The Space

A bright yellow room with lots of windows and tons on closet space!!

room in a large house on quiet greenspace. We have no pets but do have a ROOSTER so expect fresh eggs and some morning chatter. (the henhouse is about 100 feet away. )
Two other people stay in the house, but they have their own bathrooms.
the house is off the grid so the shower is rainwater as is the taps.
Drinking water is from the bubbler.
the solar power here in Austin is plenty except in winter when we don't rent or lower our rates to reflect the change. during this off season time we interview people more and ask for longer stays.

At festival times there will probably be someone across the hall from this room and sharing the bath, but presently it's used (email hidden) or not at all.
read our other listings to get a feel for the place and just know the pictures make the place look immpecabbly clean, and although this is common, our order and the fell of the place fluxuates some. That said, please know you can raise an order card and we'll fix things to your needs. ( i am saying this b/c of one guest that was a little miffed, read our reviews for what's what)
Also we (email hidden) so sometimes that means there's more bugs here than other places, we help you prepare for that and for fox deer racoons.
besides our chicken coop we have an apiary (they are well away from the house if you are allergic, but they are here) so fresh raw honey can be had some times of the year.

  • My stay at Nora's Room was exactly what I needed at that point in time. It's no-frills, so if you require pampering, this isn't the place. If, however, your soul craves rest, rejuvenation and peace, then this is the place to be. The experience of being in a densely populated city, yet enjoying solitude and nature as if no one were around for miles, is phenomenal. When I arrived, I was tense, constricted and totally stressed. When I left, I could breathe again and felt at ease. My room was clean and comfortable and homey. It felt like being a summer camp, with all the sounds of nature lulling me to sleep at night. The bus stop is a short walk away and easily accessible. There are restaurants within walking distance (Chili's, Macaroni Grill, Chipotle, Jimmy John's), as well as grocery stores and a CVS Pharmacy.

  • Coleman's place was exactly as promised: an Eco-friendly retreat very close to downtown. Simple, but peaceful and full of good spirit. Gracious host who attracts cool people, so if you're looking to an alternative stay, definitely consider it

  • I was there primarily for the ACL music festival so my focus would be different than most - I was just interested in the basics..... Colemans place definately supplied this and more as it was truly an authentic Austintonian experience. My only regret was that I didnt have more time to (email hidden) and enjoy trading travel/life stories with this great host and other guests -youll feel right at home instantaneously.

  • Staying at colemans was such a lovely experience. It was so much more than we ever thought. The setting was just gorgeous, and the room and house was really homely. We met some great fellow travellers which made the whole time really fun. I would definitely stay again.

  • I can say that my trip down here was very good the overall area had a good outdoors area along with it being eco so I was happy to stay there it was quite wonderful with some of the things they used in their place to help nature and not damage it I would say that Coleman was a very good host all in all this (email hidden).

  • Super nice people, and a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city.

  • I liked the burrito truck, and the organic coffee cafe. Cole kept all my questions answered. I liked being off of the beaten path or grid during sxsw. Nice and clean and windswept. I would stay here again.

I enjoy meeting new people and sharing the world I've carved up on in Austin. i love nature and peace it brings me. I grew up in New Hampshire and also love to travel. I once had a pig named Penelope. and I like handmade items antiques gardening and all things mystical. It's important to me to do what I can to keep our planet healthy and share ideas that make this happen gracefully and including all people.
