Schoeneberg-quiet, cosy, convenient

Apartment - Private room · Gustav-Müller-Straße, Berlin, Berlin 10829, Germany

The Space

The apartment is located in a very safe, quiet, tree-lined, street. It is warm, clean and quiet. Perfect, if you like to live away from the noise and hassle of the inner-city but you still want to see the sights ... Brandeburger Tor is only a 10 minute train ride away.

The 15m2 bedroom is very cosy and comfortable. It has a queen-size double bed. And, of course, there are plenty of pillows, blankets, bed linen, and towels. If you would prefer 2 single beds - it can easily be arranged. The bedroom has a huge double wardrobe to store all your clothes and stuff, so there's always plenty of room to stretch out relax. And if you need a work desk - no problem.

It has a great little kitchen with a new fridge and washing machine. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need - plates, cutlery, pots and pans, toaster, blender, ... even some tea, coffee, herbs, etc.

And, in the evening, after a big day in the city, light some candles and enjoy a long hot soak in the bath.

Of course, there's a speedy DSL wireless internet connection.

SCHOENEBURG:
The immediate neighbourhood is very peaceful and safe with lots of trees and small parks, and a smattering of cafes, bakeries, supermarkets, antique shops, and takeaways. And a great little organics shop for all your fresh fruit and veges.

A short 10 min walk takes you to the warm heart of Schoeneberg - Akazienstrasse - renowned for it's many great restaurants, bars, takeaways and wonderful boutique shopping of all kinds. Nearby you can find all the standard shops you need - banks, supermarkets, post-office, bottle stores, chemists, etc.

If you love the markets check out the 3 street markets in the area - the Turkish market, Nollendorfplatz, and Rathaus Schoeneberg,

Also you might want to check out Rathaus Schoeneburg - this is the city hall where JFK gave his famous speech. It is situated next to a beautiful park which is a lovely place to stroll and picnic when the weather is good.

TRANSPORT:
Getting around Berlin for sightseeing, work, or visiting friends is a very easy because there are so many transport options.

There are 3 train stations handy and numerous bus routes. This means easy access to the airports, city centre, and outer suburbs. It is also very handy for a trip to historical Potsdam.

Sudreuz is the closest train station - 5 mins walk. It is a busy hub for trains, buses and taxis. It is a major station on the Ring-bahn (the circular train track around Berlin). You can also catch Berlin city trains, and many inter-city trains here. Also, you can get to Schoenefeld airport direct by train from here.

Lastly, there's my trusty yellow bicycle, which your are very welcome to use - perfect for shopping trips and getting around the city. Like all good Berlin street bikes - it looks a bit battered but it is basically indestructible. Trust me - I've put it through hell and she still goes well.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about Berlin and my apartment - I usually check airbnb several times a day.

  • I stayed in Paul's apartment for roughly four weeks in October-November 2012. The first few days were somewhat chaotic, because Paul needed to travel for family reasons. He seems like a very nice guy, but we didn't meet under the greatest circumstances, and he was understandably very busy. After the first three or four days, everything went very smoothly. The apartment is conveniently located near the Südkreuz S+U Bahn and Julius-Leber Brücke S Bahn stations, so it was easy to get to Dahlem where I was working at the Free University. However, I must note that the walk to Julius-Leber Brücke is much nicer than the walk to Südkreuz, so I generally preferred to avoid Südkreuz at night. Schöneberg is generally a nice area with many good restaurants and shops. Even though he wasn't around, Paul arranged for someone to clean the room weekly, which was very helpful. I would say that the room was kept moderately clean. Overall, I would say that my first Airbnb experience was pretty pleasant.

  • We spent a fantastic week at Paul's apartment. When we arrived he took us on a walk of the neighbourhood, providing recommendations for restaurants and bike hire. Paul was generous, lending us books to read and coats when the weather got colder. We had many entertaining conversations with him. The apartment was clean.

  • Paul was kind enough to greet us at his local train station (even after our first train was delayed for 2 hrs). After we settled in he offered to show us around his neighborhood and help orient us. This was very helpful because he pointed out the best places to get groceries, eat various types of food, and get just about anywhere in town.

Paul made our stay with him easy and comfortable. We're very glad that we were able to get to know him and his unique personality. :-)

  • Paul gives me contact quite often so that I didn't worry to arrive there even he's not there when I check-in. The room location is close to the station to which I could reach easily by Strain from Schoeneferd airport.

The room is cosy with double bed, mirrors, closets and table and chair with flowers and nice neighborhood view.
    Showers and toilets are clean.

Paul was busy and not much at the house, but gave me direction about the neighborhood to walk around.

Nice cafes, bio shops, supermarkets are in walking distance so that didn't have problem what to eat.

    I think it's totally worth for 20euro / night .

  • Paul is very nice and the room comfortable. besides that the train station is very near and the ways down town short. The only thing to complain is the smell in the appartement, a mixture between incense sticks and little nikotin.-

  • Paul is a friendly host and we enjoyed staying with him. He is willing to explain things to you if needed and the place is clean and tidy. Paul´s house is a good base from which to explore Berlin. It´s close the Sudkreuz trainstation, allowing to you reach the city centre of Berlin within 10 minutes. Enjoy your trip to Berlin in Paul´s place!

About
Hi, I have been living in Berlin for about 5 years. For my job I teach English. It's a great job because I'm always meeting new people and helping them to communicate better. In my free time I like to meet up with my friends in a cafe, or bike around the city and parks. I read voraciously and eclectically, e.g. novels, travel, history, biography, health, economics, and current events. I'm always learning new things, and at the moment my current project is testing new business ideas people who want to learn English online.
