The Space

Humble Bee Cottage is a beautiful recently converted stable on our working family farm. It is a lovely old stone-built cottage which was formerly a stable attached to Cowslip Cottage (our other propery let through airbnb). Located in the village of Killinghall, only a short drive or walk from the famous spa town of Harrogate. With amazing views and friendly hosts who are happy to show guests around the farm ,this peaceful location is idyllic. There is so plenty to see and do in the local area and with games (including a Wii console) provided free of charge for a rainy day, you'll never be short of activities. Lots of information provided to help you plan days out. Free use of wellies for everyone and even home-cooked meals if required.

There are two local pubs within walking distance and a park. The bus stops right at the end of the lane going directly to Harrogate, Leeds or Ripon via Ripley. Trains from Harrogate go regulalry to Leeds, York and London.

Accommodation:
There is ample parking for cars/vans at the rear of the cottage. From the front door, there is a small hallway and to the right is an open plan living room, dining table and kitchen. There is one downstairs bedroom and a wetroom with funky square shower and square toilet! Upstairs past the fabulous view on the hallway there are two double bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and one with a superkingsize that can be split into two singles and a bathroom with shower over bath.

There is a patio area and an enclosed garden with wooden furniture for BBQs or just sitting to enjoy the wonderful views. We have provided a digital flatscreen TV, DVD and Wii Console with DVDs, books and games in the living room, there is a microwave, electric hob and oven, grill and extractor hood, a washing machine and dishwasher. Freshly laundered towels and bedding are all provided.

The cottage is centrally heated and we now have a gorgeous log burner which is not required heat but lovely for atmosphere and we provide kindling, logs etc for your first fire with more available on request. An extremely well equipped kitchen for the keen baker or cook. Ample parking. Babies welcome with bowls, cutlery, bibs and toys provided. Travel cot and high chairs available free of charge - please bring own cot bedding. Outside Furniture. BBQs permitted (free hire of bbq stand and disposable bbq's available). WiFi included in whole property and please note we have very good mobile reception here on all networks. Pets accepted by arrangement.

  • There isn't enough room on this forum to tell readers all the wonderful things about Humble Bee Cottage. Simply stated, Humble Bee Cottage is ideal for families who are interested in seeing any Yorkshire locations-- and there are MANY Yorkshire locations worth seeing. Humble Bee Cottage is perfectly situated- a country setting very close to many towns, shopping, places to eat, bus and train routes, and any convenience a family may need. The cottage is comfortable, from the plumbing, to the wifi, to the bedding. Tanya and David are welcoming hosts. The view is fantastic and in many ways, our stay was better than we've experienced at some high-end resorts. We highly recommend Humble Bee Cottage.

  • Ok, wow!

We had a great time in London and Edinburgh, but our best time of the trip was spent in and around Humble Bee Cottage.

The cottage was a great fit for the 5 of us. The beds were comfy. Everything was super clean and newly remodeled. It was great having the two bathrooms. The kitchen was well stocked and fabulous for the two chefs in our party.

But what put our stay over the top was Tanya, she was AMAZING. She gave us wonderful recommendations including a fabulous place to eat while we were in Edinburgh, before we even got to the cottage.

She also told us about the amazing public footpaths that go right through the farm where the cottage is located. I went on three walks while we were there and saw beautiful countryside, the river Nidd, and discovered some other beautiful little towns in the area.

And best of all she was wonderful with our 8-year-old daughter Audrey. She let her collect the chicken eggs and help out cleaning the chicken coop and feeding the chickens. She took us in the barn and showed Audrey the two-day-old calves. Audrey also got to feed some of the older calves.

I definitely recommend a stay at Humble Bee Cottage!

  • What a lovely cottage in a beautiful and peaceful setting! We were there a short time, but Tanya greeted us warmly and gave us a discount coupon for our meal at the Three Horseshoes pub. If you are All Creatures Great and Small fans, we highly recommend the World of James Herriot in Thirsk. We wish we had been brave enough to drive; a car would make sight-seeing so much more convenient, but we had lovely taxi drivers from Harrogate.

The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable, with excellent wifi. It would be great for family vacations!

  • Excellent value and standard of accommodation. The cottage is 2 miles from Harrogate and a great base to get into the Dales. So a perfect blend of Yorkshire scenery and the amenities of town close at hand.

Some nice touches such as home made Jam, bread and a bottle of the farm's milk on arrival. Would strongly recommend this to anyone looking to stay in this part of the world.

  • We had such a great weekend in the cottage....stunning location, 10 minutes from Harrogate, 2 minutes from Ripley amongst other places.

Stunning views across the farm/fields, utterly comfortable place - wood burner, comfy beds, sofas, cool swinging chair, kitchen with anything and everything you need.

Tanya and David were pefect hosts, they could not have done more before and whilst we were there.

    We will be going back!!

  • A fantastic place to stay. Tanya was really helpful in getting everything set up for our children. The cottage is furnished and equipped to a very high standard. We particularly enjoyed the log fire.

    Would strongly recommend.

About
Hi, my name is Tanya, I am married to the lovely David. We live on our dairy farm in a village called Killinghall just outside Harrogate with our two lovely dogs and lots of cows! We have two holiday cottages and a campsite on our farm which we call The Cud Life. I have a cookshop called Cooking Fantastic which I have just moved to the farm which was in the pretty picturesque market town of Knaresborough for 10 years. We love to welcome families and individuals and are happy to show guests around the farm whilst they are here and provide plenty of local information for those who want to explore beautiful North Yorkshire.
