This spacious 2 bedroom 2 bath cliff tropical home is one of a kind. Built in traditional construction style, with over 10,000 palm leaves making the roof of this magnificient tropical home. The roof is supported by a giant tree in the center which also serves as a circular staircase into a bedroom on the second floor. The house and its screened windows are designed to take advantage of the constant cliff side breeze giving no need for a lot of airconditioning. Except for the bathrooms and the tile floor on the ground floor the house is all in wood. The house enjoys an amzing pool with waterfall and jets for relaxation as well as two balconies to the front and the back with a seating and dining area both inside and outside. The less populated south ridge is also a lot more quite as barely any cars roll by. Casa Jungle is one of 4 units in a small vacation resort. Each bedroom has its own bathrooms, a living/ dining room withkitchen and a private and spacious balconies in. Sliding doors make the balcony accessible from all rooms. Amazing ocean and beach views are to be enjoyed from each room and the balcony. This unit has all the modern amenities one expects from a modern but tropical apartment.
Air Conditioned(Only the first floor bedroom has one unit)
Washer, Dryer, and Laundry Service
fully equipped kitchen
sheets and towels on site.
Garden and Maid service included (Short Term Rental Only, further discussion for long term rental)
The beach is only minutes in walking distance with a wide variety of dining and entertainment and shopping possibilities across the beach on the north ridge of Flamingo. Another advantage of this unit is it is close to everything but just far away to feel secluded enough to truly enjoy the daily monkey visits and experience the variety of wildlife directlly in front of you!
Casa Jungle was fantastic. Totally unique place with amazing views, great dipping pool and nice location. We loved it for its character. It is a bit rustic, AC in only one room, but we turned it off and opened up all the windows. Lots of breezes up on the hill and the house cools nicely at night. It is the opposite of a sterile condo and that is why we loved it. Wind blowing through the house, birds and monkeys in the trees. Of course this means it can get hot during the day, and exposed to the noises outside and some dust. Unfortunately, there is a unit below it and their AC unit outside the back wall, running all the time that it is occupied. Since Casa Jungle is open plan and has simple wood walls it can be noisy at night (AC), and early morning because of birds and monkeys. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Groundskeeper and hosts were very friendly. Felt very safe and welcome there. Actually, felt safe and truly welcome throughout Costa Rica.
I would recommend the hosts provide a few more amenities like a safe (they are working on it), more dish ware and cutlery and some cooking basics like salt, spices, oils, etc and some beach gear, cooler, and chairs.
It is a steep but doable 5 min walk to the beach; one of the best swimming beaches in the area. Lots it explore in the area. Best to rent a car (4x4) it get around though taxis and tours are plentiful.
If you are looking for a unique place, with character and amazing views, you will love Casa Jungle.
We had a very good experience at Casa Jungle. We were a little concerned about finding the location but we had a driver from the airport in Liberia that knew where Coco Loco was. Coco Loco is a restaurant at Playa Flamingo and also where the property manager works (Angela). Before arriving it would have been nice to get more specific instructions and directions. Some important details that were not so clear- the restaurant/office/cocoloco is on the beach, however the house is far far up a very steep road. After you arrive and want to go to the beach it is good a hike down. It took about 15-20 minutes to get down and maybe twice that to get back up. It would also have been nice to have a house book telling us information and recommendations. It took us a while to find extra towels (they are under the tv). There is wifi though.
Angela really pressed us to rent a car but from friends experiences in Costa Rica we chose not to. The roads are not great and there are no road signs. It was easy to find cabs online, and our favorite driver by far was Maikol (pronounced Michael in English) his number is (phone number hidden). He was super friendly, speaks English very well and took us everywhere we needed to go for a reasonable price. He also helped me with my Spanish and recommended places to eat. Angela recommended another guy who was nice enough but did not speak English and was more expensive. He also was not a registered taxi driver with a meter (Maria in Costa Rica) which made me nervous. We were able to do just fine without a rental car.
Although there are several companies in the area for adventure tours, the one I would highly recommend is the sailing/snorkeling tour from Lazy Lizard in Playa Flamingo. One of the most fun experiences in my life. It was $85 a person but so worth it. It was open bar, amazing sailing, good food and great snorkeling.
All in all it was a great start to our vacation in Costa Rica. The view was spectacular to wake up to every morning and you could hear the waves crashing morning and night. I would recommend.
We would love to improve our experience how would you rate where the office was since you have the personal experience as an outsider?
I completely agree lazy lizard is the best totally worth every penny and it's always different :)
Thanks so much for your feedback and we hope to have you back again.
The house was amazing! The construction and design of the house was very beautiful. Plenty of room. And the views... So breathtaking. I would definitely stay here again!
This place was such a unique beach experience. It felt like a hilltop tree house with views of the beach and cliffs. The open air living space was so cool and the perfect place to relax. With the beach only a 10 minute walk down the hill and a few restaurants nearby, this location was ideal. There were beautiful homes nearby and the beach was quiet and peaceful.
We had an amazing stay, such a beautiful apartment with stunning views. Angela was super helpful and friendly, I highly recommend this place and will be recommending to all my friends.
The house itself is great! gorgeous views. bedrooms upstairs and on first level. full bathroom attached to each. walking distance to the beach (although some rugged roads and a downhill walk) and coco loco (best restaurant in playa flamingo). The screened in lounge area was the best feature in the house. had a cute bistro table and chairs facing the coast for morning coffee and breakfast.
Shared pool area was nice as we were the only ones using it.
The only problems with this rental were that it was a little off the beaten path and difficult to check in. We were very glad that it was still light out as were were trying to figure out where to check in bc in the dark we would have been completely lost and scared. We were given very vague directions and weren't sure where to go. When we found the office, the property owner, Juan Carlos, did not know we were coming. Luckily we connected and he still checked us into the house and the rental went just fine from that point on. Never met Juan Carlos or Maggie in person. The property is managed by a very nice couple however they only speak spanish.
SOME ADVICE: go to the office attached to Coco Loco to check in.

Living here is loving here. We started a software company in Costa Rica and now we are the National MLS (Multiple Listing Service) provider for Costa Rica Real Estate Association. Our tour office is located in 650 meters south of Flamingo Beach Resort, next to a great restaurant Coco Loco right on the beach.
We manage several lovely homes here in Playa Flamingo, Playa Potrero, Playa Grande, and Playa Ventana, some are ours, some are our friends'. Each house/beach has its own characteristics and we hope that you will enjoy every minute of your time in Costa RIca. We live off and on in Costa Rica as my husband and rescue dog are both natives of Costa Rica, we recently moved to Sarasota, Florida.
For Costa Rica listings, I have my property manager who is Tico (Costa Rican) and very responsible to taking care of all tenants and houses. Hope you enjoy your time staying in our lovely homes. Thanks :)
