The B&B was booked, so Annette offered us a room in their new hotel Connemara Lake next door to the B&B. The hotel was open for one week and not every room was finished. First we had a room with no view and almost no furnitury (room 3), than a big room with view, but still almost no furniture (room 1). Because we were staying for 4 nights, we complained about it, Annette gave us room 11, wich was a beautiful big 3-persons room with a view, brand new shower and great beds. Also the breakfast is perfect. After two weeks of full Irish breakfasts, it was very nice that we could choose other things. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel very much and also the restaurants and pubs next door. If all rooms are finished like room 11, this will be a very nice hotel. Annette, good luck with your hotel!
First thing - this review is for the Connemara Lake Hotel, not the Ante Rooms B&B as without warning we were put in the hotel around the corner from the B&B.
Positives: the hotel was in the centre of the village but not noisy. The breakfast was really really good (full Irish and/buffet of cereals, bread, fruit, cold meats, cheeses and juices). The place was family run and everyone was really friendly and helpful. The room was huge (with a double bed and 2 singles), bright even when it was grey outside and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable.
Not-so-positives: we booked to stay in a B&B with character and ended up in a hotel room pretty much like any other. The room faced onto the backyards of various business, and overlooked a bit of a building site. The neighbours had a clear view of the bedroom from their kitchen. Despite having a bit bathroom there was no bath, only a shower.
No wi-fi in the bedrooms.
As the B&B was full, we were re-located in the hotel next door. Host was very friendly, also received a quick reply on my inquiry. As the hotel was still being renovated, the shower wasn't working and there was no curtain in the bathroom. They solved this by offering us another room we could use for showering. The traditional Irish breakfast was good!
