Award-winning landmark conversion, retaining many of the original elements of the old carriage house and stable: open, chapel-like, entirely private, 2400 sq ft home. Modern, but very cosy. Extremely rare space, definitely one-of-a-kind.
Award-winning landmark conversion of an old stable, retaining many of the original carriage-house elements: peculiar row of high windows for horses' heads, open-beamed ceiling, stable doors to the street, original exterior bricks repurposed to the interior, a 13' central table milled from one of the stable's original beams. An open, chapel-like, entirely private, 2400 sq ft home. Modern, but very cosy. Extremely rare space within New York City, definitely one-of-a-kind.

Bell End is a special home, but we must stress, it's a home, not a party space. Staying here affords a unique opportunity to enjoy everything New York has to offer and have a beautiful, luxurious, well-kept sanctuary to come back to. You won't be dealing with wardrobes full of shoes and family knick-knacks (which are in our house upstate). The house will feel like your home when you are in it. As a consequence, we ask that people let us know their plans in a sentence or two. Just the basic reassurance needed when you're letting somebody into your home. The word 'party' has occasionally been misinterpreted.
The rate for a week includes 1 free night. So 7 nights for the price of 6.

Combined, bedrooms sleep a maximum of 6 people, which is our capacity - other than the baby bed which can be put out on request (bedding for the cot is not provided). So 6 plus a baby. The house is best enjoyed with space, so we don't offer the couch for surfing.
All bedrooms come with Muji sheets and Turkish towels. No need to bring anything of that sort. Bathrooms all have great showers and Dr Bronners soap.
There is a third full bathroom downstairs (with its own shower) on the main floor. So three bedrooms, three bathrooms.
1200 sq foot ground floor living area, with double stable doors that open onto onto the street, for indoor/outdoor feel. Twin huge leather couches, piano and 13 foot farmhouse table. The table between the couches is made from salvaged bowling alley lanes, as are the desks in the bedrooms. The shelves are recycled wooden crates, the bell came from a church. Secure keyless entry with your own unique code.
Gourmet kitchen, well-stocked with equipment for cooking, including stand-mixer, blender, kettle, good stove and oven, dishwasher, toaster, saucepans, kitchen knives, all expected utensils. More than enough glasses, bowls, plates, knives, forks, etc., and a cheerful supply of Table on Ten teatowels and PG Tips tea.
Radiant under-floor heating in winter with Nest thermostats on both floors. Great a/c in the summer. Poured concrete floors downstairs, Siberian Oak upstairs. Washer/dryer in the basement, with supplies of laundry detergent.
Dedicated high-speed wi-fi, powerful Parrot by Starck bluetooth music. Flat-screen Apple TV in the master bedroom, which facilitates HD movies and television through your iTunes, Netflix or other accounts.
Great for families, friends, family reunions, dinners. Also for 'off-site' think-tank meetings, where participants want to work all hours and sleep in the house without having to resort to hotels and conference rooms. However, we no longer allow parties unless they are our own, and no commercial or portfolio photography without prior permission.
Easy on-street parking. A and C trains one block away, G two blocks away, short walk to 2/3/4/5/N/R/Q/D/B and LIRR ... minutes into Manhattan or over to Williamsburg.
Very secure and extremely quiet at night.
Amazing area for restaurants: 3 of Gothamist's top 18 pizza restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Also Roman's, Franny's, Bar Corvo, Chuko, Aita, James, Emily, Finch, Marco's, Saraghina, Walter Foods, Brooklyn Farm, Locanda Vini & Olii, Ici, Smoke Joint, etc.. Great bars, food shopping at Provisions and Market on Greene, as well as Fort Greene and Grand Army Farmers Markets. Wine from Greene Grape, Olivino.
Very short walk to Brooklyn Academy of Music, BAM Harvey, Mark Morris Dance, BAM Rose Cinemas, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Fort Greene Park, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Library and (near legendary) Brooklyn Flea.
10 minute stroll to the The Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets.
We seldom do single or 2 night stays, unless they happen to fit between two other bookings. If you see a 2 night gap, please enquire.
And it has it's own website ... which maybe fills the story out a bit better - search on line for Bell End Brooklyn.
Just to be decent, kind, generous, funny and respectful, and hopefully become part of the shifting community that comes and stays at Bell End.
This place is an ideal find. The heated floors were a delight, the sense of style is fabulous, and the couches were perfect for hours of catching up with friends. The location gave us numerous great restaurants to walk to and easy walking to the BAM.
Once again, a wonderful experience in one of my favorite lodgings in all of New York City!
This was my second stay here, and once again, the property was wonderful, Julian was unbelievably gracious and accommodating, and our contact Ron was fantastic and responsive.
We cooked, we danced, we had a wonderful time.
I cannot say enough kind words about the space, the vibe, and the hosts.
It doesn't get better than this.
Stay here NOW!
Thanks again Julian!
My recent stay in Bell End was incredible. It is a simply gorgeous and very unique space. It was perfect for my family's recent trip. The heated floors make me never want to leave. The special care to detail including the stocked pantry, toddler bed, guide were perfect. Can't wait to come back.
This place is perfect. I want to live here. We had a magical weekend and will absolutely return.
The house was perfect for a family celebration, we really enjoyed our time. The house is cozy, warm, well equipped and in a great neighborhood. Thanks to Julian and Rob for the hospitality, hope to stay again.
Julian's place is incredible and honestly better than the photos. A couple things we we're absolutely delighted to find were; a lovely tub in the master bath, as well as heated floors.
Our hosts we're very accommodating and relaxed about our check in and the area is on a quiet block but only a few blocks from the subway and lots of other things- restaurants etc. We rented this place for older, out of town relatives in lieu of our wedding and they couldn't believe they were in Brooklyn. (I think it really changed their perception on the city which was a major goal of mine.) The whole experience was seamless. I hope to connect again in the future. Simply perfect.
Excellent organisation of welcome on our arrival from the UK.Ron made us very welcome and explained stuff. The clip board with notes were also very useful.
Our family experience staying here was first class.Everything we needed was available and the whole house is furnished to a very high standard. The location is first class with a superb restaurant [AITA]at the end of the block and a full range of shops[and Wine !!]available on Fulton Street.Definately will rebook when we are all next in Brooklyn.
Sometime photo agent, occasional writer, cook, restauranteur, 2 daughters, part time upstate, part-time Venice and the rest of the time I live at the stable - Bell End.
