Good location, easy to find. Breakfast is really nice.
Bathroom smells really bad, found a lot of ants in the (email hidden)e maid cleaned the room everyday (which is pretty nice), but she rearranged my stuff to put them in different drawers, closet, basket...I had a hard time finding my belongings, so after the first day we told them to not clean the room.
At first I thought it's really nice that the host offered to buy stuff for us with the local price...but later on we realized that we could bargain down the price even lower...so we felt that we almost got tricked.
They urged us to go to the Sahara 3 days trip by showing us videos, I think it costs $80 per person or even higher...then after we moved to Marrakech, we realized that it only costs around $50 per person.
In general, I feel that if you stay at the Riad run by the local people, they will trick you. In Marrakech, we stayed at the Riad run by Italian guys, they explained everything to us in a foreigner's perspective.
Beautifull riad, good breakfast at the terras. We took a trip to Atlas mountains, and had great fun with a friendly driver. There was a smell of humidity in the bathroom. Very nice place
Very beautiful, nicely decorated riad with air conditioning and cute patio. Service was quite good. Upon arrival we were treated to a welcome mint tea and a map of the daunting Fes medina with important landmarks circled and explained. When we informed them of our early checkout, they ordered us a cab for 50 dirhams and offered us an early breakfast (although it came late and we had to choke it down so as not to keep our driver waiting, appreciated nonetheless). Also nicely located at the edge of the medina, making it easy to find.
Some small cons:
- The shower in our suite did not have a sconce for the shower head so you have to hold it. Meanwhile the hot/cold water is inconsistent.
- This one is weird: they don't let you take the room key out of the riad and make you hang it up next to the front desk (which is not always manned) and then leave the riad door wide open. Did not feel super secure.
Our stay at the B&B Riad Naila was excellent. Airport was arranged to and from Naila, this is highly advised. Getting there with public transport/on your own is more than complicated and not the right place to save money. The Riad itself is perfectly located just outside the old Medina a mere 2 min walk to one of the main streets. It's really easy to find and as quiet as you can expect from a place like this. The upper floor room we had was wonderful! Big, beautifully decorated, with a big bed, sofa, desk and an in-suite large bathroom. Both the room and bathroom are quite humid, and also smell humid, so during the day we had our windows open. The breakfast was fantastic, especially taken on the wonderful roof terrace with stunning views. We also had the menu on our arrival day, also highly recommended. Fatima is a well of knowledge and a great hostess speaking both French, Spanish and English. All of her recommendations for food, shopping and activities were great. We did both a 2h guided walking tour (highly recommended!) of the old town as well as the Volubilis, a partly excavated Roman city, Moulay Idriss Zerhoun and Meknes (3 stops) excursion and the one to the Atlas mountains, seeing wild monkeys, both very nice. One tip for Europeans is that they will accept Euros absolutely everywhere for a decent exchange rate, in fact everyone preferred it, so there is no reason to get any local currency.
Riad Naila is well located and has a nice terrace which overlooks the medina. The room was fine although not as nice as in the pictures, but it was clean and had everything we needed. The staff is very friendly, particularly Mohammad, and always eager to help. The breakfast is very good, as is often the case in Morocco
Riad Naila is in fact an hotel, which is somewhat different from other experiences we had in Morocco and I think it should be mentioned in the description. Overall, a good experience
Riad Naila was THE BEST! The rooms were incredible, romantic, clean and with all comforts. The staff was fantastic. Fatima, Mohammed and Karima made us feel very welcome and in a very family atmosphere! They helped us a lot organized activities for us very quickly. Breakfast in the morning is delicious and amazing on the terrace! We also had dinner a couple of nights there and we loved it, the service was perfect and the food fantastic. The location is perfect, 5-10 minutes walk from the Blue Gate, 10 minutes walk to a great view point, 3 minutes from the shopping streets. We will definitely go back as soon as possible!
