The space
The King’s Room remembers ‘The fourteen tribes of Ireland’ who shared the majestic title of, ‘The Tribal Chieftain Kings of Ireland”. The Kirwans or Ó Ciardhubháins along with D’Arcy (Ó Dorchaidhe) were the only two clans of Kingship who were Normanised Irish Gaels. They originally settled in the now ruin of nearby Castle Hackett.

Contemporary sources tell us that King Edward and Mrs. Simpson once stayed as guests in this room during a time of delicate decision. And of course, not to forget ‘Fin Bheara’ the King of the Daoine Sidhe in Irish folklore who inhabits nearby Knockma Hill.

The room offers an allusion towards the past regal status of the three Kings. With a full ensuite, early 20th century furniture, king-sized bed and crisp Egyptian cotton bedding, enjoy the opportunity to gaze and reminisce over the historical and gentle pastureland towards Knockma.
