About this listing
This cabin with view of the fjord, is located only 10 min by car from the center of Drøbak (45 mins from Oslo).
Outside there's a spacious deck and a large uncultivated property. There's also a small porch outside the panoramic windows. The inside features a living area with panoramic windows (facing south towards the fjord), a large couch, a fireplace and a small sitting-group by the window. The kitchen is small but functional with hot/cold water, refrigerator and a gas stove. Two of the bedrooms have bunk-beds (2 per room) and the master bedroom features a queen-size bed. Just outside the living-room (accessible from the porch) there is a small washroom with a sink, but no WC. There is an outhouse (latrine) on the property for the private matters :) The toilet is a dry toilet (not a wc). You find this in a little house right behind the cabin (see photos). The shower is an outside shower behind the cabin with hot/cold water (see photos). It's wonderful to take a hot shower outside in the fresh air!
A secluded beach (with excellent fishing oportunities) is just a quick stroll from the cabin. There is also a large recreational area by the seafront in the centre of historical Drøbak.
This is a quiet cabin neigborhood in a lovely coastal forest area. It is not uncommon to see/hear Roe (deer), Mink and other forest animals, so don't get startled if you hear some rustling in the woods nighttime. :) There is no TV, internet, etc but the fireplace and the sunset is plenty entertaining on summer nights. There is a BBQ on the porch.
Drøbak is a typical cozy Norwegian coastal village with lushious gardens, small white houses and cozy alleys. It's not a bad place to spend an evening with a bucket of freshly boiled shrimps, a glass (or two) of white wine and a view of the sunset.
There's even a bar or two ;)
85 km from Oslo airport / approximately 1 hour drive by car.
40 km from Oslo central station /40 minutes drive.
Oslo to Drøbak by bus: 50 minutes/ 70,-NOK. From Drøbak you need to take a taxi to the cabin; 6 km/10 minutes.
There's only one problem with this house: you have to leave it sooner or later! Wonderfully quiet, great outdoor space (including the shower - amazing) but also cosy in front of the fire in the evening if it gets cool. Simple kitchen but everything you need is there.
Hilde and Svend-Inge couldn't have been nicer, despite having to put up with me failing to find the place and arriving late (entirely my fault). There were even some groceries and welcome balloons for us.
The location is fantastic, Drobak is a beautiful little town a five minute drive away, with great swimming (and diving boards). There are also loads of walks in the forest and a short walk down to a beach with a pontoon in the water for more diving. Loved everything about this place.
We had a very nice time! The surroundings are awesome with views to the fiords. The cabin is very nice and cozy and if you want the experience of nature is perfect because the shower is outside and the toilette as well (dry toilette). The host is very nice and always takes good care of you!
What should I say...our stay at Hilde's cabin was really great from the very beginning til the end. We enjoyed our three days very much. And even when it started to rain we didn't care because it was so cozy and relaxing inside the cabin. We fell in love with this beautiful and idyllic place and would love to come back as soon as possible.
Many thanks to Hilde and her family!
Really nice cabin, enough room for the kids to play. And a very nice at the oslo fjord.
The short holiday in Norway has been great also because we where lodge in the Hilde cabin, nice and confortable.
We loved our short stay at Havblick Cottage, as a Brit the outdoor WC and shower were a surprise but only added to a magical experience. Norway must be the most beautiful, cleanest and friendliest place we have ever visited.... why the would and the UK in general cant follow their lead is a mystery!!
Thanks again for the use of the cottage.
About the Host, Hilde Tunby
Hello, I`m Hilde! I live in a small community named Ärvika together with my husband, Svend-Inge. We are norwegian citizens, who moved to Sweden eight years ago. We enjoy travelling and meeting people from all around the world. Every summer we invite canoe campers to an informal summer cafè in our garden. Some of them even spend the night in their own tent here or down by the lake. This area is perfect for people like us who enjoy hiking in quiet landscape, enjoying silence, forest, lakes, flowers, fishing and a generous wildlife.
Our cabin, which is listed here at this site, has much of the same surroundings. The biggest difference is that this cabin is located near to Oslo fjord (salt water).
We wish you a warm welcome to our place in Arvika Sweden! :)
