Authentic London experience in charming Victorian house. See how real Londoners live in one of the original Victorian planned communities designed by Roland Plumbe.

The Space

If you'd like an authentic London experience we can offer you a comfortable place to stay in Noel Park, a historic conservation area made up of Victorian terraced houses that were designed by Roland Plumb, for the "upright working man and his family." So you'll get a quiet, peaceful place to stay that is surrounded by vibrant, urban Wood Green.

The room can be configured with one single bed or two single beds-perfect for friends travelling together. The room is a small double. To use real estate parlance, it's a cozy fit for two people. (in case size is a concern -- it's regular-sized room, not a box room). It has a place to hang your clothes and under-bed luggage storage. The cost for an additional person is £10 per night.

The shared bathroom and the two toilet rooms are newly renovated and modern.

You're welcome to make yourself at home and use the rest of the house including the eat-in kitchen fitted out with a washing machine, a high spec oven, a fridge and a freezer.
Of course you'll also get free WiFi connection.

The price includes a continental breakfast. We also provide linens, towels and a hair dryer.

We are:

- Close to Alexandra Palace and park, ideal if you're attending a concert or event at the Ally Pally
- An easy tube ride from Heathrow Airport, just get on the Piccadilly line at Heathrow and (email hidden) Station.
- 10 minute walk / 5 minute bus ride from Wood Green Station
- 12 minute tube ride to the Eurostar (Piccadilly line)
- 18 minute tube ride to Covent Garden and the West End theatre district
- 10 minutes walk to Wood Green High Street shopping centre, high street shops, main banks and cinemas, Nandos and a lot of kabab shops
- Many day and night buses towards Trafalgar Square, Camden Town, Shoreditch, Old Street, Dalston, North London, etc .
-Street parking is residents only, but if you tell me ahead of time, I can get a visitor parking permit for you for £5 per day. Parking is easy because it's permit only for residents.

We truly are conveniently located, but because we're a 10 minute walk from the station, the neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful so you'll get a decent night's sleep.

Wood Green reflects the true diversity of London, with a mix of working class and professionals, who are English, Turkish, Kurdish, Polish, South Asian and Afro-caribbean--a good representation of diversity that makes London a great place to live!

And we're not far from all the tourist attractions either. Wood Green is on the Piccadilly line that goes straight to Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square, South Kensington and all the museums and theatres around there.

CHECK IN IS AFTER 6PM so if you arrive earlier in London check out the left luggage storage at St Pancras, Charing Cross, Kings Cross, Euston, Liverpool Street, Paddington and Victoria train stations. (website hidden)

*We work during the day so cannot accommodate early check-ins or luggage drop offs. PLEASE DON'T ASK FOR AN EXCEPTION.*

No smokers please !

Guest Access

Kitchen, living room, dining room, bathrooms -- all of the house except our personal bedrooms.

Interaction with Guests

Moderate. We are friendly but also understand that guests need their own space. Rachella works at home at least one day a week so she will sometimes be around during the day.

The Neighborhood

Noel Park, a historic conservation area made up of Victorian terraced houses that were designed by Roland Plumb, for the "upright working man and his family." So you'll get a quiet, peaceful place to stay that is surrounded by vibrant, urban Wood Green with a busy high street for lots of shopping.

Getting around

Public transport is plentiful and convenient. We're close to Wood Green Station on the Piccadilly line (underground). There's also an overland train nearby at Alexandra Palace, and buses that stop less than a block from our house. In addition to being walking distance from the high road with plentiful shopping and even more buses.

Other Things to Note

We only rent to one set of guests at a time, so you will be the only ones in the house, except for the hosts--two adults.

We have three cats. They are clean and shy so you may not see them and you certainly won't smell them. They are not allowed in the room we rent out.

  • Great area and transport is very easy. Rachella provides very good instructions and if you do have a bit of luggage I recommend getting the 'minicab'.

Bedroom was cosy and the bed was really snug - I slept like a log.

  • Rachella was a good host, she allowed me to check in early as she was working from home, the room was clean and the house, smaller than it looks in the pictures, was cozy and full of particular items around.

I was afraid of the distance from downtown and even though the metro station is a walking distance and there is a night bus going from downtown London to just around the corner of the house (bus 243) it takes more than an hour to get there at night. The neighborhood isn't particularly attractive so we decided to just go back home to (website hidden) this time of the year and on weekend I ended up paying 200 pounds for 2 nights so next time rather take a more centric location.

    Response from Rachella:

I'm very sad to see your negative review, since you were so nice in person and I did go out of my way for you. I don't know how you paid £200 when my nightly rate is from £20 to £50, depending on the day of the week and the season you are staying in.

As other guests have mentioned, the photos show the house exactly. We are a 12 minute tube ride from zone one, but perhaps you were travelling after the tube was closed and I am very sorry that you seem to have taken a circuitous bus route around London.

On your next trip I recommend that you stay somewhere like Kensington that really is £100 a night.

  • I had a marvellous time at Rachellas house. Very friendly and helpful hosts. The house is very clean and the cats don't bother at all. Rachella had towels and little breakfast provided, which made it all in all a really comfortable stay. They even offered help while I had a bad headache one day. Highly recommended!! Thank you Rachella!

  • I just needed a bed for the night, and this worked smoothly. The house was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and Rachella was welcoming and friendly without being intrusive. Thanks.

  • We stayed in Rachella place only two nights. However, Rachella was a very good host, she was very helpful regarding everything we needed. The place is in a very convenient location since it has also a bus stop close so you can go by bus to the nearest tube station. The room was comfortable and clean. Thanks a lot!

  • It was a great stay at Rachella's house. Before arriving I was a little worried about the distance from public transport, as traveling with kid, but it turned out to be a perfect location, bus stop in a minute walking distance, Victoria and Westminster in 45 or less by underground.
A typical Victorian house experience, my daughter fell in love with it and Rachella is a lovely host!

NB do not follow (website hidden)Maps and map app, but check the street name. We were directed to a wrong house first.

  • Easy and comfortable 7 night visit. Rachella was a welcoming and kind host throughout my entire stay. I felt at home and was really pleased that Rachella had a shelf for me in her fridge already prepared with yogurt, fresh bread and jam. I would stay here again.

We are a college librarian and a writer who live in a two-story Victorian terrace house with our three cats. We like living in a traditional English house in a historic neighbourhood that's smack in the middle of a vibrant urban environment, it's nice to be able to enjoy all London has to offer, then come home to a calm, relaxing environment. We're happy to show you where to find the hidden gems of London, off the beaten tourist path, and hope that you'll see our house as your home away from home.
