Very close to Santa Monica beach, 3rd Street Promenade, UCLA, walking distance from public transportation that takes you to Beverly Hill's Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Blvd and Grauman's Chinese Theater, downtown LA and more. Close to Venice Beach too.
100% cotton sheets and queen size bed. We change the comforter frequently so it might not be the one you see in the picture, but it will definitely be a cute looking one.
If you want to visit Santa Monica Pier, Third Street Promenade, downtown Los Angeles, Rodeo Drive or Hollywood Blvd without driving, you should choose our apartment because it's in walking distance from the line that goes between these points. Los Angeles has the reputation of a city where you can't go around unless you rent a car, but if you stay at our place you will can avoid the hassle of driving and renting a car.
Also on request my husband or I can drive you to more remote city attractions for a fixed fee. We can take you to Malibu, Long Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, etc. Please message me for more information.
I am an avid traveler myself and I can give great advice on what to see and how to get there.
In addition we offer filtered water and coffee in the morning. We usually have French Vanilla flavored coffee, but if you prefer a different type of coffee let me know at least one day before your arrival.
The bottled water, the drinks in or on the minifridge and the toiletries in the bathroom are on the house. I mention this because a lot of guests thought we are charging for these items.
If you happen to have a headache or a tummy ache, I have a drawer full of over the counter medication that can come in handy. But let's hope it will not be the case.
In addition I can provide city maps, bus routes fliers and a small souvenir to remind you of your Los Angeles experience. I put together a page with day trips by car or by bus, shopping info and dining options and you can draw some inspiration from there. I will provide the link via email.
Keep in mind that this page is in progress so some of the trips are not finalized.
***** PETS NOTE *****
This listing is for the cat lover. I have 2 cats which are not allowed in the bedrooms, so please keep the door between the living room and the rest of the apartment closed at all times.
You will have the master bedroom which has its own bathroom and a walk in closet. You can use the dining room and the kitchen which is equipped with electric stove, coffee maker, fridge for food, dishwasher, sandwich maker, toaster, pots and pans, wine opener, glasses, anything that a kitchen should have.
In the bathroom, you have fresh towels, soap, shampoo and hair drier.
In the bedroom there's a mini fridge for your convenience, an AC unit, TV with DirectTV. There's also a thermostat for central heating for those cold LA winter nights.
There is a coin operated washer and drier on the premises that is shared with the rest of the tenants in the building (a total of 7 apartments). The cost is 1.50 for 1 washing load and 1.50 for 1 drying load.
Interaction with Guests
My apartment has 2 bedrooms with 2 separate bathrooms. My husband and I live in the other bedroom. I usually run in the morning between 8 and 9. After I'm done running, I go to work and I come back usually by 8-9pm, so I am barely around. My husband is around more often. Our goal is to offer our guests full privacy, but if you need something we're going to be one room away.
If you need something, do not hesitate to text or call me. My number will be provided as soon as you book the room. I will also provide a link to my website where I have a lot of information about the area and sightseeing ideas.
Our home is your home!
We live in a quiet residential neighborhood on the border between Santa Monica and West Los Angeles. There's a Starbucks, Smart & Final, Easter European market, liquor store, (website hidden) and a few eateries all in walking distance.
If you want to meet locals, there are a few sports bars where you can watch games and make new friends. There are many bars close by with Busby's West, Cabo Cantina and Mom's standing out because of their distinctive Southern California relaxed atmosphere.
Santa Monica Pier is 2 miles away and it's a must see for anyone who visits Los Angeles, especially first time visitors. It's 5 minutes by car, 15 minutes by bus and the stop is only 100 yards from the apartment. The bus fare is $1.50 per person 1 way with lines 1, 4 and 704.
Smoking is allowed outside the building. West Los Angeles does not forbid smoking in public spaces, unlike Santa Monica city.
Wednesday morning around 8am the garbage truck passes by our apartment and it makes noise. No one complained yet (except me), but I am throwing it out there just in case.
The apartment is only 100 yards away from the stop for lines (phone number hidden), R10 and Santa Monica Big Blue Bus.
If you stay more than 5 days my husband or I will pick you up and drop you off from LAX for free. The airport is a mere 20 minutes driving distance away (add extra 20 minutes if it's rush hour). If you stay less than 5 days, the round trip to the airport will be $50 for 2 people and their luggages. Please message me to arrange the pick up from the airport and to make sure I have enough space for all the luggage.
If you decide to rent a car there's plenty of free street parking.
We also offer 2 bikes that you can use for free.
Last, but not the least, you can borrow the two Los Angeles guides and the maps for Santa Monica area.
Other Things to Note
We traveled to many countries and we stayed in many hotels as well as with private hosts. When we decorated and equipped this apartment we thought about our experience as a visitor and e tried to provide everything that will make your stay more enjoyable and safer. In case we missed something we are open to suggestions.
