About This Listing
ATTENTION SXSW last minute special FRIDAY SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL!!!
A bright yellow room with lots of windows and tons on closet space!!
room in a large house on quiet greenspace. We have no pets but do have a ROOSTER so expect fresh eggs and some morning chatter. (the henhouse is about 100 feet away. )
Two other people stay in the house, but they have their own bathrooms.
the house is off the grid so the shower is rainwater as is the taps.
Drinking water is from the bubbler.
the solar power here in Austin is plenty except in winter when we don't rent or lower our rates to reflect the change. during this off season time we interview people more and ask for longer stays.
At festival times there will probably be someone across the hall from this room and sharing the bath, but presently it's used as a massage space or not at all.
read our other listings to get a feel for the place and just know the pictures make the place look immpecabbly clean, and although this is common, our order and the fell of the place fluxuates some. That said, please know you can raise an order card and we'll fix things to your needs. ( i am saying this b/c of one guest that was a little miffed, read our reviews for what's what)
Also we are a nature space so sometimes that means there's more bugs here than other places, we help you prepare for that and for fox deer racoons.
besides our chicken coop we have an apiary (they are well away from the house if you are allergic, but they are here) so fresh raw honey can be had some times of the year.
think good thoughts and respect yourself and others.
This was a quiet, peaceful experience. It felt like being out in the country, and yet it's IN Austin. Comfortable bed, adjoining bathroom with shower. There was one other guest in the house, but we never crossed paths, and it felt as though I had the house to myself. Coleman was accommodating, and made sure I had everything I needed. A pleasant, restful experience.
Coleman was very accommodating; my companion and I arrived in Austin quite late and didn't get to Coleman's until 1am. He was up, busy in his al fresco woodworking shop, and got us settled into our room right away. This place is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, but so close to all the great spots in Austin. There is ample parking and plenty of home/land to roam or relax. This is very simple living, so if you're looking for loads of modern amenities, this may not be the place for you. It was certainly the place for us, and we can't wait to visit again.
Coleman was very reachable and flexible that we could drop off our bags before the room was ready. While I did understand that the property was off-grid, I did not realize that the lights would not work except when there was sunlight. I also did not realize that there was a special plug in the room, that would provide power even when no sunlight was present. It was a little inconvenient in the morning since there were 3 of us that needed to get ready to go for an early business meeting. Good for vacation not for business.
This was a wonderful place to stay and just what we wanted peace and quiet in a nice haven close to the city. Loved using Colemans spin bike in the morning outside in nature. Great place to relax after a day exploring the city. Coleman is super friendly and helped us with any info we needed about Austin while there.
I came to Coleman's eco-home from nyc looking for some fresh air and solitude during my time at sxsw. Nora's room was the exact dose of good energy I needed. One morning I woke up to a rooster cocka-doodling right outside my window. Coleman kept his place very clean, and had plenty of extra towels waiting for me right when I got there. He also made a fire every night, I loved the burning wood smell. Getting to downtown was easy enough. The bus was a short walk away, and you could call an uber. A typical cab ride into downtown was about 15-20 bucks. If you stay here it may be just as cheap and convenient to rent a car. I will probably do that for next sx. Overall lovely, lovely place to stay.
