If you are thinking of staying in Tamarindo and you are a family of 5 or less. Please stop looking and book this place before it is gone. We just left this place and we were sad to leave. Mariano was very accommodating. We arrived early and we were allowed to check in early. Which was great. Check in was a breeze. When we arrived we just rang the doorbell located to the right of the gate and we were greeted by a smiling Eduardo ready to check us in. He happily showed us around and gave us the keys. Yes. Only one set. Slight inconvenience but not horrible. By the way. Eduardo will make your stay amazing. I seriously felt like I had a butler. If I was at the pool and needed an extra table. He brought one out. If I needed a bicycle to ride to the store he pumped up the tire for me. Chairs for the beach? He'll get them for you. Boogie boards? Done. The chairs are a little worn but they work. The boogie boards have seen better days but they still do the trick and it beats buying one in town for $58 US. DIrections? He'll tell you where to go. BUT. it will be in Spanish. He speaks very little English. Actually I don't know if he speaks any. Between my broken Spanish and my high school age daughter that has been learning Spanish in school we were able to get by in terms of communication. You can do what you want but I tipped him everyday with a bonus at the end because of how satisfied I was. Wait until you get there and you will see what I am talking about. Okay. The actual place. 2 queen beds and a futon for the fifth person. A small fridge that holds everything you need. A hot plate that takes a long time to warm up (maybe 12 minutes to make 4 eggs) a microwave and a mr coffee (and a bag of coffee supplied by Mariano) and a full kitchen set that has everything you may need to cook a meal. A TV, and coffee table to relax. There is also a table and 4 stools to eat a meal inside. There is a patio with a hammock and a table and three chairs and some "hang out" chairs. There is a ceiling fan and light outside and Eduardo got us an oscillating fan to keep the air moving. The pool is amazing and so refreshing and amazingly clean. There is an outdoor shower for when you return from the beach and jets on the hot tub (same temp as the pool) but it feels so refreshing after a hot day at the beach. Oh. The beach? I averaged about 125 steps from the gate to the beach. Right down a quick pathway (watch for horse poop). It's about a 6 minute slow jog to the center of town and...
We had a great stay! The groundskeeper, Eduardo, was very polite and helpful. He doesn't speak any English, so if you don't speak Spanish, anything more than checking in and out is hard to understand. The pool is refreshing and clean and the jacuzzi uses the same water- not hot. It was so hot during the days though that we were grateful. Their is a cat that roams the place and is very sweet. Although she didn't stop raccoons from toppling over anything outside to find food. The beds are pretty hard, but the place was clean and had every kitchen appliance we could ask for! The shower had hot water and towels provided. Only having one set of keys could pose a problem for others, but we figured it out. It's also worth mentioning that it's a good 15-20 minute walk from here to the closest restaurants or shops in Tamarindo but the walk along the beach is gorgeous. A cab cost about 2-3mil or $4-5 so not too bad. Overall, we had a great stay and would return.
This location and setting were wonderful. The palms trees and tropical flowers made for a secluded setting, with the pool just steps from the room. The ocean is just across the road, and we used the provided boogie boards every day! The room is peaceful and quiet, furthering the relaxation. Yet access to all the restaurants and stores in tamarindo is literally minutes away. While we spoke no spanish, Eduardo is a wonderful onsite resource who cares for the property with an eye on detail (including replacing towels before we needed to ask). Enjoy the unique location!
We had a great time at Casa Sueca! The studio apartment we stayed in was perfect for our small family of three. I loved that the pool was just steps away. The small building grounds are lush with plants and well maintained by Eduardo the groundskeeper. He was great...very friendly, always easily accessible, and always happy to help. Casa Sueca has the best access to the beach compared to other rental properties on the same street. It is literally right across the street from the path to access the beach...about a 2 minute walk and you are on the beach. The location is removed from the busy commotion of Tamarindo, but it is an easy walk along the beach, about 15 minutes to get to the center of town.
Casa Sueca was amazing. The best part about this place is that it's far enough away that it's a little quieter and more secluded than the downtown area, but very easy to access Tamaridno center. It's a 15 minute (beautiful!) walk on the beach, which is seconds from the casa. We were greeted by the groundskeeper Eduardo who was very helpful and attentive throughout our stay. The apartment was great, fully equipped and had a lush patio area (beautiful mosaic picnic table and a pretty little swing for relaxing). This overlooked the pool which was amazing during the day for reading or enjoying a few cervesas. The pool area also had a grill if you're interested in cooking at home. The apartment was clean and spacious for two. All in all it was a great stay, we would absoluely come back!
We were hoping for a quiet getaway in Tamarindo and this place delivered! It was a great stay for a great price. The walk to the beach is literally 2 minutes. It takes about 10 minutes along the beach to get in to the heart of town. The small kitchenette was also convenient and saved us some money. It was stocked with the essentials for cooking to have a nice breakfast or lunch. The supermarket is just a short walk down the street or beach. Brush up on your Spanish as the grounds keepers don't speak English, but they are very helpful to accommodate with any needs. Eduardo is very sweet! The short comings of this place were the directions provided as the address was incorrect. We originally saw this was a king size bed when we booked, but actually was two full beds--so we had to sleep in separate beds--not that romantic. Lastly, we didn't get to meet the host. I would have loved for the host to be there to help with our bearings of the city and give us recommendations--i find this to be the most attractive of using an Airbnb.
