Description

Award-winning landmark conversion, retaining many of the original elements of the old carriage house and stable: open, chapel-like, entirely private, 2400 sq ft home. Modern, but very cosy. Extremely rare space, definitely one-of-a-kind.

Award-winning landmark conversion of an old stable, retaining many of the original carriage-house elements: peculiar row of high windows for horses' heads, open-beamed ceiling, stable doors to the street, original exterior bricks repurposed to the interior, a 13' central table milled from one of the stable's original beams. An open, chapel-like, entirely private, 2400 sq ft home. Modern, but very cosy. Extremely rare space within New York City, definitely one-of-a-kind.

Bell End is a special home, but we must stress, it's a home, not a party space. Staying here affords a unique opportunity to enjoy everything New York has to offer and have a beautiful, luxurious, well-kept sanctuary to come back to. You won't be dealing with wardrobes full of shoes and family knick-knacks (which are in our house upstate). The house will be your home when you are in it. As a consequence, we ask that people let us know their plans in a sentence or two. We like our neighbours and the word 'party' has occasionally been misinterpreted.

Most questions are answered in the description below; please take a moment to read through.

3 large private bedrooms. All have large windows and great light.

Bedroom 1 - master suite, queen bed, large private bathroom with shower and separate tub, flat-screen Apple TV, wireless internet, overdyed rugs, walk-in closets.

Bedroom 2 - large double bedroom, shares full bathroom (shower/tub) with bedroom 3. Tivoli Audio global radio and bluetooth iPod station, wireless internet, overdyed rugs, walk in closet.

Bedroom 3 - large double bedroom, shares full bathroom with bedroom 2. Tivoli Audio internet radio and bluetooth iPod station, wireless internet, overdyed rugs, walk in closet.

Combined, bedrooms sleep a maximum of 6 people, which is our capacity - other than the baby bed which can be put out on request (bedding for the cot is not provided). So 6 plus a baby. The house is best enjoyed with space, so we don't offer the couch for surfing.

All bedrooms come with Muji sheets and Turkish towels. No need to bring anything of that sort. Bathrooms all have great showers and Dr Bronners soap.

There is a third full bathroom downstairs (with its own shower) on the main floor. So three bedrooms, three bathrooms.

1200 sq foot ground floor living area, with double stable doors that open onto onto the street, for indoor/outdoor feel. Twin huge leather couches, piano and 13 foot farmhouse table. The table between the couches is made from salvaged bowling alley lanes, as are the desks in the bedrooms. The shelves are recycled wooden crates, the bell came from a church. Secure keyless entry with your own unique code.

Ornamental fireplace.

Gourmet kitchen, well-stocked with equipment for cooking, including stand-mixer, blender, kettle, good stove and oven, dishwasher, toaster, saucepans, kitchen knives, all expected utensils. More than enough glasses, bowls, plates, knives, forks, etc., and a cheerful supply of Table on Ten teatowels and PG Tips tea.

Radiant under-floor heating in winter with Nest thermostats on both floors. Great a/c in the summer. Poured concrete floors downstairs, Siberian Oak upstairs. Washer/dryer in the basement, with supplies of laundry detergent.

Dedicated high-speed wi-fi, powerful Parrot by Starck bluetooth music. Flat-screen Apple TV in the master bedroom, which facilitates HD movies and television through your iTunes, Netflix or other accounts.

Great for family reunions, dinners. Also for workshops, 'off-site' think-tank meetings, where participants want to work all hours without having to resort to hotels conference rooms.

However, we cannot allow parties (or things that sound like parties to the neighbours at 3 am when their kids are wide awake because of the thumping music next door).

Photo/Video shoots at different rates upon request.

Easy on-street parking. A and C trains one block away, G two blocks away, short walk to 2/3/4/5/N/R/Q/D/B and LIRR ... minutes into Manhattan or over to Williamsburg.

Very secure and extremely quiet at night.

Amazing area for restaurants: 3 of Gothamist's top 18 pizza restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Also Roman's, Franny's, Bar Corvo, Chuko, Aita, James, Emily, The Finch, Marco's, Saraghina, Walter Foods, Brooklyn Farm, Locanda Vini & Olii, Ici, Smoke Joint, etc.. Great bars, food shopping at Provisions and Market on Greene, as well as Fort Greene and Grand Army Farmers Markets. Wine from Greene Grape, Olivino.

Very short walk to Brooklyn Academy of Music, BAM Harvey, Mark Morris Dance, BAM Rose Cinemas, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Fort Greene Park, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Library and (near legendary) Brooklyn Flea.

10 minute stroll to the The Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets.

And it has it's own website ... which maybe fills the story out a bit better - search on line for Bell End Brooklyn.
