of the big island is really enhanced by a motor vehicle.
Other Things to Note
Camp Aloha dogs, cats, frogs, chickens and even wild pigs on some evenings.
No smoking inside.
Respecting the planet.
We spent three very relaxing nights at Camp Aloha. Joan and Casey were great hosts to us and our two year old daughter, showing us around the property and allowing her to enjoy looking at the chickens, fruit, nuts, fish, dogs, etc.
The apartment was very comfortable, and the full outdoor patio kitchen is a unique and useful amenity. The pool and the jacuzzi were much enjoyed! The song of the coqui frogs at night was very pleasant to fall asleep to.
Joan and Casey provided great recommendations on local activities, restaurants, and sights. They let us eat all the delicious fresh fruit we wanted from their farm. The location is just a short drive to Place of Refuge and Kealakekua Bay, and about thirty minutes to Kailua town. We'd love to stay here again during our next visit.
We had a great time at Camp Aloha. We wanted be away from crowds and chill. It was perfect for us. Joan and Casey were great hosts. Casual and not a lot interaction but making sure that our stay is comfortable. They let us explore their tired garden freely and pick anything. by the way, drive way up to house is quite steep and going through mango and avocado trees, it's quite something. The view, lanai, the sound of the frog (I don't mind this at all) everything was set for a relaxing vacation. Great place for those who wants quieter vacation.
Camp Aloha exceeded our expectations! Joan and Casey made us feel very welcome and at home. The open-air lanai kitchen was clean, airy, and a pleasure to work in--never mind the airplane-like view of the ocean below! The dogs and geckos kept us company and we began to feel the lanai was our home away from home. Our hosts gave us more food than we could possibly eat and keep asking us if we needed anything more. The king bed was beyond comfy and we slept like babies. I actually can't say enough about this place--it was a very sweet experience, and I hope to come back some day.
