About this listing
Beautiful suite with bedroom, bathroom, balcony and a veranda overlooking the bay and the hills of Valparaiso. This suite is on the third floor of a restored house that is more than 100 years old and was built with red wood from Oregon and chilean oak at the beginning of the 20th century. It is a family home that include 4 generations and diferent nationalities.
In the morning we will bring the breakfast upstairs, so that you can enjoy the views while you get a good start into the day.
We are in a residential and quite area 5 minutes from the Naval Museum, the Artillery elevator and the 21st of May boulevard and only 10 minutes away from the historic harbour district with excellant fish restaurants and many bars. To the more touristic centers of Concepcion and Alegre hill it is a 20 minutes walk or 10 minutes with public buses.
There are several public transport options a few steps from the door of our house and for people who come in their own car we have a private parking place.
We offer walking tours, wine tours and visits to the museum of the chilean poet and Literature Nobel Price winner Pablo Neruda in Isla Negra, as well as excursions to the La Campana national reserve. We also provide maps and local tips and ideas to help you get the most from your stay in this fascinating UNESCO World Heritage City.
We expect your visit and will do our best to make you feel like home.
No se puede fumar dentro de la casa, soló en el balcón y el jardín.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 days, and both of us agreed that this suite was completely magical. One couldn't ask for more warm and accessible hosts. The first day Katy was extremely flexible with our arrival time, and once we got to the house she offered numerous tips and guides for our stay - everything from bus/colectivo routes to good local bars and music venues. Nina was also incredibly gracious and recommended several museums and parks see while we were in Valparaiso and Viña del Mar.
The suite itself has a breath-taking 360 view of the bay and surrounding hills, which makes breakfast in the morning quite the spectacular experience. I've never had a more romantic meal in my life. The bathroom and bedroom are clean and comfortable, and despite the cold nights we stayed quite warm under the nice wool blankets and comforters.
I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a high quality and uniquely personal place to stay in Valparaiso that is very affordable compared to hotels in the area. I certainly hope to have the chance to visit again.
Nina was a great host and nothing was too much trouble. The view from the top floor is amazing. It is a bit of a step climb to the room and there are several cats throughout the house. It's a 20 minute walk in to the main square or a small taxi fare. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Nina also contacted her son in law Oliver who took us on a wine tour. He is very knowledgable about Valparaiso. Oliver also gave us a lift to the bus terminal at the end of our stay. Highly recommended
We had the perfect romantic weekend in Valparaiso, all because of our stay here. I could not imagine a better way to enjoy the morning than getting to experience the views of the sunrise over the mountains the suite offers and being brought an incredible spread of breakfast foods by sweet Nina. The room was beautifully decorated with a comfortable bed and had everything we could need! The home is in a very convenient location, only took about 15 minutes to walk down to the touristy areas, and buses and shared taxis that stop on the corner next to the home make getting around very easy and inexpensive. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay!
Fomos muito bem recebidos por uma senhora muito simpática chamada Nina. Ficamos apenas um dia, pois estávamos passando pela cidade. A vista do quarto é incrível. E também pudemos deixar o carro na garagem. E para melhorar ainda tivemos um excelente café da manhã preparado por ela.
My wife and my stay was wonderful. Kati helped us get set up with local transportation and sights and Nina brought us her amazing breakfast every morning. Their home is amazing and should be a historical site! Everyone in the house is very friendly and my wife loved their dogs and cat.
Note that in mid-afternoon the suite does get pretty toasty, but the bedroom is kept cool by strategic placement of blinds :).
We were made to feel very welcome the minute we arrived at Valpo Romantic Suite. The apartment is an aerie looking over Valparaiso. The view is remarkable. The lovely and gracious Nina brought us a delicious meal for each breakfast - lots of fruit which we were craving. The accommodation was very comfortable in every way. My only quibble is the presence of the cat. I am not allergic but was sensitive to the smell. My wife could not smell it though. So highest marks if you are very fond of everything cat.
Suite Mirador was exactly as pictured: a beautiful suite on the top floor of a house, with fantastic views. Nina, our primary point of contact, was very sweet, helpful, and brought us a wonderful breakfast every morning at the time we wished! Oliver, the other host, was also very helpful in providing directions for getting around town.
Two things to consider:
1. Though beautiful, it is very loud at night! The walls are thin, and you will most likely hear dogs barking all night, loud neighbors, and the occasional TV or conversation. If you are a light sleeper, as I am, you may have a hard time sleeping.
2. There are cats living in the house (if you have allergies, this may be a problem), one of which loves to come upstairs (there is nothing to block the apartment off from the rest of the house). She will get into any food you leave around, as well as your things--so be careful!
Otherwise, we loved the location, the apartment, the views, and the hosts!
