Private bedroom in our retro 1970's Ranch-style home in South Austin. Our house is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, with a relaxing back yard.
The room for rent is equipped with a comfortable queen-sized bed, spacious closet, desk, free WI-FI and use of a private bathroom. You also have full access of the flat screen cable TV in the living room, copious DVD's, kitchen, washer/dryer, backyard, and parking.
We are located approximately 7.2 miles from downtown proper. The #10 bus (on the corner) will take you downtown in less than 20 minutes and stops at Auditorium Shores for Fun Fun Fun Festival or ACL. We are also a short 15 minute drive to the airport and Formula 1 racetrack. Nearby, there is a grocery store, sushi restaurant, and yummy mexican food!!!
If you're driving, you can park on the drive way or street, either is fine.
Interaction with Guests
Depends on the days booked; we work a lot so were hardly ever home during the week.
We live in South Austin. It is a family-oriented neighborhood and pretty quiet.
Yes, the #10 is 1.5 blocks away and will take you directly downtown. No need to transfer busses.
Uber is also cheaper than a cab, and will get you DT for under $13.
Keep the cat indoors and if you're a smoker, please smoke on the porch. That's it.
Pamela was a lovely host and their home is beautiful and very welcoming. Pamela helped us to plan our trip into Austin which was great! The place is well located if you're driving from Houston, because it is very close from the freeway exit. Going into Austin is a 13 min uber trip or a bus, which is better if you have a bit of extra time as the bus goes straight down south congress and sometimes the uber drivers take the freeway (which doesn't provide much of a feel for Austin!) Great place and great hosts!
Great people and a great place. They've done a lovely job of decorating their home. The room is snug and probably best for one person, but it was spotless which is all I cared about. I particularly loved the backyard space and I always felt comfortable to go into the common areas. I can't speak to taking the bus as I only took ubers while staying there. There isn't much in the way of walking distance until you get further into the city, but it didn't matter since Pamela and Matt were such fantastic hosts. Would certainly stay again. And bonus they have the sweetest dog and cat.
Pam + Matt are great hosts! I as arrived after a very long drive and instantly felt welcomed. Highly recommend. Both had great recommendations and the room was better than expected.
I had a great time staying with Pamela and Matt in there laid back home. Real down to earth folks and kind. Their dog Izzy is a peach. They do have a cat as well which I forgot to ask about when booking so be aware of that if you are allergic.
This place is well into So Austin so a car is ideal. Found the bus too infrequent and too long a ride time wise for daily use.
Very friendly and warm place to stay!
Matt and Pamela are just fabulous! I ended up staying here for 6 weeks and they are the most relaxed, chilled and helpful people ever! I loved my time here and truly felt at home and made best buddies with Izzy the French bulldog! The home is pretty and original though the room is quite compact. There is a bus 5 minutes away that takes you to most places but with only 2 buses per hour, you need to plan well or better still, have a car. Would stay here again.
Silvia is an ideal guest! She's an independent spirit who didn't need much hand-holding. After only a couple of days with us, she settled into Austin and found her routine. My only regret is that we didn't get to spend more days-off together. But when we did, I really enjoyed our conversations. She offered up some great advice and even recommended some books I plan on reading. We (Izzy included) will definitely miss her.
This was my first Airbnb experience, and it was an absolutely wonderful two week stay..thanks to Pamela and Matt! The house is super cute, with a comfy bed and private bath, and a cute little backyard with a hammock! It is in a convenient location to many shops and a straight shot to downtown Austin.
Pamela & Matt were beyond awesome hosts! I stayed with them nearly 3 weeks when I arrived in Austin for a new job and had to wait to move into my own place. I had never used AirBnB before, but my parents had and I used my mother's account to book the reservation. I was a bit nervous for my first experience to be such a long one, but Pamela and Matt gave me such a warm welcome to Austin that I was soon feeling right at home. Their beautiful home was very convenient to downtown Austin and to just about everywhere else I wanted to go. An easy 10-15 minute drive to downtown even during "rush hour" times. I enjoyed several evenings chatting and watching television with Pamela on the couch after work as she gave me lots of great recommendations on all things Austin has to offer as a new resident. I regret I didn't get to socialize much with Matt due to his work schedule but I did enjoy seeing his band play during my first weekend in town. I can't say I would stay with them again as I am now a resident of Austin, but I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an "Uniquely Austin" place to stay! Thanks so much Pamela and Matt, hope we can hang out again soon, Lacie
Matt moved here from New York, and myself, San Francisco. We've lived in Austin for about 7 years now and have carefully chosen "our favorite spots," and we'd love to share them with you during your sojourn. Matt knows the best places for Vegan chorizo and I can show you where to find a real steak in Texas. We're both really into music, he's more behind the scenes, and I'm all about the shows; I guess that's what brought us to The Live Music Capital of the World...and to each other.
We like to think of our house as a representation of ourselves as a couple; part Mid Century Modern, part rock n' roll, part DIY. And we hope that you will find our place a nice, tranquil retreat from the hustle n' bustle that is Austin!!
