Mohib was a wonderful host - the space was exactly as described, and we felt very lucky to have such a nice place to relax in after our busy explorations. We also really loved the area that Mohib's place was in - it was very quiet and very residential feeling, far away from the noisier hustle and bustle of downtown Kyoto. However, it is super easy to get around to livelier areas - Mohib gave us a thorough explanation of sights and buses, and Kyoto itself is a very navigate-able city, so we felt pretty comfortable getting to and from places.
All in all, we were very pleased with Mohib's place - it is quiet, roomy, with a very traditional Japanese feel to it. The other guests were awesome too, so it was a great place to hang out in.
Staying at Mohib's place was a wonderful experience. The house is very traditional in the heart of a residential neighborhood and it was a great place to stay during my time in Kyoto. Mohib was also very welcoming upon arrival and was very helpful with directions and recommendations.
Definitely the traditional Japanese way of living. Positives: Mohib is an excellent host, going above and beyond. Place is clean, warm and spacious. Kitchen facilities available. A few bus stops to both Gion, Kyoto station and Fushimi-Inari. (Number 208 bus from the station leaves every 30 mins). Negatives: Shared bathroom (singular) for what can be a fair few people if multiple people in each room. A fair trek up the hill if you have heavy bags. It is an old Japanese house and so noise definitely travels from other rooms and the street. All in all a reasonable option for a stay in Kyoto.
He is very nice and easygoing person. He prepare refreshments for us and help us to find scenic spots. His house is very traditionally and convenient. I'd like to back again sometime.
Mohibur is an excellent host and made us feel very welcome. He was there for our arrival, sincerely attended to any of our queries, has excellent English, and great suggestions for our travels. The house is 7mins walk from bus stop and good location for sights and has a delicious bakery and fruit shop (our breakfast) in house street near bus stop. the house is exactly what I wanted - an experience for my teenage daughters and me to live in an true living example of a old Japanese style house . It was clean and had good hot water shower. I liked all its earthiness and soul, and very steep stairs (good handrails )and sliding wooden doors. the only one thing I did not like was it had only a squat toilet (very clean). We will fondly remember our stay in this house in Kyoto
