This property is nestled in a unique area of Savannah often overlooked on famous Bonaventure Road, half a mile from Bonaventure Cemetery. The locals cruise up and down the road on the weekends. Much more space and quiet than the central historic district. This area was the local fishing village and you can still get shrimp for 5 dollars a pound and cook them on the grill. The suite is an attic conversion with 6 skylights looking out at sky and magical oak branches drenched with Spanish moss. There is a porch on one side and an entire triangle of picture windows on the other. Queen size bed for a single or couple and digital cable and 32 in. flatscreen. Wifi, digital cable, parking, 4 porches, a tree house (yes, an open-air treehouse that you can elect to sleep in), and more in what many say is their "favorite house in Savannah" Weekly and Monthly Rates available too. There is a downstairs room available as well, and with your permission, they may want to play in the treehouse too, but it is clear that Skylight Suite guests have priority.
UPDATE: One review commented on privacy because of all the windows in the suite. Well, taken care of....there are now window coverings you can use if you wish, but honestly no one can see in because you are up in the trees. I encourage letting the light pour in!
You can use my kayaks and bicycles, have a fire in the backyard, or maybe even grill something. I am flexible! I do live in the house, but the suite has its own door upstairs that separates the bathroom, reading nook, and bedroom from the rest of the house. Downstairs kitchen is shared. We now have a Whole Foods a mile away so most food and drink is natural and organic. Have a discounted massage or Fairy Card reading in the treehouse! To date, the home has been featured in Savannah Magazine, Glamour, and hopefully forthcoming in Country Living.

Staying the Chad's Skylight Suite was one of the highlights of a great weekend in Savannah. The house is amazing and gave my wife and I all kinds of decorating ideas for when we got home. So relaxed, cozy, and adventurous to explore. We stayed for three nights and never heard or saw another soul, but there were always places set for us at the breakfast table in the morning and coffee ready to be brewed. When do the gnomes come in and do all of that? This is only one of the fun mysteries of this beautiful place.
Diamond Oaks is in a great neighborhood with easy directions and relaxed driving conditions. The neighborhood between Diamond Oaks and downtown are as fun to explore as downtown itself.
I climbed up into the tree house once during our stay. It is well constructed and seriously high up into the sky. Just getting to the ladder to ascend the rungs was a fun exploration of the house.
The bikes are well maintained and great for riding to the Bonaventure cemetery just down a quiet street.
Thanks Chad for a great place to stay!
This is a magical place. We loved the eccentric charm, warm welcome from Robert, and the treehouse, well, you have to experience that to believe it! My son and I had a fantastic night here and we would come back again in a heartbeat. To a 12 year old, this was the BEST place we have every stayed, in his humble opinion, and we travel often. To a grown up, it was well-appointed with details and everyday luxuries including a wonderful old cast-iron soaking tub, multiple seating areas for relaxing and reading, and a cozy cast-iron bed in the loft area. Thank you Chad, for providing this wonderful place for guests!
Another overwhelmingly positive review to add! Chad's home is enchanting and offers a break from reality. Every foot (maybe even inch) of the home is like discovering a treasure. Interesting, inspiring, peaceful. Quick cab ride to downtown and conveniently close to tybee island. Enjoy and thank you chad!
This is by far one of the coolest places we've stayed through airbnb! There's not much to say that's already been said about this enchanted oasis. Every room tells a different story and you always find something new with a second glance. We couldn't recommend this place enough!
I stayed one night in the skylight apartment and it was absolute heaven. The room was private and enchanted. The neighborhood was safe and I felt secure travelling alone. The 2 balconies and split plan made it feel spacious. Instructions were left so I knew to make myself at home. After a long drive the bed was comfortable and the apartment allowed me to rest. The historic district was within a 10 minute drive so I was able to explore in the evening. I only wish I had more time to explore the coast. Tybee Island was within a few miles. I would love to return someday.
Chad's home is magical and lovely. Perfect for a couples retreat or a family vacation. There is something for everyone--and the house is filled with character and art from the top to bottom. I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Savannah and I hope to stay there again soon.
I didn't get to meet Chad but everything was ready for us and perfect. The house is gorgeous and charming, as are the cats. The treehouse really put the experience over the top. Thanks Chad and Robert, I hope to return for more than just one night next time! (One day was not enough to enjoy both the wonderful house, epic treehouse, charming neighborhood and of course gorgeous Savannah...lesson learned!)
Very magical experience. It was fun exploring the house, with little notes hidden throughout for you to find. The treehouse was so much fun to climb; great view. Recent storms made it a little too wet for comfort, but no matter because you had bikes to explore nearby (and OLD) cemeteries. Overall? Great, unique experience. Comfortable bed. Most interesting B&B stay anywhere in the US we've had.
Staying in the treehouse was amazing- a beautiful space and Chad was a great host. The interior of the house and the loft are gorgeous, detailed spaces and the patio and treehouse (the one in the massive live oak) were just unbelievable.
Thunderbolt, the small community where Chad is located appears to be filled with artists and unique shops- it felt very safe and progressive and we wish that we could have stayed longer.
This was the perfect AirBnB stay (we know, we've stayed in quite a few by now) and I can't say enough about the care that Chad has clearly taken in creating a memorable and warm experience. Even though he could not be there on the night that we stayed, there was breakfast laid out for us in the morning and detailed notes in the bedroom informing us how we could access the wifi, which shower to use, etc. A wonderful space that I am glad we were able to visit- highly recommended
