The Space

Open space live/work/love loft in Santa Monica, one of LA’s best neighborhoods only 6 blocks from the ocean.

Comprising large open-plan living/dining/kitchen, Japanese style bathroom and a mezzanine floor with queen bed set under skylights. It’s perfect for a couple or small family.

A well known and loved local architect designed this cosy new home with ingenious use of space and light. Timber, glass and steel, tastefully decorated with plants and European furnishings, give it a contemporary Zen feel. Light streams in through big windows and skylights in the high-vaulted ceiling. 550 square feet with 14 foot vaulted ceilings

The free standing building has its own private entrance, past a bamboo grove, at the rear of a Santa Monica designer home, with ample street parking.

SLEEPS UP TO 4

Take the mobile stairway to a heavenly double bedroom loft level where you can enjoy respite from LA, draw the curtains and watch the real stars through the skylight.

There’s also a modern couch in the downstairs living area, that folds out into a double bed or two singles bed, suitable for additional guests.

LIVING/ KITCHEN AREA

The living room houses a dining table, comfy lounge a wall-mounted flat screen TV discretely placed behind the designer cabinets.

The open-plan kitchen is complete with quality imported European appliances, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, rice cooker, blender, cooking utensils, silver wear and crockery. Make use of the imported Smeg stove-top with oven by using the finger touch activated settings. We supply a starter pack of basic essentials like quality sea salt and virgin cold pressed olive oil.

Massive sliding glass doors open out to a bamboo grove. You’ll love the Feng Shui!

  • Recently my son and I had a wonderful stay at Robert's ECO Guest House. The place was intelligently designed and stocked up with everything we could ask for. Robert greeted us, walked us through the property, let me in on local happenings and even helped me with my bags! He was kind enough to arrange an additional bike for my son and sent us a Sunday reminder about the local Farmer's Market. The neighborhood was incredibly safe, quiet and clean.

Our overall stay was a 10 out 10! Thank you Robert!!!

  • Very nice place and extremely quiet neighborhood. Easy to park and close to SM and Venice. I would totally stay there again.

  • Our 13-year-old daughter and I had a wonderful time at the Eco Guest House. It was the perfect space for our 5 night stay in Santa Monica--light, airy, clean and quiet. The beds were comfortable and the appliances worked well! It was a short walk, bike ride or drive from the beach, pier, downtown, Venice, shopping, Whole Foods, and restaurants. Loved the neighborhood and friendly neighbors and we were always able to park near our rental. Best part was the beach cruiser, which was included in the rental, and another bike that Robert was able to find for us to use during our stay. We were able to park our car for days and get around town on our bikes. Robert was truly a gracious host. Overall, a 5-star experience!

  • What a great space! The guest house had everything I needed to feel at home and comfortable for a week in November. The location was great being close to the best parts of Santa Monica and the beach. Would definitely stay again.

  • Robert is a fantastic host and I love his guest house! This place is great (super clean and well kept). It has a comfortable open floor plan that's impeccably designed. The neighborhood is fantastic, quintessential Santa Monica. It is peaceful and quiet and yet you can easily walk to Main Street to hang at Peets in the morning or grab dinner in the evening. I was working during my stay so the fast Fios internet connection was very important to me. Robert provides you with everything you need - hd tv, plenty of towels, extra sheets, an iron, hairdryer, kitchenware, etc. + a nice bottle of wine. ;) I look forward to staying here again (in the not so distant future) and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for a place in the Santa Monica or Venice area.

  • Quiet, beautifully designed apartment in a great neighborhood. 10 minute walk to the beach, 5 minutes to high quality bars and restaurants. Even better, use a bike and access the beachside cycle path north to Santa Monica or South to Venice and beyond.

Robert is a great host, welcoming, friendly and responsive. Overall, highly recommended.

  • Robert was a wonderful host and made us most welcome during our stay in Santa Monica. The property was perfect – with a beautiful and well considered design it fulfilled our every need during our stay and is in the perfect location to explore surrounding Santa Monica and Venice as well as further afield along the Pacific coast and central LA. I hope to come back soon and would recommend this to anyone.

  • Robert was a great host and made us feel at home in the Guest which is a fantastic place to stay. Modern, cosy, quiet and very safe. Robert was also very helpful and gave us tips on how to get around in the area. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who's coming through Santa Monica.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the "loft." In fact, the space was perfect. If it was a rental, I'd be first in line.

The space is bright and airy. Very quiet neighborhood. Blissful sleeping under an open skylight. Within walking distance to everything you need...beach, main street, etc..

  • a beautiful little place in a safe and quiet santa monica neighbourhood. we loved the modern design, the skylights, the stunning compact kitchen and all the amenities, everything was thought off from lots of throws, duvets, towels, bathroom amenities to the housekeeper even making a special little bed for our baby. the only downside, it is in a modified garage and when the main house next door is in use, the tenant's car is parked right in front of the garage studio-loft which was a bit disturbing late at night.

    Response from Robert Mack:

FYI: I don't know if our Guests remembered... but I did show them the slliding metal roll-up/down, which at night can be closed blocking any car lights and giving Guests complete privacy. And we also are adding curtains along the sliding doors which will do the same.
