I'm a painter/stylist with a huge Loft Apartment in the heart of Greenpoint Brooklyn.
There are 2 bedrooms. The first bedroom is on the lower floor with a Queen Size Mattress and Nightstand. It overlooks the fauna area in the house and has 3 bifold doors with lots of sunshine or close the sliding doors for quiet privacy. It is minimal but very cozy and comfortable. The second bedroom is a lofted bedroom that overlooks the rest of the house and is suitable for only a single person since it has a twin bed. It also has three separate doors for either privacy or to allow lots of sunshine to flood the rest of the house. It's perfect for a guest or just a nice sitting room to read.
There is large living room with one large Hans Wegner couch and one danish wrap couch. There is a large and functional kitchen with anything you would need should you choose to cook. I lean more towards organic and vegetarian tendencies, so I do not have a microwave. There is a full size bathroom with a shower and a back area of the house that I have a small couch in and lots of plants. If you enjoy plants, then you will love this apartment.
I have a lofted painting studio that you are welcome to use should you feel inspired and it is also a nice place to sit and have coffee or tea and sit in the sunlight.
All guests are welcome to use whatever kitchen, house amenities I have within general reason and courtesy.
I live between the loft in Brooklyn, and a home in Austin, TX. I will sometimes be able to meet with guests between visits, but mostly I will have a caretaker /friend in the building meet with guests to exchange the key and water my plants :)
The area is very safe and is mostly a happy mix of Polish families and young hipsters. There is a laundry mat a few blocks away and a post office just 1 block away.
There are tons of shops and hip and trendy restaurants and bars within blocks as well. I also go to an amazing yoga studio everyday that is just 2 blocks away and they are very welcoming to visitors.
Williamsburg is about a 5 minute walk to Bedford Ave and all of the other interesting things that Williamsburg has to offer.
A local G train is about 6 blocks away and can connect you to most of the major subways. The illustrious L train is about a 10 Minute walk into Williamsburg.
Please note that this is a genuine artists living/loft space that is quite large and has an open lay-out that makes it quite difficult to heat fully in the winter months. I have a a series of space heaters, thermal curtains, extra bedding and room enclosures to warm the space to a comfortable temperature, but a person that is accustomed to central heating might very well be suited for another apt. :)
Had a Fab time at Rachel's place. Really good location. Rachel was great to deal with. Would stay again.
I couldn't really imagine a more perfect introduction to Brooklyn. Rachel's loft is in a great location; easily within walking distance of everything this amazing area has to offer. The loft itself is gorgeous - despite not having central heating the space heaters do a wonderful job, so winter visitors, don't stress! Rachel herself is super easy to contact, always friendly and helpful. Her local recommendations are awesome as well. A fantastic trip - I'd go back in a heartbeat!
Rachel's loft is the perfect place to stay. Beautiful, stylish, spacious, clean, super comfortable, with everything you need. And in a great location. A sweet spot that truly feels like a home away from home. And Rachel is the perfect host: very caring and attentive, always available and quick in replying to all messages.
We had a great time and a great overall experience.
Rachel was a fantastic host! Extremely responsive and hospitable. The space itself was also incredible - inspirational and verdant. It is even cozier in person than it appears. We would definitely stay there again! I highly recommend a stay in Rachel's loft.
We had a wonderful week at Rachel's loft. The space is beautiful, bright and cozy. It's also comfortable and well equipped. Worked out really well for me and my parents.
Rachel is a great host, polite and friendly. It was very easy communicate with her.
I'd definitely recommend this loft to anyone would like to try a real Brooklyn experience!
Thank you again Rachel!
We had a great time in Rachels appartment.
It is a charming loft, much place and a very good atmosphere.
We're thankful, that Rachel shares this inspiring place with others.
Although she wasn't in New York at that time, Rachel cared about us and our communication was excellent.
Greenpoint is calm and hip at the same time. The L-Train is a fast and perfect connection to Manhattan.
Rachels Bar und Restaurant-tipps were very helpful.
We recomment Rachels appartment as a place, where you can feel at home immediatly.
The apartment is warm and charming. An oasis, full of plants, art, views of the city. The location could not be better for exploring Greenpoint and Williamsburg.
I booked this loft for my parents during their stay. The loft is serene and beautiful, situated in a great neighborhood with all sorts of interesting bars and restaurants. Rachel was very helpful and communicative and everything went perfectly smooth with the reservation. I would definitely recommend this to creative types looking for an inspiring space and neighborhood for their stay. Thank you, Rachel!
Rachel's place was so awesome! We used the artistic space for a company brainstorming session that lasted two days and it provided the best atmosphere possible!
We didn’t meet Rachel but she was always friendly and responded quickly via email to any questions. The loft is a welcoming, artistic space and in summer, the air-con and fans worked well to cool the space. We could only watch dvds as no cable tv. Beds are ok, bathroom is small and basic but ok, and the kitchen is well-equipped. Most of the time it is quiet and the neighbours nice and friendly. Location-wise it’s perfect. The studio is in a warehouse building in an industrial street, surrounded by residential and only minutes to Manhatten Avenue. We loved Greenpoint for its vibe, its access to the L train and the fact it has a great bar/café/restaurant scene but is still laid-back and unpretentious. Basically, if you’re looking to stay in Brooklyn and value a place with character over sparkling modern fittings/conveniences, you’ll be very happy.
I value the feedback from Lisa, as she and Cushla were lovely guests.
Essentially, this is a creative loft space with divided rooms and an open design. As a working artist, i do not wish to live in a space that offers modern fittings/conveniences like a dishwasher or cable tv, but prefer to offer a sanctuary for creative people who enjoy cooking, art and design.
I feel it's important for me to respond to Lisa in order for future guests to understand that a person wishing for hotel-like qualities will perhaps not be interested in my space. I make a strong effort to offer an unpretentious and welcoming, artistic home away from home, for people who share an interest in the creative lifestyle of nyc or who just enjoy living a different life than there own for a few days or a week while on vacation :)
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