*** Transient Occupancy Tax***
All visitors who stay less than 30 consecutive days in the city of Los Angeles have to pay 14% transient occupancy tax.
During off season we charge $89 and during season it is $99. During holidays we charge a little more.
Out of $89 per night, $79 goes to our pocket and $10 is the transient occupancy tax.
Out of the $99 per night, $86.85 is the rent and $12.15 is the transient occupancy tax.
These prices could change depending on the economy. Ugh!
I have a non profit organization on the side that helps stray cats and dogs in my native country and I donate a generous percentage of airbnb proceedings toward helping these poor animals. If you feel charitable this is an extra reason to book the room. The organization's name is Voice For The Needy, Inc.
Enjoy your vacation in Los Angeles and we hope to see you again!
1. It's a residential area, so try not to have wild and loud parties.
2. The door between living room and the rest of the house has to stay closed at all times. We don't want the cats to go to the bedrooms.
3. When you enter and exit the apartment make sure Toby (the black cat) doesn't escape. He is a very curious cat who wants to explore the outside, but we don't want that because we're afraid we will lose him.
4. You get your own set of keys so you have the freedom to come and go as you want.
5. And finally... have fun exploring the city and enjoy your vacation as much as possible.
Our first time trying AirBnB. Great experience! Daniela's place is clean and has a very comfortable bed. Private toilet was a plus point. Daniela was also a great host!
The room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed having a private attached bathroom and our own little refrigerator and flat (website hidden). Our hosts gave us excellent privacy and helped us with any questions promptly. We got access to the room only hours after requesting to book it. The fast response was so helpful. I would recommend this place to others.
Daniela and Marius are very nice and awesome hosts. They were really attentive, and share many tips about LA. Their apartment is very clean, well located and equipped, and it was perfect for our 3-day stay. Their 2 cats are also lovely :)
We felt very welcome in Marius and Daniela’s cozy apartment. We found it to be clean, spacious and conveniently located. Our baby daughter was all over the couple’s cats. Marius was kind enough to pick us up and drop us off at the airport. Big thumbs up!
Our lovely host, Daniela, welcomed us so warmly throughout our 2 weeks stay. Her personable sharing of topics of interests, and experiences, made our 'friendship' so easy and inevitable.
We found the accommodation very comfortable, of v.high standard and well organised. A comprehensive 'welcome' pack (bathroom and fridge), plus an abundance of linen, etc., made it a home-from-home for us. Daniela's artistic flair, and skills, were evident in the presentation of all aspects of the en-suite bedroom. Our host was attentive to all our comforts but also very respectful of our privacy. We had plenty of storage, good WiFi and TV access. Access to the kitchen/lounge was straight forward, when needed. Coffee making facilities are provided in the bedroom.
We did find some disruption to our sleep from external 'urban' noises and, also, the in-room fridge compressor was a nuisance at night.
Location of the accommodation seemed safe, attractive and easily accessible from nearby bus routes and main boulevards (Wilshire/Santa Monica/Bundy). Also, good supermarkets, restaurants, coffee bars, etc. were within a few minutes walking distance.
We'd thoroughly recommend this Airbnb and would return on our next trip to L.A.
Daniela and Marius are very warm, friendly people and were excellent hosts. Daniela was very responsive to both my e-mails and texts and always answered any questions I had. They were very accommodating to my check-in time that fluctuated some due to traffic. The neighborhood was calm and parking was not too bad (furthest we had to park was 2 blocks away). The room is just as described, very neat, clean, and with great amenities (we were provided with toiletries and extra towels). The bed was super comfy and it was great having our own private full bath. This was our first time booking through airbnb, we had a great experience, and will definitely book here again when visiting the Santa Monica area! Thank you Daniela & Marius!
Mis Daniela was a nice person . Quick response , clean place , huge bedroom and very close to everything .. We loved her place . Thank you a lot
I am 37, work in Santa Monica as a web developer and I am passionate about traveling, photography, painting and animal rights. On the side I have a non-profit organization that helps stray cats and dogs in Eastern Europe. The name of the organization is Voice For The Needy, Inc. and I donate 10% of airbnb proceedings to help poor pets in need.
So far I traveled to over 20 countries and I would like to help other people passionate about traveling like myself to achieve their goal by offering my place and my advice as an experienced traveler. To be honest, my dream career is to be a tourist, but, oh well, nobody wants to pay me to have fun and see the world.
Los Angeles is a tough city to visit because it's very spread out and without a car it's difficult to get around. However one of the hidden gems of Los Angeles is the public transportation and not many locals know or care to know about it. As an experienced traveler myself I can give advice on what to visit, hidden spots that you don't find in travel guides, and how to get to these places. I want your stay to be a memorable, positive experience and fall in love with Los Angeles just like I did 13 years ago when I moved here.
