This one-person or couple private room has access to a beautiful landscaped patio backyard. There is close access to the kitchen and bath, and the neighborhood is safe and quiet. Free wifi and street parking available, and within close distance to public transportation. The house is set in a lovely tree lined neighborhood and the house is a charming 1930's-style with hardwood floors and custom molding. I have a large collection of eclectic art that I have gathered during my travels, and which you will see through out the house. Nearby attractions include Old Town Pasadena as well as the beautiful Huntington Gardens and Descanso Gardens, the Norton Simon Museum, The Pacific Asia Museum and the California Museum of Art. Pasadena is also known for its wide variety of excellent restaurants. Host is flexible and accomodating, and is happy to provide directions and information about the area. This space is also available for film shoots, at the rate of $50/hour.
This is a quiet house in a quiet neighborhood, so no wild parties, illegal drugs, loud music. Guests have full use of the house, but please treat everything with respect.
I was in Pasadena for 2 days on business and I was able to get a good night's sleep at Carolyn's lovely home. She went out of her way to have prepared meals available. The sounds of harps playing in the background was amazingly soothing. I would recommend this place to any visitor as a great bargain, and in a great neighborhood.
Everything everyone has already said is true. Carolyn is so friendly, you feel like you've come back home the minute you meet her. She looked after my every need, even making sure I had gluten free bread. The house is homey and comfy, there's no ceremony, everything is very easy going. I felt like I'd moved into my best friends house for a few days. The neighborhood is full of nice homes and is quiet and safe. Carolyn is there with a friendly chat if you want, or she'll leave you alone if you don't. Highly recommended.
Carolyn is one of the nicest and most fun hosts you could ask for. She makes you feel so welcomed and at home during your stay. I stayed with her for about 3 months, and it definitely made my experience in California even more amazing. And the house is always very clean!
Carolyn was delightful! She is welcoming and accommodating. Her place is super homey and in a really great neighborhood. I really enjoyed my 2 day stay and wish I was able to stay longer and spend more time there.
Okay, I have no idea how to keep this short, but staying with Carolyn was like staying with family. I drove out from Florida with my two doggies (for three months!) and had a very hard time trying to find someone that would accept my dogs as well. But because of my situation, she decided to give it a shot! (By the time I left Carolyn had adopted them and my fiance and I adopted Carolyn!)
I immediately felt cozy and right at home. Carolyn is SO accommodating and so thoughtful - I almost always had fresh flowers appear in my room and there were always cappuccinos to be had! (At one point I had mentioned how pretty one of the bed linens was that was currently on my bed, and from that point on Carolyn always made sure that those ones were put on my bed :3)
The house was just as pictured - cozy, with lots of little spaces to explore. The patio is gorgeous and a perfect place to read under the wisteria! Carolyn's house has a handful of beautiful flowering bushes out front and a very large yard on the corner, but if you take some walks around this adorable neighborhood, you'll find all sorts of beautiful houses and flowers to see! (Seriously, stop to smell the roses, Jasmine, whatever you can!)
There's a lot of activity in this house since Carolyn is a harp teacher, but I have never met such a wonderful group of people. Every student, or at least their parents, stopped in to say hello to me each time (I would catch myself asking, "Is so-and-so coming by today?") It's also quite a unique experience to be so surrounded by music day in and day out. If you get a chance to hear Carolyn play, it's just amazing how talented one person can be. You can tell what a difference she makes for her students as well, they are always so excited to be there.
Location couldn't be better, either. Close to absolutely everything. I had my car with me, and nothing was further than a 10 minute drive! I also felt very safe almost everywhere that I went in Pasadena (26 year old female saying this).
To try to close this out, I just couldn't have gotten luckier with my choice. Carolyn is just such a wonderful person to be around and you'll be very taken care of. If you get a chance to hear some of her stories, you'll be laughing for hours. I was so sad when I left my home and family in Florida, but the morning I left Pasadena, I felt like I was leaving my family again :(
I miss Ashlee, her fiance Chris and her lovely dogs. It has been very quiet since they left, and the students and my friends are all asking after them and when they are coming back! Even the neighbours are asking. We all miss them! It was very special for us all, to have them in our lives for a while :0).
Carolyn is a wonderful host. When we arrived (an hour late due to baggage and rental car delays), she had dinner waiting with our choice of wine. Most of all, throughout our four day visit, we felt welcomed and "at home". I would gladly stay here again.
Although the room is a little small, the host is very considerate. Overall good.
I am glad that Claire appreciated the things that I did for her during her one night stay. She is a lovely daughter, you must be very proud! I am sorry that she found the room to be small, but I believe it is accurately represented by the square footage mentioned in the listing. It is a very average bedroom size, not palatial, but also not a hole in the wall either ;).

Easy going and relaxed person. I love art and the arts, and of course music. I also love to meet new people and make new friends. My days are spent teaching the harp to private students who come to my studio, which is part of my house. I also practice the harp, play the harp for concerts and functions. all of which is very entertaining to my cats, who also love meeting new people! We pracitce yoga and Buddhist meditaion together also. The cats are better at this than I am! I love to travel, and have spent most of my life travelling while playing music. I am originally from Australia, but have been living in Los Angeles for 17 years.
