About this listing
A purely magical space with treehouse nestled in a unique corner of a historic fishing village just minutes from the hustle and bustle tourism of Savannah. If Suite is booked, please check out the Parlor Room.
This property is nestled in a unique area of Savannah often overlooked on famous Bonaventure Road, half a mile from Bonaventure Cemetery. The locals cruise up and down the road on the weekends. Much more space and quiet than the central historic district. This area was the local fishing village and you can still get shrimp for 5 dollars a pound and cook them on the grill. The suite is an attic conversion with 6 skylights looking out at sky and magical oak branches drenched with Spanish moss. (if it is booked, please check out the Parlor Room) There is a porch on one side and an entire triangle of picture windows on the other. Brand new pillow-top Queen size bed for a single or couple and digital cable and 32 in. flatscreen. Wifi, digital cable, parking, 4 porches, a tree house (yes, an open-air treehouse that you can elect to sleep in), and more in what many say is their "favorite house in Savannah" Weekly and Monthly Rates available too. With your permission, other guests may want to play in the treehouse too, but it is clear that Skylight Suite guests have priority.
Even though there are windows and skylights everywhere, there are curtains and shutters you can use if you wish, but honestly no one can see in because you are up in the trees. I encourage letting the light pour in!
You can use my kayaks and bicycles, have a fire in the backyard, or maybe even grill something. I am flexible! I do live in the house, but the suite has its own door upstairs that separates the bathroom, reading nook, and bedroom from the rest of the house. Often I am at the property next door. Downstairs kitchen is shared. We now have a Whole Foods a mile away so most food and drink is natural and organic. Have a discounted massage or Fairy Card reading in the treehouse! To date, the home has been featured in Savannah Magazine, Glamour, and hopefully forthcoming in Country Living.
Bikes, Kayaks, Golf Cart, wifi, digital cable, fridge, grill, 4 porches, a southern jungle, the intracoastal waterway...what more can I say?
Interaction with Guests
I am around here and there but let you alone for the most part. My girlfriend has an equally wonderful house next door so I am often there working on creative projects for our properties. You may also see my roommate Alexis, around. She shares the space.
My neighborhood is often overlooked by tourists so you get the benefit of a wonderfully intimate experience with the "real" South, complete with shrimp boats, shacks, and mansions.
Taxi and bicycles work well, but having a car will get you to the beach and some other special areas!
Other Things to Note
Alexis and I are both published writers. Have a look at our stuff in the shelf under the stairs!
Have the time of your life and be respectful.
I am a writer and a carpenter. I teach at a local university and publish poetry and memoir. I live on site with two cats. I really dig my record collection and creating fascinating peter-pan spaces all around the home. I have a roommate that manages the home when I am gone. I am very clean and flexible. If you want someone to show you around and introduce you to a fascinating community of artists, I can do that. If you want to be left alone and have your own peace, I can do that.
