Our spacious 850sf Historic Hyde Park cottage is blocks from Bayshore, a short walk to Bern’s, Hyde Park Village, and numerous restaurants and bars! This charming 2/1 (queen/twin), 2nd story carriage house is in the heart of historic Hyde Park, a very walkable area.

Please send a message if you do not see your dates available. Note that the cottage is not next to the highway as the map view may suggest. Ask about amenities in our well-equipped kitchen and longer-term stays.

The space
Our large 850 sf carriage house is a separate structure from the main house and is located above the garage at the rear of the property. The carriage house has 2 bedrooms with a queen bed (Nectar mattress) in the main bedroom, and a twin bed/office with a desk/reading chair in the small bedroom. The cottage enjoys a private entrance, central heat and air, hardwood floors, a full-size fridge, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fast WiFi with enhanced security including VPN, a smart TV, ceiling fans in all rooms, plenty of countertop and closet space, numerous board games for rainy days, and soft Turkish cotton towels. The main house is a renovated 1925 Arts and Crafts bungalow, the rear patio of which is available for guest use overlooking the lushly landscaped backyard.

The Samsung Smart TV receives YouTubeTV (cable substitute). Search YouTubeTV and our zip code of 33606 to find your favorite channels. Also, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney, Apple TV, YouTube, and many more streaming services are available; just log in with your credentials and stream away. Don’t forget to log out before you leave. In addition, the TV receives several over the air TV channels as well as many more on Samsung TV. Off street parking is generally available in the driveway; the owner uses the alley for vehicle access.

This space is great for vacationers, remote working professionals, relatives visiting college students, convention center visitors (2 miles/easy Uber away), MacDill AFB visitors, and staycationers who want to come into the city for a walkable experience in a historically significant neighborhood. Longer-term stays are welcome. A BBQ grill is available on the back patio of the main house; instructions for use are in the guestbook.

Guest access
You will have access to the cottage above the garage. It has a private entrance with a ground floor smart lock (owner uses this door for garage access), and a 2nd upstairs lockable entry door. The cottage is not shared.

Other things to note
The guesthouse is above the garage behind the main house. You will have a private entrance and may park in the driveway or use street parking (one side of the street only); details will be in the message string. There is one flight of stairs.

Please note that only registered guests are allowed on the property unless permission has been granted in advance by the host or co-host to have a guest.

We are walking distance to Bayshore Blvd, Soho, Hyde Park Village, numerous restaurants and watering holes, and best of all located just a few steps from Bern’s Steakhouse! The neighborhood is filled with quaint historic homes and is very walkable. Rentable scooters and bikes are available in the neighborhood and ride share (Uber/Lyft) are abundant.

I'm a Tampa native, and finished renovating my c. 1925 Craftsman Bungalow that I have owned since 1995 in Hyde Park, S. Tampa. During this time I lived in my detached garage apartment. Now I'm back in my house and it's time to share the garage apartment with travelers! I have hosted several folks from around the world in my home via Couchsurfing, so I'm familiar with the hosting concept. I frequently use this online community as well as Airbnb to stay with locals when I travel the world. "See the world" and "collect experiences over things" are my mottos! October 2020 update: I purchased and renovated an efficiency condo on Madeira Beach and I'm excited to offer it on Airbnb. It's super convenient to the beach being right across the street! Don't hesitate to message me through Airbnb for questions on the best restaurants and activities on the beach.
