Where you’ll be

Bernardston, Massachusetts, United States

Bernardston is a small rural town in north western MA on the VT border. The many hills in Bernardston are an eastward extensions of both the Green Mountains and the Appalachians. It was named after Sir Francis Bernard who was the governor of the colony of Massachusetts from 1760-1769. It was settled in 1738 and incorporated in 1762. It is the home of the Bernardston Historical Society, the Kringle Candle Co., and the Hitchcock Brewery. Within walking distance, (around 15 minutes), is a bakery, 2 independent pizza restaurants, and a Country store with a deli, as well as Dunkin Donuts. We are an easy drive to southern VT, NH, and the Berkshires. There are a variety of ski areas in the tristate area within an easy 60 to 90 minute drive. Don't rush, get a good night sleep and get to your destination before the slopes are open for business. We are close to the renowned Mohawk Trail and scenic Rt 9 in VT. We provide a great base to enjoy hiking, biking, boating, or simply a scenic drive in beautiful New England.
